Is that a 1/90 custom TV Q-rau!?!?

That Q-rau is a 1/60 Yamato DYRL figure repainted into TV color. Max's VF-1A is a 1/55 Toynami repainted into the white/blue TV color scheme as well. It's too bad that Yamato does not make a TV color one for their Max VF-1A.

Yeah, I would like to know where to get them too.

I have to check with my work to see if I am working that weekend. I remember they scheduled me for a two-week work trip sometime in July. But it's near Santa Barbara, so I will drive down if I have to.

I want to order a few of these Regult battle pods. But I also want to hear actual reviews of this item from member in this forum before buying a handful of them. Has anyone got a hold of these battle pods yet? Like early prototypes?

Thanks for the compliments and I hope you guys enjoy it. That's what it is for. Building these sets is just a blast and a way to re-create a part of my childhood. Macross toys are awesome, so I thought I had to create displays that match their quality. Plus, a set can tell a story, like a fight scene from a certain episode. This is just taking it to the next level.

And thanks Miriya for putting this up. I hope you can give the set a nice home.

I might drop by at the MacrossCon this year. Long Beach is not that far. I will see what I can bring. My little SUV should be able to carry a few items. Here's the Macross City set, as Miriya mentioned, that's sitting in my den. My friends love it; the girls question it and roll their eyes.

It's a big set! And it tells part of the Macross story.

When those Bandai VF-25 comes out, I might have to build a SMS hanger for them too. And another one for the Pixie Squadron's Q-rau. Maybe with giant Meltrans in the set.....

Episode 4 was really good. A lot elements in there to remind us of the first SDF Macross series. Both has a serious battle in which the battroid ends up heavily damaged with Miss Macross contest in the background. The Minmei song which Ranka sang was also a good reminder of this series origins.

At least Miria's Que-Rau battle suit seems to have been passed down to the Pixie Squadron's captain, Klan Klan.

That was an excellent episode. Ozma is a bit more blunt than Roy; nevertheless, he seems to be an excellent character. Alto, like Hikaru, was in shock after the first encounter and threw up after seeing all the violence and destruction. It has a lot of the original SDF Macross feel to it and I hope the coming episodes are like these first two.

It's funny that Ozma was playing Basara's song in his car.

After looking at the photos of this 1/60 model, I agree the pilot is too close to the front. It looks like Yamato got lazy here thinking they can do a single seater and VF-1D with the same front seat molding. If they had gone all this way to create a new 1/60, they should have gone the extra step for the right cockpit seat pitch distance.

I will probably skip the single seater and just pickup a VF-1D when they come out.

Yup! Those M.V. Product lens are what I used on both my Defender and Spartan destroid. It makes a big difference in the way the model looks. I just noticed the package states "Aircraft Recognition Lights". These are perfect for giving the VF-1 a realistic touch. The prices are reasonable.

I might even install the clear silver light on the front landing gear cover for my 1/48 Yamato valks.

Wow! Great spartan Your masking is very nice. The colour changes are very clean with some nice weathering. Boy those jeweled lenses look realistic too. Are they available in stores somewhere?

Those jeweled lens are made by a company called M.V. Products. They are located in California. I went to my local model train hobby store to buy them. They come in various colors and sizes. These lens are mostly for "super detailing" model locomotives and traffic signals. The price of two lens are about $1 USD.

I've almost finished painting the 1/72 Spartan. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

I just finshed building an 1/72 Spartan too. But this is from an old Imai kit. Here are some early pictures. Some of the details got washed out by the camera flash bulb. I will retake some photos of this green guy in a display set with proper lighting. I added a few details to it like putting in custom jeweled lens for the knee amber lights, red lens for the front scanner and crotch lights, large red lens for the rear lights and mesh screen behind the shoulder exhausts. The front four fingers have limited movement too with crude custom joints. The original kit had fixed fingers.

It looks like the Tomahawk is about 7 inches (17cm) tall, at its highest point.

Testor has videos online for building models and how to paint them for a weathered look. Most of videos are 5-7 minutes long to demonstrate each technique. They are for model aircrafts which is close enough for most Macross models. These are good tips nevertheless.

Yamato should have made the TV version of Max's VF-1A too, in 1/48 scale. The one where he disguised in a Zentraedi uniform and threw Breetai out of his own ship. He shot down Miria inside the SDF-1 with another VF-1A .That's easy to repaint and would sell well.

Here is a couple of my Yamato 1/48s with a slight repaint; a small portion of my Macross stuff. They sit one shelf above the "fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy".

I will put up more photos later on.

Well, at least I know some of my tax rebate money (from US government) will be set aside for a few regults. I hope the price will be reasonable, like $20 (USD) or less for each.

Huraayy!! I just got my Bandai re-release Tomahawk, Phalanx and Glaug kits. I bought two of each from HobbyLink Japan. For around $7 for each destroid and $12 for the Glaug, the prices are reasonable when compare to the prices on eBay.

Now I can build a few as desktop display pieces for my office. Maybe I'll built a 1/100 scale mini-diorama for them too.

I hope Bandai would re-release the 1/72 scale destroids and Zentraedi pods.

Here are a couple more views of the maintenance bay set.

The material like handrails, decks, truss, steel beams, pipes and so on were from a local hobby store at their model railroad section. Most are made of styrene. They have lots of items at the HO scale(1:87) for model trains. Most of these items can be used for sets built close to this scale, like the 1/72 Macross models.

This set is about 24" deep x 30" wide x 20" high. It's a bit large.

Also, what diorama is that? Did you make it from scratch or is it a kit and if so where could I get one?

The kit is by Imai, a company that is no longer in business since the 1980s. Arii bought Imai and then Arii when out of business too. So Bandai bought Arii and is now making some of the original Imai models.

I built the set from scratch during the last Christmas vacation. I might built another one but with more details.

I hope Yamato can tone down the weathering a bit. It looks like Roy's VF-1S was used inside a coal mine.

Finished!!!! It is an 1/72 Imai Destroid Defender kit. I added some small lens behind light covers to give it an extra detailed finish. Without it, the space behind the light cover is just a black hole.

Next up, the 1/72 Destroid Spartan will be my next project.
