Here we go! Riiiiiidge Racer! I know poor Kaz Hirai and his Ridge Racer gaf have been beaten to a bloody pulp, but I found this variation of it a few days ago and found it too funny to not post it here.

Since this $100 cut on the 60 GB PS3 is apparently just an inventory clearing measure, this probably explains why Microsoft didn't quickly slash prices on the Xbox 360, but I wouldn't be surprised if price cuts are coming very soon to make the 360 more competitive with the Wii and to really undercut the PS3.

I forgot where I saw it, but I think the talk ahead of the E3 was that the Core and Pro would drop $50 each and the Elite would be an $80 cut. Of course the Halo 3 360 with its 20GB hard drive and HDMI port is hard to say. With over 11 million+ systems produced, the 360 is in a much more comfortable spot for a cut then the PS3.

That's not the point or focal point of the story (the part you're embelishing is the three year extended warranty announcement). The point was that one of Microsoft's officers quickly sold off millions of dollars of stocks ahead of the three year warranty announcement because he knew that it would be hurt by the announcement.

I tried it last night. Looks awesome. My main complaint is that since the game is clearly designed with HD in mine, virtually all the text on the HUD (especially anything designating firends or foes) was imposible to read on my 10 year old, 25 inch Samsung TV. But even in SD, again this game looks awesome.

A lot of the songs are by the same artists who had stuff on the first Guitar Hero (like Black Sabbath and David Bowie - Suffragette City, awesome! ). Of course the big news yesterday was that Metallica's Enter Sandman will be on Rock Band and that more Metallica will be coming via DLC... hopefully more classic Metallica stuff like Seek and Destroy, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and other classic 80's stuff will be part of the DLC. Song pack #4 came out early yesterday for 360 GHII (more GHI songs). Once again, still over priced at 500 points for the pack. Obviously, very few people are happy about this...

Over at Bungie's site, they seem to be hinting that the Halo 3 edition 360 will have HDMI to it. So I wonder if this this is suppose to be an Elite, an Elite with just a 20GB hard drive or what. As for the lack of excitement over this variation of the system, how often do extra color variations of a system get a big reaction at these shows anyway. They'll probably do a limited run and they should probably have no problems selling it out. Looks like the guy above answered my question a minute ago!

Downloading it and a whole bunch of other goodies as I speak! Don't know if I'll have the chance to play it tonight though.

Gotta give the Killzone guys some props, though I bet they were sweating some bullets ever since E3 2005 trying to make this game even come close to the trailer. I got to question those flying troop transports though... who want want to sit on a flat metal surface, no seats, no seat belt straps or nothing while flying through the air miles up? Anyway, looks like a good show case of the system's power. I understand that poor Kaz Hirai had his claim to fame as Mr Riiiiiidge Racer further cemented when he was involved with the Home demo and the other Sony guy was giving him grief that he was there to show off Riiiiiiidge Racer!

I think Mass Effect is his first choice.

A few things from the E3: More XBLA arcade games announced. Sonic and Golden Axe hit Live tonight (don't know if Golden Axe is the Genesis or arcade version)... sucks that I'm out of points right now. Bungie's cult shooter, Marathon: Durandel, is coming to XBLA. The "gray" 360 people saw earlier today may have been the green Halo 3 edition Xbox 360. I assume it's a Pro system. A live action trailer from the guy who I think was in line to direct the Halo movie and Weta is shown (nice!). A new Halo 3 trailer is shown showing a lot more of the single player game and cut scenes in action. Ace Combat 6 is an exclusive to the Xbox 360. Resident Evil 5 trailer is shown. Looks like it will be set in Africa. Call of Duty 4 looks awesome. Looks like they'll be doing a public beta. Gears of War is heading to PC. Cliffy B does a demo showing a stage where you get to fight that one big Locust beast that had the big guns on its arms. Lots of other stuff, too. I'd go to Joystiq or any of the other major game sites and blogs for info. Suprisingly, no mention of a price cut tonight.

A 4th model 360?? In this picture that was taken from where Microsoft's keynote speach will be given in a few hours, four 360's were seen onstage. Two white one's with a hard drive, the black Elite with a hard drive, and what appears to be a 360 (again with a hard drive) colored in a shade of gray. Since the Elite with its black finish was suppose to be a limited time only, the gray 360 might be the long term version of the Elite, IMHO.

Getting the majority of action out of LA and out to somewhere else in the US or even somewhere else in the world for that matter (at least for Jack and some of the main characters ) would be a good thing. The center of the universe, or at least the United States, isn't Los Angeles, CA!

That's the highest resolution shot of that scene so far, but it's way too early to make a judgement off of a shot like that. Killzone 2 will probably be a great looking game and will probably be enjoyable on its own merits (until I got my 360, Halo 2, and Xbox Live, I liked Killzone since it had bots to play with on the multiplayer games), but when it comes down to it, Sony over extended itself at the 2005 E3 with incomplete hardware (the final PS3 was bigger) and vaporware games ("projections" of what the games might look like) all in a desperate effort to steal Microsoft's thunder.

It didn't get posted here last week, but IGN had a pretty big Halo 3 update including a ton of more multiplayer pictures including the Spartan armor variations. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/800/800901p1.html

Enjoy your PS3 which you spent a $100 too much on, dude. If you look back through the original Xbox 360 thread, you will see all of our cases, including mine, where our 360's went out on us along with our own cases of what it took to get a replacemen, either good or bad stories. My first one went out on me about 8 months after I got it at launch; my refurbished one has lasted me over 11 months now. While I was waiting for my replacement 360 (which shipping and replacement was totally free for me), I used the time to go back to my PS2 and some of my other systems. When I got my first PS1 on launch day September 9, 1995, it went 6 months before it went flakey on me. I got it to limp by another year plus (FMV and some audio would skip) and I got a second system which has lasted to this day (even got it modded). Though it was a disappointment that my first PS1 ran into troubles, I loved the games that were coming out on the system and the over all experience of the PlayStation brand. Other then my first 360 crapping out on me and the few weeks of inconvenience it caused, this has become one of my most favorite systems and game system experiences ever (online play, Marketplace, etc.). To Microsoft's credit, they have admitted that there is a problem and they are taking measures to rectify the situation; has Sony ever admitted there were a high rate of PS1's (especially the early ones) and PS2's that had problems? (Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my PS1 and 2 a lot - and still do, even still buying PS2 games - and if it wasn't for being drawn to the 360 because of Halo, I would probably have a PS3 today).
