  1. So here it goes, I work at Fender in Corona where the USA American Standard, custom shop, Jackson/charvel and Gretsch Custom Shop guitars are produced.

For a custom made guitar that had to pay a license to the design owner, ¥350,000 is not a bad price for this guitar. Guitars regularly sell for this price and this guitar is priced accordingly. The equivalent of what we make a Jackson guitar start at this price. Japanese guitar making is some of the best in the world and is priced very well.

I would kill to own this guitar. My department at work knows Firebomber as I'm always playing Macross music at work. I have a Basara picture hanging at my desk and everybody knows Power to the Dream because I'm always blasting it.

Fender or Jackson would have no problem producing this guitar and it would have been cool to produce it, trust me I would have been the campion in supporting its production especially for the fact Fukuyama playes Fenders, it absolutely kills me that we didnt make it. looks like ESP and the powers at be at Macross established a relationship long ago that's finally paying off for them.

Fenders do excellent in Japan since they were first introduced in the 50s stop by the Yamano store in Ginza and be blown away. Although we did a special Evangelion guitar a few years ago for an anime event Fender tends to miss these great opportunities in Japan.

Good for ESP for pulling this one off! Well done!

  2. I saw the build up kit of this at Yodobashi-Akiba a couple of weeks ago.

My first reaction was it was great seeing it in person as it was a surprise! At a quick glance I loved it but upon looking at the small details there are some odd deatails like the hinged side heel plates and my big issue is the small arms. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be in person.

Overall it's a new VF-1 kit and I'm looking forward to building it. I'm curious how the build pattern is going to be as well as the small details. Andrew and I will be doing a co-review on collectiondx about this from both a toy collector and modeler point of view.

  3. So is it like the original Japanese release that DOESN'T come with the Tomahawk and Armored VF-1J, like the US/Germany Revell "Robotech" line did? I have the original, but haven't torn off the original shrink-wrap to see.

Actually the both versions of this kit were originally released in Japan, one with the mechs and background parts and one with just the background factory parts.

  4. Those 1:100 Armored Battroids are quite difficult to find even on Y-auctions, that Great that they will be including it in the set. I've been wanting one of these since I was a kid so I'm looking forward to this reissue!

Btw the original box art painting was on Y-auctions a few months ago.

I'm sure it was covered here!

  5. Finishing up my Imai/Bandai 1/100 Destroid Tomahawk model kit for my 1/100 Destroid Shootout comparison on CollectionDX.

Out of the box but I used photoetche screen for the huge vents on the back and heel to improve the look.

After this I have the Arii Spartan to finish. Also working on the 1/100 Arii/Bandai VF-1D variable kit but I will do my first custom Valkyrie paint job using the Destroying Falcons alternate decals.

    Cheers!

  6. Wow!

This is a welcomed release in these quarters. I was just thinking about these Macross 1/72 scale model kits a few days ago and why Bandai has not re-released these kits after all these years. This has taken way to long in my book to get these back on the market.

Seriously for $23.00 you can't go wrong with these kits and cost just about the same they did back when my parents bought some of them for me in the 1980's.

And these being too difficult for kids to build? I was around 8 years old when I first saw these kits available and I had no issues building them. In fact they a bit easier as the parts are big and easier to handle for little kid hands. It will be great to revisit these kits again after all these years. In fact I was planning to make a build up of my old Destroid Defender I built as a kid but it will be nice to purchase a new kit instead.

Don't get me wrong we definitely need brand new tooled Master Grade style Macross kits from Bandai but for other nostalgic reasons I welcome these with open arms and looking forward to building them to specs that I wasn't able to do as a kid.

  7. Hello All!

Looking forward to spinning some great Anime vinyl records throughout the day this year for Macross Con 10! I picked up a lot of great records this year including many Mari Iijima and Kumi Miyasato solo records ( sadly another package from Japan with a lot of great records will not arrive in time for this weekend).

Also if anybody wants to sell me an unbuilt boxed Arii 1/100 Spartan model kit out of your trunk in the parking lot for a reasonable price ($10-$20) please bring it!

I've never seen Mari Live so I'm looking forward to the concert and give her my respect!
