It's the same problem as the Alien and Predator franchises. Too many different writers and directors trying to pull them in too many different directions. Which is unfortunate.

Hopefully we will see the Gamilons overwhelmed by the Comet Empire before they proceed to invade Earth's system. 2199 was so good I think the producers have earned the right to take the show where they want.

I'm surprised that no one here has mentioned how Batfleck's version of Bruce Wayne is the most involved in his day job. In comparison, Michael Keaton and George Clooney never stepped foot in their own corporate offices while Val Kilmer only visited one of his labs where Jim Carrey worked and Christian Bale spent his office time dozing off. For this one, Batfleck actually cares about all of his employees.
That's because there are some interesting ideas and nuances in this film that very few are bothering to pay attention to. The thing that shocked me about the film was the level of violence that Batman was getting up to, and it's barely been mentioned. Don't get me wrong though, I enjoyed the level of violence Batman was dealing out.
I thought that the new Batmobile looked freaking awesome in combat as well.

A perfect movie? No.
As bad as these guys reckon? (ie, worse than the plague and the holocaust combined) Hell no.
-
No, the surprise for me is the implication that Episode VIII is going to pick up *right* where VII left off?? They've never done that before.

here's a superman figure from the film
Playarts - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice SUPERMANCouldn't they get permission to use Henry Cavill's face on this figure?

I would love to see ALL 85 episodes adapted into ONE 85 minute movie.

Given the amount of money to be made, I wouldn't be surprised if they at some point decided to reboot the prequels within the next 25 years.
I'm sure they are tempted but I doubt it would ever happen....

It's hardly like Luke is the first Jedi we have seen move into a self-imposed exile when things seem to be going extremely bad. I was more annoyed when Yoda pissed off at the end of Episode III claiming he could not defeat Palpatine and *that was it* for him. You would have thought he would have caught up with Kenobi later to help raise and train Luke and/or Leia, but nooooooooooooo.

Is he even employed by HG any more? I figured when they got rid of the forums his job would be the first to go. Maybe they were able to just drop him to part-time or call him a paid intern.
What are you talking about? They didn't "get rid of the forums". The forums transcended this plane of existence and moved to a higher one. Just like Dave Bowman at the end of 2001.

I hope that Moffat continues to contribute the occasional script and/or monster to the series. I have loved his creativity.

Trailer of the year so far. And its going to be *really* hard to top.

Meh, who needs Star Wars? LOL!!

Makes me wonder why obvious plot strengthening scenes that are fully filmed are removed and things that could be cut for time (like Rey making dinner for example) are left.
Rey making dinner was a character strengthening scene. (Basically, "Rey's shitty life")

I would have thought it would be nice to hv a supreme leader thats suave and not looking like an obvious monster for a change.
Sort of like count dooku, imagine having dracula as a boss. The terror comes when they break out of character.
You do realise that THIS is who you are talking about.......

I wanna get a giant Kylo Ren action figure and a giant Han Solo action figure and then drill a hole through the Han Solo one and shove Kylo's lightsaber....................etc.............

Really nice animation. Excellent!

- Is Rey a Mary Sue? Maybe. She seemed to grasp the Force a little too quickly. Even by the start of ESB, Luke only had the basics down. She figured how to do mind manipulation already.
Um, Luke did use the Force in ANH to give him the guidance to blow up the freaking Death Star. I think that his skills were getting pretty advanced by the end of ANH. As it was pointed out, Rey was copying what Kylo was trying to do to her, so she had some guidance.

MOTHERfrakkING SPOILERS!!!
Just go see the movie, dude.

Thinking about it, I really like the cliffhanger at the end of Force Awakens, but if they follow the usual SW "format", there is no way that they are going to carry directly on from that cliffhanger. Quite annoying.

So... No one agrees with me that the first spoken line of the movie was too arch and self-referential?
I wouldn't say that I disagree with you, but I don't think I'm bothered by the line either........

Just got back from seeing it a second time. Picked up on a few things I missed out on from the first session.
Not interested in comparing it to the others. Just wondering, what has been the best franchise comeback this year. Force Awakens or Fury Road?

It was great fun. Really enjoyed it.

Going through the thread and *just* about to make the same comment. Absolutely right. Thanks for pointing out the doco.
I think it has it's own thread here but it's also well worth checking out the doco about Tim Burton's failed Superman project. If you want an accurate portrayal of how stupid the hollywood system is, this is the place to go.
