  1. Ok here is the picture

    http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/1.../sidecovers.jpg

I can't get the sidecovers to fit into the grooves.

ALSO, my VF-1J the ears have black smudges right out of the box. What can I use to clean them?

i think rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) is good for cleaning.

the side covers on my valks are very finicky. i can put them in the groves, but they come right out with the slightest amount of play. i don't even worry about them. get some recast side covers (you can request them in the wanted section). They look great and lock in tight. They're the same side covers that come with the GBP armor (which snaps in).

  2. personally, i hope you reconsider. the minmay decals i got from you are top notch. there are plenty of us that understand that macross does not equal life. if i recall correctly it took a few weeks to get the decals. exo took about a month to send vinyl stickers. as long as people know it could take a month or two, there should be no complaining. the decals are a really valuable service and i'm sure the majority of us really appreciate your time and effort.

    :D

  3. what is the best voltron figure in terms of durability and sculpt? The MPC toynami? Also, is saying Voltron the equivalent of calling macross "robotech"? Should i call it GoLion instead?

    and... favorite Optimus Prime/Convoy figure?

any other really amazing transforming mecha from the 80's (besides the above listed and macross of course) that i'm forgetting?

    thanks!

  4. all posed on display shelves. i make it a point to transform at least one a day. never saw the point in not playing with toys (unless you're trying to sell them for profit later or own a museum). my 1/48 max 1a, 1/100 monster, and 1/60 yf-19 get the most use and whooshing (Kyuun - ing ?). sooo much fun.

  5. okay..somebody please help me out. i downloaded the video twice (just to make sure) and cannot get it to play in either VLC or MPlayer :( . I have a 15" powerbook running OSX. VLC plays the audio for 5 seconds and quits. MPlayer won't do anything.

i would really like to watch this. thanks!

Edit: nevermind. downloaded the newest VLC player and it works perfectly!

  6. Sorry for the topic subtitle, I just couldn't resist. :ph34r:B))

    I need some help bad!

I recently acquired a Yamato 1/60 VF-1D but the canopy is MIA.

MW member Jexprime is willing to recast the canopy but we need a donor canopy for that.

Would anyone be willing to lend a hand and temporarily part with theirs so Jexprime can recast it?

I would really appreciate the help.

Ofcourse I'd jump on any offers to buy a canopy so if any of you have a spare laying around...

is the super o canopy identical to the vf-1d canopy? if so, i can help you out.

  7. I know you're not talking about copiers or cameras...

What are canon and non canon ones?

canon = official; recognized as part of continuity

example: Hikaru's VF-1A is canon because we saw it in DYRL?. The super stealth VF-1J is non-canon because it has only appeared in toy form.

  8. i finally beat Macross for PS2. the last ARMD level took me a ridiculously long time to beat with an "S" rank. i'll post my game score when i get home (somewhere around 516k methinks), but in the meantime i was wondering if anyone knew of a comparable game. Macross was by far the most fun i've ever had with a video game. it was just challenging enough that i did not breeze through, but easy enough that i accomplished every goal it a decent amount of time. the actual gameplay was very intuitive and graphics were clear enough that multiple enemies were not a confusing mess. the numerous options for valkyries and methods of killing opponents kept the game from getting stale. i rate this as the most fun i've ever had playing a video game. are there any flying games (no straight simulators) or mecha games that compare in the above aspects? i have both the us and japanese ps2. if you recommend a japanese game, it has to be something that is fairly easy to figure out on visuals alone as i can read & speak english only.

    thanks!

  9. i love my 1/48's. i don't play with my toys (much) but i do transform at least one a day to keep my display fresh (and because if i didn't want to transform them, i would have bought models). with the exception of the vf-0a's cracked shoulders (which i repaired with heaps of superglue), all of my other yamato toys have been problem free (though some required very minor mods). my monster, yf-21 and all of the 1/48's are amazing. the only reason i bought 1/60's was for the super o and elint (which i will gladly trade in if a 1/48 version ever comes out). the 1/60's look great in fighter & gerwalk (cruiser style), but i get no enjoyment out of the transformation or playing with them as they are too finicky. i think yamato is doing a fine job and expect them to get nothing but better as time goes on. i think the sub-industry yamato and the macross franchise has spawned is part of what makes this such a fun hobby. endless ideas and parts availability enable you to make your toys more individualized as well as keep them from getting stale. i don't mind paying good money for a product that i will ultimately be happy with, even if it requires an extra 10 or 20 dollars in "fan parts" to make it the best it can be. when i look at my hikaru with fp's, i don't feel contempt for yamato that i had to pop some magnets inside to keep the arms up, i feel a sense of accomplishment that i had a part in making the toy what it is. yamato's macross toys surpass bandai, takatoku, toynami and anyone else's toys stylistically and as long as you are easy on them, durability is (almost) a non-issue. the cost is justified (in my opinion). if you sweat about spending $150 on a toy, chances are that $150 could be used for something more worthwhile in your life (savings accounts or ira's). if you're nervous about a first release, wait to buy it. i had fair warning on all of my toys in every regard simply because i spent countless hours reading and researching before purchasing (thanks to graham, mw forums and jenius <3)....and i'm spent.

  10. i finally put my shelves up over the weekend so my collection could be displayed all proper-like. ridiculous how many i have, considering i bought my first in January. my girlfriend just laughs. she likes it..but would rather have it in a game room (it's in the living room of our apartment.) anyhow, hope you guys enjoy...
