  1. Yes, I know you had addressed this in the first issue but the bonus is your posting more art from the book. :)

Don't like the real world mock-up. He needs the cross breasted jacket and a broom handle pistol.

I get to be the first to say, stay true to the comic. :p

  2. Damn you Marvel

Since you cast the first stone at the giant, I have read in some of the other blogs, English and German, that Captain China is just a knock-off of Captain America.

OK.... and the Buran wasn't a knock-off of the space shuttle or the Sukhoi T-50 the same of the F-22. Similar technology that looks the same because they are based on the same scientific principles as explained in issue 1: During the cold war each side would want a super solider.

What is kind of insulting is that the Ultimates is a knock-off of the Avengers but not many cried foul because Marvel owns both franchises and Colonel Abdul al-Rahman was the worst stereotypical knock-off of Captain America.

Yes and for hardcopies, a graphic novel collection starting with the origin story and then following issues with a theme that ties them all together should work if e-sales are high enough.

Advertising costs money but just word of mouth alone can get confusing. If you google “Captain China” without comic you get a 1950’s movie.

I hope that your venture becomes a success but if it remains on the fringe and there are no hardcopies then in a few years technology will no longer allow your creation to exist. Just imagine what would have become of “The Rocketeer” or “Ninja High School” if they were limited to e-copies or how many books that didn't become popular until long after the author had passed.

  3. The reason is very simple. I have NO money. This book was done with a shoe-string budget.

That being the case, how many e-copies need to sell before hardcopies are printed?

I know the 21st century is going paperless but consider all that has already been lost in the technological transfer from film to video tape to DVD.... not just talking about the effects of a strong magnetic field... but of those productions that were 'obscure' productions and considered unworthy of transfer like Tom Selleck's "High Road to China".

  4. no politics

    By your Command!

helped propel my no promotional budget book into becoming a world wide phenomenon.

Was the no promotional due to a dislike of hype and marketing?

I don't know many writers but the few that I do absolutely hate marketing. Looking at what ‘hype masters’ like Bay produce.... I hope to see more stories that are advanced on merit and not glitz.

  5. No point, I'm celebrating the Cultural Revolution! Yay! May Chairman Mao rise from the dead and live on as the son of heaven for a thousand years, leading China on to great prosperity!

Dude! Don't know what to think of that. Do you polish that giant Mao head statue in Richmond?

  6. There were definitely aliens, though they were friendly for the most part:

    2012-mascot.jpg

Two giant "one eyed" monsters in front of a rainbow. I am already fearful.

lol, well... if you're gonna poop all over a show because of questionable physics... stay away from star trek, star wars, x-men, avengers, batman, superman, ET, you know, any work of fiction in the past 6000 years or so.

In Star Wars and BSG, they couldn't teleport matter so we can't enjoy Star Trek or Blake's 7? Different universes, different times, and different technologies.

None of those examples are the same genre as Revolution, near time post-apocalyptic, need to keep it to Escape of New York/LA, Walking Dead, I am Legend, Omega Man, Postman, Water World,...... Zardoz. ;)

    when does this air?

  7. the discovery channel has a show about mega natural disasters and one of the episodes is about a massive solar storm that fries all the electronics. If the storm were big enough then all the transformers would blow and if that happened, it would take years, if not decades to restore power on a global scale because there's only a few factories that produce them and you would need thousands of them.

It's not a stretch to say that during the black out phase that governments fell and anarchy and tribalism took over.

I dunno... I think it's funny that people who like a show that's about a pop song ending a space war featuring giant humanoid aliens that pilot giant eggs with chicken legs and planes that turn into robots find a show about a global perpetual blackout to be too high concept.

Macross was satirical from its concept and not intended to be a near future commentary on current society.

All works of science fiction, fantasy, and adventure require the audience to suspend disbelief in return for entertainment. The closer the work is to current events the less suspension will be allowed by the audience. Even those that enjoy the genre, in this case post apocalyptic, will not always accept the premise of the storyline.

As posted before, this appears like “The Postman” but the visuals in the movie were more acceptable since the people were not very clean and the clothing not well maintained. In the show, it looks like fashion and laundry still works.

Even what we see of the in-universe laws in the previews doesn’t make much sense. A USB pendant is immune for the continuing effects of the blackout. Is it by design of the internal circuits or the metal casing?

Since batteries don’t work, why does metal still corrode?

Whatever is generating the blackout must have a power source; both that power source and the blackout machine must be maintained and also shielded.

  8. I guess what makes me facepalm the most.. did electricity somehow get erased from existence? EMP type effects wiping out electronics, sure, but are they saying that nothing makes electricity anymore?

Like.. are we saying that physics have been re-written and you no longer get shocked from walking across carpet in socks? Or that turning a crank on a generator won't generate a charge? Or that even nature itself has been reformed, and thunderstorms don't exist anymore?

Seriously. And then somehow, someone has a working computer? <_<

Glad someone else can up with this because, yes, EMP won't kill everything.

  9. The premise of the show makes absolutely no sense.

Every cop and soldier either ignored their duty or died at the hands of the militia then a decade and a half without power, so now that lawlessness is widespread... lets turn everything back on and all will be well.

  10. "Revolution takes place in a post-apocalyptic future. Fifteen years earlier, an unknown phenomenon permanently disabled all advanced technology"

Does anyone else want to think that the 'unknown' phenomenon is Snake using the Sword of Damocles at the end of Escape from LA?

  11. I guess we're stuck in the Verhoeven 80's here in Toronto!

Now I know why I like Toronto more as time goes on. You are litterly winding back the clock and doing it so well that Winnipeg has the Jets again.

Have yet to see the new movie. Some shows are put on the buy DVD list right from the start.

  12. Wasn't directed toward you. Please tell your inside friends there is support on the "outside".

I assume they didn't want to compete with the Olympics.

It is just difficult to support the show and watch it live... to hopefully improve the rating when even the scheduled listings on the Disney XD website are wrong.

They also show Tron every Thursday at 8 pm.

I haven't made such an effort since "Tales of the Gold Monkey" was on the air.

  13. Guess the whole net is confused... But the following is official...

Tron Uprising will resume on the 2nd of August. It's taking a season break.

Official what???? Wasn't on the schedule and not shown.

Did anyone get this program tonight?

Disney is not doing itself any favors jerking the program around.

  14. Wowzers!

Was there a new episode on last night?

    My DVR didn't record anything.

    Chris

It wasn't broadcast. Tron was shown on the guide listing but when I selected the channel it was some crappy wizard junk.

So much for trying to watch it live to help the ratings.

  15. Saw mt first episode on TV and not via download, still a rather straight line plot....but.....I am really glad this was made yet looking that the other programming on Disney XD, am left with the feeling that Tron is the best thing they have to offer and the rest of their stuff is the junk that should be cancelled.

  16. For those that downloaded the two free episodes from Itunes, did you get them to sync?

I can't seem to get them to sync to my Ipod classic.

Are free-bees now restricted to computer only?
