If they plan to do a remake, they should just edit/ redo inconsistent animation and retain the original character designs and audio tracks. I think that what the show needs are more side stories. 1. Story after Macross 0 and explain why the Bird Human was so important! 2. Story of an ordinary pilot during space war I 3. Story of post flashback 2012 on earth or onboard a megaroad class ship 4. An animated adaptation of Macross M3 (game for the dreamscast) 5. Animated adaptaion of VFX- 1 and 2 (games for the playstation-japan only) 6. Post M7 and VFX stories of just plain squadrons and pilots fighting rogue zentraedis, pirates and rogue government units and even rebellion on colonization fleets. Anything that is about song energy or that requires a Basara Nekki clone must be omitted!!! NO FIREBOMBER CRAP!!!

The animation certainly is at par with the original movie. Kawamori should include them if he wants to release another DYRL to celebrate the 25th anniversary. Why not just have a REAL Perfect Editon w/ the appropriate prologue and epilogue.

I think that the original Macross TV series should have a remake using DYRL animation. It just has a classic feel to it. A lot of the modern macross productions use DYRL as reference like the uniforms of the UN SPACY. Even the intro of macross frontier uses DYRL images. Maybe a possible remake of the TV series using the old animation but using modern animation for mecha battles. That would be interesting. Another thing for me is the possibility of including a prologue for DYRL. The saturn and psx games had it. Hope that the epilogue also expands more on the other characters so that it gives a proper closure and not just a concert. Macross 7 was just a waste, they should have focused more on the story rather than the annoying fire bomber and the one and only basara nekki who i think ruined the macross franchise. I think that it should have been done on the gamlin's perspective. Macross Zero lacked detail on the story regarding the point of wanting the Bird Human but the animation and mecha action was its saving grace. Maybe a connection between zero and frontier is just around the corner since the pop idol is sheryl nome. a probable descendant of mao.

I still think that they should add a proper intro as to how and why there are citizens and a thriving city inside the ship plus a brief history prior to the attack. I mean. 15-20 minutes of additional footage can definitely spice up the film even more. And an epilogue that could give closure to the other characters and not just on the 3 main casts. Maybe even a remake of the original tv series...that's got to be a hit in terms of fanbase and merchandising. This is a classic film and movies like Star Wars were given add-ons. Even an anime like Zeta Gundam, injected new scenes. I think it is a good approach for new fans and an opportunity to reboot the franchise by paying tribute to the original. Besides. it's the 25th anniversary of the show. Wish that we could post ideas and concepts to Kawamori. Is there even a way to do that?

I'm just curious to know if there is anyone out there that can translate the japanese texts displayed during the intro of DYRL for the saturn and playstation before the fighters are launched from the carrier and after the macross folded to space? I hope that you guys out there can also translate what the was being said by the characters during take off and before folding w/ the sdf1 Somebody pls help!!!! Wish that somebody can give me a direct translation... It's a shame that the macross creators have not taken into consideration of re-releasing a real perfect edition of DYRL that gives us viewers, new and old fans, of a proper prologue and epilogue.
