  1. I feel like a refugee. I can't believe how much info was just lost. Links to sites, projects underway, and all the people that I consider friends.

I do hope he does not let the hacker win and brings the forums back.

I feel the same way. I'm kicking myself for not saving off so many cool threads I was going to get to later....and the worst thing...I have 2 PM's I never got too. They are probably nothing, but it bugs me that I may never know what they had to say! :(

  2. I just read that Starship Modelr was hacked and the forums have been shut down...maybe for good! Criminy!

    From the news section:

    DISCUSSION FORUMS CLOSED INDEFINITELY

The Discussion Forums were hacked, and I (and the others I had designated with administrator rights) was removed from being able to control them. Because of this, I have shut them down. They will stay closed until I find and install new software with better security. Because I am already overwhelmed with the amount of work necessary to run the overall site, this may well mean that the forums are not reinstated.

Quite frankly, I shelled out a lot of money to keep them going, and Linda, the other moderators and myself spent an inordinate amount of time keeping the place running smoothly so that the 2547 registered users, and the uncounted lurkers, could share information and opinions and meet fellow modelers from the world over who shared their interests. Thanks to one person, all that is gone. Everything - the stockpiled knowledge, the communities, the private messages, all gone.

I hope you're happy, whoever did that.

  3. Again...thanks all for the feedback. Special thanks to LTSO for the advice on acrylic rods. Quick prefab of a base done. I want to do a nicer one then this...but I wanted to do one to see how it looked.

couple extra shots (sorry...bad light. )

    Base

    Now...onto finishing a launch platform!

Thanks all again for the positive remarks. Anyone else who would be interested in castings from the new masters please feel free to email me for info.

    Cheers!

  4. Get ready to berate me for my ignorance - there's a 1:100 Monster?!  :o

Not yet <_< That's the problem.

    :p

Coming soon from SMT models. (soon being a bit of an ironic descriptor) Honestly, of all of this, I truly feel terrible for Joe. He puts his blood into that kit and has to wait for SMT to turn it around. Soon, won't be soon enough to be fair to Joe.

  5. Really nice work, the only thing I notice, and maybe it was this way on the filming model, but the back end, from the section where the engines meet the intake sections, seems to droop, almost like they are not aligned with the rest of the forward body. Not a huge droop, but I noticed it the most on the pic looking into the back of the ship. I looked at the original filming viper pics at www.cloudster.com and the engines seem aligned straight but they dont show a back shot, so I don't know if it was on the master, but it just seemed like the sections should be aligned together more.

I think thats an optical illusion based on the angle of the pictures. The engines cut backwards and in, but there is no droop. All that said, the model I completed is full of flaws like that droop as are pretty much all the kits out there. Thats why I'm so excited about these patterns I am getting. They are the closest masters to the studio model as are out there. I think the kits that are made from the molds I make for these new masters should really be nice.

  6. Also, if the show could keep only one Boomer who would you want it to be?  Galactica Boomer (the cylon sleeper, who suspects but doesn't know what she is) or Caprica Boomer (who is aware that she is a Cylon, is apparently in love with Helo, and may even be pregnant?)

I don't know... either Boomers have so much baggage... isnt there a place where I can get one MISB? ;):p:lol:

I think I would have to do an extensive Boomer analysis. 6 to 9 months with several Boomers in seclusion before I could decide which one to keep. It's only fair.;)

  7. Thanks all for all the wonderful feedback. It really means a lot to me. I worked really hard on it, and hearing people's feedback just makes it all worthwhile.

In regards to the double plug...that is the form for the canopy. The kit would just come with the vacuum formed canopy and the resin canopy frame (like shown on the completed kit I did) I like the canopy frame better, as it is easier to see the cockpit detail and is closer to the look of a studio model. (No glass so no glare! )

    Any suggestions? Thanks ALL!
