Theatrical Macross F - the false songstress - Guide book / Roman Album

Price including tax: 900円 (857円+tax)

Publication date: 2009.11

Size: A4 oversized

ISBN: 9784197202867

Contents summary:

01-07 movie scenes and summary (majority on first half of the movie)

08-11 Interview of Supervisor Kawamori Shouji

12-15: character design art (complete with one art typo. Someone forgot to move the masking from one of Ranka's images!)

16-25: TV series illustration gallery (from a variety of magazines)

26-38: TV series episode synopsis

39: Macross links (references to previous series in the MF TV series)

40-46: TV series character art

47-48: TV series mechanical art

49-53: history of Macross (brief synopsises of previous Macross series. This and the following are by production date. Macross II is present)

54-57: Galaxy Divas (singers. Minmei to Mao Nome)

58-61: mechanical designs of key VFs and ships from the various series)

62-63: Frontier Keywords

my opinion: good for the MF TV series content. Not worth it for MF movie content. Does have a neat nostalgia factor for the previous Macross series.

Theatrical Macross F - the false songstress - Formal Guide Perfect Triangle

Price: ¥1200

Publication date: 2009.12.18

Size: B5

ISBN: ISBN 978-4048544399

Contents summary:

02-03 Introduction

04-07 Movie poster art

08: Table of Contents

09-24: chapter 01 (generally each two-page section has the time in the move (ex: 0:00:00 - 0:07:51) and scene numbers (eg: A part S1-S3), a picture and written synopsis, the Supervisor's (Kawamori's) comment at the bottom, and a character (Eg Saotome Alto) in the left outside margin; complete with particulars, and brief character history, etc.)

25-48: chapter 02 (6 pages Sheryl x Ranka (character art, description, etc), 4 pages interview with Aya Endo and Megumi Nakajima, 2 pages Aruto (character art, description, etc.), 2 pages interview of Yuichi Nakamura, 1 page VF-25 Tornado Pack (space mode is itty bitty small), 1x Macross Quarter, 1x Mantis-like Vajra, 1x Vajra Battleship and Destroyer, 5x Island 1 interior shots)

49-46: chapter 03 (interviews of Kawamori Shouji (2 pages), then following, each one page with 1 page of their art facing: Yasuhito Kikuchi, Risa Ebata, Hiroshi Yagishita, Hidetaka Tenjin (apparently he added a lot of the fine details), Shunichiro Yoshihara, Itsuro Sasakura)

47-62: TV series mechanical art

63-80: chapter 04 (same as chapter 1, but covers last half of the movie)

81-57: chapter 05 (follows the pattern of text interview on right page, with storyboards and finished animation on left page. Interviews with Yoko Kanno (YK) #1, Stage Guide Sheryl Nome #1, YK #2, Ranka CM, YK #3, SGSN #2; last 2 pages are both of the universal bunny storyboards and finished animation)

my opinion: good for the technical details (read: Japanese text). Not so good for the pictures. I've looked at the other ones a bunch of times after picking them up. This one? I almost forgot about it after putting it in the bookshelf!)
