  1. Here i landed on the SDF-01 w/ 1J w/ GBP armor. There are 3 weapon options on the top right corner which can be selected by using the 'SELECT' button... This was shot in free play mode... I really need to buy a new TV...

  2. How's the gameplay? I know that the game received a 31/40 from one of the Japanese gaming press (I'm thinking Famitsu here, because it got a gold award), and Sega AM2 did work on the game. I'm just happy that there's a Macross game now that's on par with Capcom/Bandai's Gundam DX series. :D

So far I love it, I just started the DYRL story line, it's just like DYRL, but you play as the new rookie pilot. There seems to be a lot of 'protecting' missions. The flight controls are ok. There is easy where the analog pitches up and down, and sides will turn their direction (kinda like a starfox control), and there is advanced which is more like a simulator type flight control. Gerwalk, seems like battlecry's controls, but the right analog stick controls your fighters altitude. Battroid seems like Armored Core, except you cannot use missiles. So far i got the the 1J added, still playing through though. There's an option for automatic camera (which seems to be in affect when you launch missiles, it will follow the missiles to the target), this can be turned off if it gets annoying watching your missiles hit or miss. All the OG sounds effects are there, which gives the authentic macross feel, and the music is Macross music too. I am satisfied of what Sega-AM2 did, this blows VFX/VFX2 outa the way, IMHO this is THEE BEST Macross game I have played.

    :D

What's also cool is that you can transform to battroid and stand on the SDF-01!

    I just killed a recon ship in Saturn's ring w/ a VE-1

I tried out Free Play mode, seems you cannot use all Valks on what available missions you completed... I tried to use the VE-1 for whatever missions I had (only completed 1-4 in DYRL mode), and I can only acess it in 2 missions.

GBP armor is there, only in free play mode so far...

  3. i have gone through a few of the TV based missions... at first they make you select what you want, DYRL style or TV, I have not yet been through the DYRL stage types yet... There are stupid time limits which are kinda stupid (like that of M3). I will play more tonight, damn I have to clear out some memory card space... Overall, this game is cool.

    A few questions: -

    1) Are there time limits on every stage, or just some of them?

    2) What about the free missions, do they also have time limits?

    3) Are the free missions identical to the story mode missions?

    Graham

    1) It will not be all the time... So far it happened when the SDF-01 launched to space, fought more, then decended back to earth, then a time limit came up to destroy the Regults...

    2) & 3) Haven't done the free missions yet, sorry...

I hope to play more after Smallville is finished :D

  4. This game is flat out awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Battlecry is crap compared to this...

Can you tell if the DYRL stages are completely diferent from the SDF stages?

I did want Castlevania, which is cool too, but I decided if I saw it at Frank and Sons today, go buy it, and i saw it and bought it. :)

Hope you slide card/swap magic peeps get your stuff soon.

  5. Play-Asia is a good site, although it's located overseas (Hong Kong) so the shipping costs are a bit more. ordered from there before and it arrived pretty quick.

DONT BUY FROM BUY-RITE GAMES. They're bastards. If you're looking for more info on that check out http://www.boycottbuyritegames.com/ which is a site created by a fellow MW'er.

Toys N Joys always seemed overpriced to me.

I'd second Abomz' recommendation for NCS, they're really great.

buyrite went bad? wierd, cuz I used to buy from them a lot a long time ago. Maybe under new management and bringing the whole place down under? That sucks... Oh well, i will stay away from them too...

  6. Mod chips will eventually destroy your laser unit. :( The best way to go would be to get a top-loading shell and a boot disk. :) The Gamecube disk is called a Freeloader and it's made by the same guys as the Action Replay. http://www.codejunkies.com/

Actually, the best mod chips won't mess up your laser for the fact that they recalibrate themselves when they first read your media.

For the flip top, the laser doesn't recalibrate itself, therefore making the laser work A LOT harder.

A modchip is the BEST way to go... Messiah2 or DMS3...

  7. A decepticon Vf-1D ?    Strange and the silver paint is quite surprizing on a valk.

Really odd piece... What was in your mind when you decided to make this ? It makes me think of a shiny Harley Davidson custom. But the qualkity of the paint seems really good. Congrats (even if the 1D looks really strange  ;)  ).

I saw recently a  remake using quite the same paint scheme.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3&category=4696 did this inspired you ?

I have that bootleg or whatever it might be and it partially inspired me. My original thought way back when was to go black base with purple, but it would be difficult to apply stickers over that so I switched to silver as the base color. I intended this more as a Transformer than Macross valk and thus it is more "toy-like" in terms of color scheme - something that Hasbro might have actually made. I added the 1D head yesterday in place of the 1S/Jetfire head (which was all black with a red eyeport) and while I am not completely sold on the 1D head myself, it does make it look more unique than just a straight Jetfire repaint.

does the bootleg on the ebay auction have diecast metal on it? or is it all plastic like the all plastic bootlegs?

  8. I let my friend handle my my Yammie VF-1A and he messed up the latches which hold the leg in fighter/gerwalk mode... He was never to touch ANY of my valks again. :(

Then he tried to change the armor for my HG Strike Gundam, and he broke the original shoulder cover, he tried to cover it up, but I noticed it... He will therefore NEVER touch any Gundam of mine again... :(

  9. - screwing up the drive's motor mechanism so that parts of the disc won't read (this has happened with many people who modded their PS2, some games would just freeze when it reaches a certain part of the game) due to the more fragile interior of the PS2

the cheapy chips will do that (Magic2, Magic3). Stick tot eh top quality chips, Messiah2 and DMS3. I have had mine for quite a while, and I don't experience lockups on certain parts of games, and I put my PS2 through a lot of stress.
