  1. She did say that, after producing the Macross F Merry Christnas Without You Concert, she was done with Macross for now. Or something to that effect. It was in an interview in either CD Journal or some other more mainstream music magazine from memory. Unfortunately I no longer have the issue on me to check.

Regardless however, despite having been a rabid Kanno fan for over 20 years, IMO it's time to let someone else/new step up to the plate. There's been more Macross productions in the franchise that haven't been scored by Kanno than have, and this musical diversity AND quality is something that I think helps to define Macross.

Ahh, I stand corrected then. Thanks for clearing that up. Had no idea she made those comments. Oh well, I too wouldn't mind them getting someone else to do the score.

    Can you say.......

    Kô ÔTANI!!!!!!

This guy's music is freakin awesome. He did the score for Gundam Wing....one of my favorite anime OST's of ALL time!!! A quick sample:

  2. Richard Epcar, yeah. And (weirdly enough), Jan (or, I suppose, *Yang") is Dan Woren... AKA Roy Fokker.

Cranston was not credited as his own name in Macross Plus. This was most likely because he was doing non-union work. He probably doesn't publicly mention his non-union roles in order to avoid any sort of trouble with the screen actors' guild.

    Interesting insight guys, thanks

Walter White flying the YF-19

  3. Has Bryan Cranston ever mentioned or acknowledged his role as Isamu in Macros Plus, during any interviews you're aware of? I've been watching a few of them and he never seems to so much as even mention his anime voice acting days.

Another question.....is there any behind the scenes footage of the English VAs doing their performance on Macross Plus? That would have been cool extra on the DVDs/BDs.

  4. Am still jealous of Egan to this day about that 15th anniversary gig. :-)

And while I can't speak to specifics, yes most macross gigs are recorded. This can be for any number of reasons (such as the artists wanting a copy of their performance for future reference), but is normally so that the IP holder/licensor has a record of it. This isnt to say that said recordings are necessarily of good enough quality to be packaged as a commercial product - often the recording is a single, static camera at the back of the concert venue. In the case of, for example, Macross Crossover Live 30 however, the footage was professional quality and there were multiple cameras (footage was projected on screens on either side of the stage). This, unfortunately, brings us back to the main reason it wasnt/won't be released - the licensors and other stakeholders don't want to do so. (Theres also issues like financial viability since all the stakeholders need to receive their piece of the pie, and the fact that some concerts are fanclub-events and are meant only for fanclub members/ticket holders - a guaranteed physical release after the fact may limit the organizers ability to fill all the seats at the events itself, so not doing a physical release results an a manufactured sense of the event being 'premium').

Just think - somewhere there is a full visual/audio recording of Yoko Kanno's AMAZING Tanabata Sonic concert from 2009. Despite the fact that it would sell, the various stakeholders will never come to an agreement that will get it released. Which is a damn tragedy.

Ahh thanks for the insight bro. A tragedy indeed but I guess you have to take all these factors into account.

Yoko KannoTanabata Sonic 2009 concert....would have loved to have been there :(

  5. For Yoko Kanno there's a BD of the Macross F Galaxy Tour at the Budokan. There's also the Merry Christmas Without You Christmas concert (Yoko Kanno/MF) available on BD.

One of Fukuyamas tribute to Basara concerts and one Firebomber concert (well, Fukuyama and Chie but it's more like a tribute to Firebomber) made it to DVD.

4 songs from Firebomber 2012 can be found on the FB7 BD.

Neither of the Macross Crossover gigs nor any of the Mylene nights have been released and unfortunately they probably never will be.

It does appear however appear that there might be a snippet of the Crossover 30 concert footage include in the upcoming Macross F movies BD boxset (unconfirmed).

    No. Just the Frontier-only concerts.

Thanks for the information gentlemen. It's unfortunate about the crossover stuff, but it's good to know there at least concerts for those other Macross related material that's out there on disc. I will try and track those concerts down one day.

Not sure if any of you can confirm this, but a very long time ago at one of the Macross cons, I was told by Egan Loo that the 15th Anniversary Macross Concert(which is probably the very first Macross celebration concerts they ever did) which took place back like '98 or '99 *WAS* in fact filmed by one of the big studios(Bandai or Big West).

Not sure where Egan got this news or how credible his source was, but I doubt he would've told this to me if he wasn't sure. Tochiro have you heard anything along these lines? If that concert was really filmed, why do you suppose they never released it on any format? Quite a shame because I read it was one of the most memorable Macross concerts performed to date.

  6. I don't read manga ever so that isn't going to happen.

That makes two of us my friend.

Then don't watch Berserk, it's basically a teaser for the manga.

I've learned this the hard way :( Got all the way to the end only to have the rug pulled out from under me. Biggest cock tease of a cliffhanger In TV series history.

I've been begging and petitioning thousands of people from various forums to get behind a petition to continue the Berserk TV series up to where the Manga currently is, to no avail :( :( :(

  7. Thanks guys. Much appreciate your courteous and candid answers. Very interesting info. Looks like they're not up to much these days. It's too bad about what you say regarding all topics turning into flame wars and people acting like dbags. I hope we can have a mature, adult oriented discussion about RT, without it turning hostile.

I fully acknowledge the wrong doings of HG, but personally, a part me still likes Robotech and watch it occasionally. Obviously I like pure Macross a lot more :)

  8. I'm just asking because I never see any Robotech related topics in this forum and wondering why? I realize there's a lot of RT haters here but I'm just curious what Harmony Gold is up to these days, and what their plans are for the RT franchise? Are they still releasing RT-related shows? Do they have any plans to sell the rights to Macross in the near future?
