One of the models I am considering is this: Sony PlayStation 3 60 GB Piano Black Console (NTSC-J-CECH-A00) Is it backward compatible and can it play PS2 games, e.g. Super Dimension Fortress? Thank you!
Tochiro Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 With VERY FEW exceptions (like Persona 4 Arena) as a general rule ALL PS3 games are region free. However, IF the PS3 has PS2 backwards compatability (and only older and launch units do), the PS2 compatability will be region locked to whatever region the PS3 is from. DLC is a mixed bag but many titles region lock DLC to the region that the disc being used is from, meaning that multiple PSN accounts are usually needed.
