  1. hey, there all,

I've got a couple pix from my first release vf-1s. On shoulder held with copious crazy glue applications, then today I just noticed the decent crack in the other shoulder. Ever since this valk, I've been very patient with my Macross Purchases. Though, I'm waiting for the max 1a(tv) and a hiky 1j with fastpacks. Should I be concerned?

Max 1A should have new hinges. I transformed mine for couple times and there hasn't been a problem. Hikaru 1J on the other hand, might have a 50/50 chance of having old hinges. i broke my first set in first transformation. but the one i got from hlj sales holds up pretty well.

  2. Based on my modeling experience, those cut marks are something to be expected on plastic toys. To hide those marks, you will need to use 800 or 1200 grip sandpapers to smooth them and use some polishing compound to hide the sand.

To have the least cut/stress/white marks, one needs to cut the sprue about 0.5 inches from the actually end using a model scissor and use art knife to cut the remaining. I don't think any toy factory always has the luxury of doing that.

  3. So said all the people who voted "mine's fine" on our earlier poll, only to ask that their vote be changed to "broken" a few months later.

Ha, I already expected the worst and ordered spare arms from OD. It is just a matter of time, even though it will stay in fighter mode forever.

  4. Cheers to Graham indeed. Glad yamato is going to fix the shoulder for good (hopefully). Right now I have six 2.0 VF-1. Up till now I am one of the lucky few that don't have a cracked shoulder yet (even though there are stress marks on my 1S and i haven't checked hikura 1a yet).

  5. Valkyrie addict,

Very eloquently spoken, and you intelligently stated your position without being repetitive. I'm impressed and you literally took the words right out of my mouth, as well as others, I'm sure.

Honestly, this is my first experience with a company "recycling" a high price broken/defective item into a new box without any warning to the customer. This was nothing short of deliberate and intentional on the part of Yamato.

Historically it reminds me of when the Japanese ambassador was negotiating with Washington, DC, while at the same time the Japanese Navy was bombing Pearl Harbor. While it's not fair to consider the entire country in general terms, I always presumed that Japanese businesses operated under high ethical standards, in comparison to many American companies. Yamato is truly motivated by the Yen. <_<

    Sincerely,

    Christopher B))

Couple years back Aoshima did recall one of their legiosses due to poor QC. So this is pretty much an isloated instance but yamato did screw up here.

  6. My 1S Hikaru is holding fine for now, didn't pay attention to stress marks or pins but let's hope it can hold itself as i am too scared to transform it any more.

My M&M 1J seem to be fine, but I only transform them one time each so who knows.

1A Hikaru is being held hostage by my finance :) hope it turns out fine but I already expect the worst and ordered spare part from OD

1D and Max 1J are in transit and look like i might need to buy some insurance policy on them.

Bottom Line: No more yamato purchase unless they fix their screw-up and offer everybody spare parts. Graham, let those yamato guys know that they have lost a customer.

  7. jesus, guess all my valks need to stay in fighter mode forever to avoid disability...

Just curious, suppose the ultra-expensive/exclusive 1/2000 SDF-1 has exploding shoulder too, would it be outragous enough to send people to boycott yamato?

Edit: waiting for VF1D in the email, praying to plastic god right now...
