  1. Thats good news Rod, I'm glad things came good for you.

Murphy's law can be a bitch but I know all about it and (over)compensate. I always partition my hard drives and keep my data seperate from the OS. I copy my data partition across to my second PC weekly and also copy my Cinema4D data folders onto an external USB drive once a week. Every couple of months I burn it all to CD. If anyone is reading this and doesn't back up their work I would reccomend you give it some serious thought.

  2. Rodavan, I know how it feels, it happened to me some years back. Since then I'm pretty paranoid about losing data, I now have TWO backup hard drives and periodically burn to CD as well. I hope the recovery people are able to help you.

  3. Nice work so far guys, I haven't worked on my Regult in a long time. I too had trouble with the side thruster pod and in the end I cheated and converted what I had into a wreck and moved on to other projects. I really ought to dig mine out and complete it.

  4. These are great, makes me want to start building Orguss stuff myself (no, no, no, I don't have TIME!!)

What are you using for reference? 2D images or models and toys? I just recently got hold of Arii's transformable Nickick kit and I was so tempted to try CG-ing it, seeing your work has done nothing to help me supress that urge.

What are your plans for these when they are finished? Images in appropriate settings, or animation maybe? Whatever, keep up the good work.

  5. I quite enjoyed it, ok it wasn't perfect but nor was the original show. Big budgets and state of the art effects aren't always an improvement when remaking a popular but cheap and cheerful show [cough] Godzilla [/cough] but in this case they don't appear to have done any harm.

I liked the effects, I liked the humour, maybe the two leads aren't my first choices for the roles but then I was never 100% sold on either Peter Davidson or Sylvester McCoy but I still kept watching.

On the "is Rose a bimbo?" question I'm siding with ComicKaze at the moment, I mean her boyfriend is replaced with a plastic duplicate...and she didn't even notice?

  6. i'm not too excited about finding alien life elsewhere simply because there's not really anyway to talk to them, it takes something like 20 years to get a signal to the nearest star, and who knows how long it will take to comunicate with aliens when we find them.

Actually the nearest star, Alpha Centauri, is only 4.3 light years away but even if there was a sufficiently advanced civilsation there I have to agree with you that conversing by radio would make for uncomfortably long pauses in the conversation.

For any sort of meaningful dialogue to occur I think THEY would have to visit us in person and there are so many freaks on Earth that we probably wouldn't even notice THEM.

  7. Nice pics, Mechmaster. Where'd you find them? Especially the diorama with the bugs.

That diorama is from an old issue of Hobby Japan. I used to have that issue, but unfortunately, no longer keep it as due to space limitations I only save the Macross pages from my hobby magazines these days and junk the rest of the magazine.

    Graham

Graham is right, Hobby Japan, November 2001.

I have every issue complete since January 1993, but as they are not indexed I usually can't find things when I want them, this time I was lucky as I had been leafing through that particular issue just a few days ago (looking for something else which I still haven't found  )

  8. I don't remember there are such robo-tanks in ROBOTECH tv series, any one can help me? and value? thanks~

This model range actually pre-dates the Robotech TV series, Revell aquired the rights to market a number of kits from Macross, Orguss and Dougram and packaged them under the Robotech banner. When Harmony Gold were looking into the merchandising possibilities of their (then) un-named fusion of Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada they discovered that Revell already had the rights to the Macross model kit range and so struck a deal with Revell which led to them adopting the name Robotech for the TV show.

As Mechaninac says the second kit is the Drifand-dal from Orguss, the first one is the Desert Gunner from Dougram. As to their value...? well, both kits are out of production and chances of a new production run are probably small so they could arouse interest from collectors. My Drifand-dal went to the Great Model Cabinet in the Sky many years ago and my Desert Gunner is in pieces and badly in need of a repaint after I broke it down to use as reference when building a CG version of it so I may well put in a bid for these myself.
