A question about Avatar

My question is how do I use an avatar that is in the galleries of other Invision board forums.

1. Find that avatar

2. Go to a spot on the boards where the av is shown full size

3. Right click on the image and select "Save Picture As"

4. Save the image to your hard drive, name it appropriately (and make sure you save it as a .jpg or .gif or other usable format)

5. Go to your avatar settings on MW and upload the image from your HD as the new avatar.

You don't need to. Find the pic you want. Make sure it's no more than 64x64 pixels. Then go to:

My Controls->Edit Avatar Settings->Your image avatar->Upload an Avatar. That's all you need to do. It can be a jpeg, gif, png, or a swf file.

Well I have it on my desktop, but can't get a preview of it. And when I hit the add as Avatar button, I get a red message saying that type of file can't be used, its a JPEG image thought.

the image may have saved itself as an .art or .bmp file accidentally and if you gave it a .jpg tail then it's encoding might be messed up. If you have an art program like draw or photoshop open it in there and save it out as a new .jpg file. Make sure you don't use any weird encoding or it might not be usable.
