  1. Macross Zero is better than Shadow Chronicles, no doubt about it. here it's an appreciation of both. No a Macross fan appreciation, no a Robotech fan appreciation, a general people appreciation. Macross Zero 8 out of 125 votes. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0353685 Shadow Chronicles 5.1 out of 91 votes. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443771 The only Macross Shadow Chronicles can beat it's Macross 7. And I'd say it's tied with Macross 2. Well Macross 2 it's better it has cool designs and music something Shadow Chronicles doesnt.
  2. If it's arrogance to say that because we currently do not have access to or understand a force that such a thing is "fantasy" it's equally stupid to believe anything it's possible or all the known knowledge we have is relative, in fact, there is a superior knowledge today than 100 years ago because most knowledge we have isnt relative. You dont use Einstein equations in regular day engineering mechanical physics, you use Newton's because they are accurate enough to describe the world in slow speed conditions. Einstein didnt relativize everything described before in physics, he just gave it a better form and he just talked about a few things like mass and time relativity. Now after that an undesired "everything is relative" side thinking got stronger that's wrong and ridiculous. BTW, I havent accepted the 50 feet concept per se, but I look foward the best knowledge the creators at the time can deliver. Dont tell me the monsters, Sivil and spiritia crap it's the same mushy tone than the SDF series because it just isnt, you just are being a Macross 7 fan in denial, anyone who isnt in fan mode with a very little common sense can tell that and the age rate different Macross 7 and the other macross stories have
  3. That's because the sci-fi term is widely missused. Not refering particulary to those shows, people just call Sci Fi to a story set on space no matter if it doesnt have science at all or if it contradicts science as a whole. then Why are they Science Fiction? Those shows you refered to (Star Trek and Star Wars) are "Mushy Sci Fi" the lowest level of realism in Sci Fi and which can also be considered Space Fantasy. Star Wars in particulary was defined by its creator as Space Fantasy in spite of some people calls it "Sci Fi". Macross 7 has more concepts which falls in the category of Mushy Sci Fi than SDF-Macross and some of them are just plain fantasy . Spiritia, Monsters, nuclear size energy cannon with no factible power source, and I'm not inventing them, take a look for example at the Kheper Realism scale for Grading science fiction for Realism. Macross 7 ruined any feel of reality the original could have
  4. If you want anime stories with magic there are thousands of it. Why to spoil a medium Sci Fi story which brought many people to like it because of that, with magic and fantasy. The rest of the canon macross stories have a superior grade of plausibility or realism than Macross 7, which made many people to like it because of that, and what they like was taken out from them with Macross 7. The minor thing they should have made it's treating Macross 7 as an alternative universe, if they were going to make a story for a new audience instead of a story for the original fans
  5. I dont know the seriousness of your posts but I do think Spongebob is better than Macross 7. I obviously dont like Spongebob but it's better for kids than Macross 7 is for kids or adults. At least it's for kids and you know you dont have to sit to watch it, and it doesnt crack out ideas and then add to them explanations to unsuccesfully give them a sense of less stupidity, which actually makes them worse. Macross 7 carries the Macross name, and you sit to watch a story for adults and get a story for kids and spoils a good story. After Macross 7 fans expecting a serious story wont ever know what you are going to get, because they are going to try to target the story for the fans created by Macross 7 too, and therefore dumbing the story down
  6. yeah, but it's not the other way around. You might not understand completely the way a very advanced technology works and in appearence you might see it as "magical" in part, but you cant confuse magic with technology or science. Magic doesnt follow any pattern, it allows making whatever you want, science and technology follows the patterns of the laws of the universe. Science and technology exists, magic doesnt. What can be done and what cant be done isnt all what see today, but it isnt anything either. You arent going to see monsters firing cannons , a "vampire" dragging "spiritia" flying through space with a human alike body today or in millon years
  7. "There is no magic or fantasy in Macross 7" Do you think Spiritia exists? Do you think you can take energy from singing and fire a nuclear cannon? Do you think you can create a human-alike life form who flies and lives through space and feeds from other people's spirits? Do you think there are large monsters who fires cannon from the mouths? Do you remotely care about real science and technology? Are you going to make any kind of statement to support Macross 7 or are you going to support it for what it really has? Do you really believe what you just said? Nobody appreciates science here and am I going to be the only one replying to this? I've seen some of you take into deep discussions about the factibility of science and technology in Macross, how can you implicity agree with this? because I just cant am I the only one who feels embarrased of getting deeply into sci/tech discussions about Macross and later taking for valid something like this? Dont take me wrong, it's nothing personal but someone who appreciates the credibility of the sci/tech stuff of other macross productions has to say something with a statement like that. I can deal with there might be "cool things" I cant see from Macross 7, but I cant avoid replying with someone saying something so false about Macross 7, even if it's in purpose or not. If the post it's too agressive you just will have to forgive me but what you said it's just so wrong.
  8. Im watching some Macross 7 episodes again and I truly think I could write a "100 reasons why Macross 7 sucks" No one bothered by monsters, energy music, a macross canon size beam powered by singing, Mylene healing Basara with a song? How much do you think Macross 7 influenced or could influence Macross sequels turning it more to the fantasy side? No one worried that it could make Macross sequels lose its credibility, argument quality and instead of elaborated scenarios getting childish scenarios?
  9. I think most people who doesnt like it doesnt feel confortable with saying it. It's like it's ok to say you like this or that but if you want to say it sucks or why it sucks you are persuaded not to do it because you could hurt other people's feelings or getting the topic heated. Otherwise, how can it be that 44% of people who voted it in that poll you showed me as the most hated macross show, arent saying something about it but it's all good commentaries and flowers, and you read things as the show it's good because it has good characteres, and no one saying Jesus you have a hippie pilot, cheesy villains, cheesy uniforms, masks, flying through space - spiritia "vampires", a preteen looking female pilot or most of them sucks?
  10. I've read this in one of those many Macross/Robotech boards. I dont remember which one it was but perhaps someone else also read it and it does. Tommy Yune showed some merchandising ideas to Harmony Gold since he was a comic writer and he has some ideas related to comics and other things probably. Then he was hired by Harmony Gold and he decided to bring his brother, Steve Yune to be the webmaster of robotech.com . Then Steve Yune changed his name to Steve Yun and that's probably the fanboy hired to run the website you are talking about
  11. I can imagine that someone could find it "clearly superior" because there is people for everything. But to say is a show with a few changes is completely non sense. I can imagine also though, some fans saying the opposite of what is because it happens in any discussion, someone always fills that empty place. Also, speaking for people who isnt here it's very easy, but if you watched a fire bomber concert in Japan you'd see that's full of teens and that wasnt the original japanese Macross fanbase. Finally, the amount of episodes of a show doesnt make it any good. How many episodes did Pokemon have? The only thing you left to say it's a show for mature people. I imagine you can also say that, cant you? Also you made an statement to back you up, that the show is supported by Kawamori and Studio Nue and that poll made here it's a distorsion of the truth. That's a way to discourage many of saying what they really think about Macross 7 because they would fell into the "not complete loyal Macross fan" . Who would support Macross 7 is if were known it isnt liked by most people and Kawamori & Studio Nue wouldnt support it? I really dont think Kawamori and Nue would make some heroical support to the show if it were known for example, they could make a real movie and that kind of show cant reach a Live Action Movie audience. Didnt Kawamori also say that Macross 7 was something that made him able to make Macross Plus, or am I wrong? I dont think that's what you say of something you are proud of. Now any of you imagine what really could happen if you put to people who often goes to see an action movie to cinemas a Live Action Macross 7 on screen and what could happen if you put another Macross show on screen.
  12. So, aparently it's the other way, the most hated is Macross 7 not Macross 2? Well I have to confess it's kind of a relief to know that Macross isnt going to turn into Macross 7 alike stuff so easily because many fans dont like it.. but what about if it happens? What would you do if Macross 7 style come backs and takes over the way of doing Macross sequels? It's already the largest Macross part, with all that ovas and movie isnt it?
  13. Hello, new guy here. I watched Macross 7 some weeks ago and I started to wonder from the beginings why people thinks Macross 2 is worse than Macross 7. Dear god that series really sucks. Did it miss any creative people from the original series or something? It's so different to the other Macross. I felt like I was getting retarded when I was watching it. Moreover, some friends of mine saw me watching it and I felt so embarrased. I many time spoke highly about Macross to them and when they saw what I was watching they looked at me as if I were a complete idiot stuck in his 6 years, and who could easily be a fan of Pokemon too. And that's not the worse part, but to feel they were right to look me that way, I even couldnt come up with a single justification to tell them "this isnt as stupid as it looks" Anyway.. the purpose of my topic is to know if someone could give me a logical explanation, for me to try to understand why macross fans thinks Macross 2 is worse than Macross 7. I think Macross 7 is worse by far than Macross 2. Does anyone else think the way I do, that Macross 2 is better than Macross 7?
