  1. Never give up, never surrender!! :D Well, it's all glued together now, the break was clean so I decided to proceed and try to finish this up. Too $$$ not to try...if anyone can see the seams of the cracks later, we'll just call it ummm battle damage!! yeah, that'll work! B)) now the putty and the sanding begins!

Ahhh, one of my favorite designs by my favorite designer! Looking forward to this one.

    Good luck!

I've always had a soft spot for the F-104. My grandfather was a crew chief at Luke AFB before the F-15 and 16's came in. He'd bring us(my brother and I) out to the flightline in the evenings to watch the 104's take off. Ah, the memories....

    Great job on the models!

  3. Thanks! I'm really proud of it! Had wanted this kit for a long time, and it was a sheer joy to build! My methods will seem quite "backwoods" to this forum, im sure, but I use the water decals and seal them with clear nailpolish. I then seal the entire kit with aerosol hairspray. It takes all of my hobby funds just to purchase the kits, so I have to go to "grass roots" for my materials. The painting was minimal, thanks to the multicolor molding of the kit except for the cockpit and pilot. I am posting links to the battroid mode which will be the final display state. ;)

Hey Man, whatever works! Looks cool.

  4. Those 1/10 Beagles are probably my favorite toy. Just awesome. I only have two complaints about them...

    1. The DAMN screw in the neck! Really?

    2. There won't be a Fuke or Yellow!

BBTS still has a pre-order for the Yellow. I keep hoping that it still, somehow gets released, even though everyone in the world has stated that the line is dead.

We came so close to getting a complete set of ride armor! SO CLOSE!

I was tempted to buy an extra Lei and Stick and convert them to the Dark Mospeada. But, I just can't do it.

When I realized the line was in danger I purchased three additional Ley's to customize. Two for Fuke and Yellow and one for Jim (to accompany my WIP 1/10 scale Jeep. I was fortunate to find them for a pretty good deal($89 each). I'll post images when they're further along.

  5. I didn't. They already had it primed. But also, they have alot of places that were over done to the point where the transparent primer becomes white. In those cases, I have to re-do it myself.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm getting ready to paint mine now.

So that powdery residue (especially evident on the darker pieces) is primer? I thought perhaps it was a form of mold realease. Thats good to know. To remove the excess, did you sand or scub or what? Thanks again.

  6. If you buy any recent releases you should be fine. They're very rugged toys provided you don't get an earlier version with shoulder problems. I think I originally the V2 like a 9 on durability before we realized the breaks waiting to happen. Now that those breaks are allegedly fixed I'd give the V2 a very high score again.

Agreed. I bought the first release of the VF-1S when if first came out. It's been sitting on a shelf (never transformed) until last night. The first arm broke off with the slightest effort. The second has a visible crack just waiting! That being said, the newer releases have held up very well, thus far.

  7. I never got into the Macross 7 storyline, nor am I a fan of this color scheme, but I do like the design. It would be nice if Yamato entertained a "no paint" or low-vis" approach to this design somewhere down the line. I think they'd sway more of the "on the fence" customers.

  8. Thanks Troyness.

Here's another small update. I know wheels are not all that exciting, but ya got to have em!

These are the basic shapes for the tires, wheels and hubcaps (before details are added). The tires/wheel halves will be molded, cast and joined to form the full{symetrical} shapes. Tread will then be applied then molded once more.

  9. wow and I thought I had an addictive personality

Relax, even if they run out of stock I am sure Yamato will make more

Yeah, I won't worry too much about the "low stock" or the eventual "sold out " status at HLJ. I apparently purchased the last 1/2000 Macross from the most rescent run, afterwhich the status showed it as "discontinued". Less than a week later it was in stock. I have a feeling we'll see the 1/3000 for some time to come.
