Hey, yeah: Forgot all about the battleship. If the Varja are bio-weapons from Galaxy (vat-grown, or found in the wild, then converted), then who's war wagon was that? The surviving destroyer didn't seem to recognize it, so it wasn't from Galaxy . . .
