Well now I might preorder a reissue of the VR-052F to see if they revised those joints like they had on Houquet. I don't have a buddy at Sentinel anymore that I can ping for info :(

I haven't reviewed the Houquet because I have very little time for reviews these days and a massive backlog. I'm chipping away at it but these new reissues may be out before I get to Houquet.

I always enjoy your comprehesive reviews. Houquet is not your top priority? I see.

yikes!, now Im regretting PO this figure 😕, I mean the original Riobot releases aren't that old  and already has that  many joints affected?, not cool not cool at all.

For this Mospeada series, Sentinel always has issues in their 1st release. They only fix these issues in later releases. So if they release a new Tread series in the future, I will wait and see....

Note sure if anybody's mentioned this, but it may be worth noting that the VR-038L uses a different, wholly solid pin for that connection (compared to the hollow, rolled metal pin on the first 3 VRs). That may have been the fix for that issue. 🤷‍♂️

My Stick's both rings were cracked by itself. For the 4th Mospeada Rider Bartley, I notice those gray plastic parts material were changed. The glossiness is different.  Anybody know what those new and old plastic was called? ABS? The new one is much stronger? Among 4 Riders' release, Bartley's QC is the best. There were no issues at all. It is reasonable to expect Sentinel will use the same new plastic masterial in those coming reissue versions? If so, I will preorder one more Stick for spare, and surprisingly the PO price is even lower than the 1st issue.

By the way, Jenius why you didn't do a review on Bartley?

I was working on my B2Five review and it was going to end "C'mon B2Five, give us a matching Alpha!" Then I went to comic con and saw this. You can tell the pilot is a B2Five by the pegs on the wrist

I am looking forward to your B2FIVE review. There is not much review on Youtube about that small cyclone series. You are right, I didn't notice the pegs on the wrist.

  5. I chat with a staff of POSE+ and ask him why the scale of Alpha is so huge. He said because they develop the size of Alpha according to the scale of the small armoured cyclone figure in the cockpit. That figure is the same scale of the released small B2FIVE Battler Cyclone, which POSE+ did the design work for B2FIVE.

Does Sentinel ever show Mospeada products outside Japan? I think they only have the Japanese license.

Seems not. But Sentinel is a Japan and Hong Kong joint-venture company. Designs are completely by Japan. Hong Kong involves in manufacture.

Slight digression: we get 6 months of "maintenance service" here if we buy from their official store.

The following video tutorial illustrates a similar process to what I described; the intended application is different, but the making of the ABS paste would be almost the same... unfortunately you're denied the convenience of an ABS sprue tree to cannibalize:

Thanks Mechaninac. I will see if I can handle it or not. I also have another idea to  reinforce the connection: to glue a thin stainless steel “plate” under the two separated parts. Such plate may be customed from some photo-etched parts. The difficulty is that it is a curved surface, as you can see from above pictures. So may be I need to glue a small portion of metal rod with appropriate curvature? I don’t know.

Those parts look like ABS or something similar. Putty won't bond to it and it will constantly crack. Ideally the part should be replaced. I think this is something that 3D printing can do well, provided that something tough (nylon?) is used.

    Thank you Captain.

    14 hours ago, mechaninac said:

The only "putty" that could work to fix those rips would be one created from a similar grade and color of ABS dissolved with liquid plastic weld (Ambroid, etc.), by submerging ABS shavings in the weld to make your own ABS paste; this paste, in turn, once properly applied, would not only fill the cracks and bridge the gaps but also melt itself into the part and become one with it.

Thank you Mechaninac. Sounds very technical for me. I will try to figure it out how to do it.

  9. Hi, Captain america and any modeling experts in here, I need your advice. Do you think it is appropiate to fix the cracks by filling the gap with Tamiya Putty? Is it strong enough to hold up the stress? Which type of Tamiya Putty will you recommend? Or any other way of fixing will you recommend? Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks.

wonder what it would take to custom engineer a part like that in metal...

That "plastic ring" cannot be dismantled. Unless someone customs a part that could hold the two metal parts together and install it in place.

I think they are waiting for Autumn WonFest

Agree. By past experience, Sentinel's Mospeada items usually displayed in Japan's toy show only. I don't know why. They never displayed mospeada prototypes in Hong Kong's any toy shows before.

On the b25 front... At least the display stand seems like a notable improvement.

Seems no progress at all, same grey prototypes w/ no coloring, since last display on Feburary 2020. Nine months by now.

That makes the mystery of where TFSource got these even weirder if it is first release. It's like their initial outlay got lost in the mail or something.

The 1st release should be sold out long ago. I wonder why TFSource is still in stock. It is a good deal anyway.

    Sure. This one?

Yes. This is the 1st issue. Be careful when you transform it into armour-mode. You better first put something like adhesive tape in the belly of the figure before putting the bike on the body. Otherwise the metal rod of the bike might leave a stress mark or even scratch the belly. This was my lesson. I heard Sentinel fixed this issue in their 2nd release by fine tuning something.

Got my Stick ride armor from TF Source. The tape was cut on the box, but the box was in good condition and the toy inside looked untouched. No stress marks on the connectors either. Still don't know where these came from but since I waited to long and can no longer get Stick for retail, $20 more than retail is pretty damn awesome.

Congratulation! I always wanna get a second Stick. But it is too late. Once the Legioss was released, almost all Sticks were sold out.

Your Stick is 1st  or 2nd issue? Could you take a photo of the barcode outside the box?

I preordered the Stick and am waiting for September to see if it actually does release. I'm curious since I haven't seen any other re-release info anywhere but TfSource.

I wonder if it is a real preorder. I don't see this preorder anywhere else. Besides, arrives in September, very unlikely.

For those in the know, do you think that the stock that comes to the American retailers will be intial issues or reissues? Just curious, as I orderd mine through TFSource, and it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if we ended up getting reissues with some of the known issues fixed. I don't expect that's the case, but it's a nice thought.^_^

I think Sentinel will fix those known issues as far as they can in the reissue, just like what happened to ride armour Stick.

That's the influence of all the other European languages, of course, with their contradictory spellings and unique phonemes; if you research the etymology of "decal," it turns out to be a French abbreviation, which explains the inconsistent pronunciation.  Those of us unfamiliar with the French term are likely to read the word based on English phonetics, so we've got it wrong... but if enough people make the same mistake long enough, we end up with new pronunciations like "Paris" (completely different from the proper French pronunciation) that become established as unique for that language.  Japanese is full of these ignorant mistakes becoming full-fledged Japanese words, with consistent meanings and pronunciations existing separate from their original English roots.

He doesn't watch the shows often, but @jenius knows what he's talking about.  :good:

Same as a VF-1, chair rotates and the pilot looks at monitors showing the action outside. I don't recall them every making a point of showing the cameras though... But one assumes they're in the head. The green one has the big obvious eye.

Thanks Jenius.  I see what you mean. It’s a common design in Japanese cartoon robot. However, it is weird that I can hardly see any opening of cameras in the head. The design of the head could be more stylish.
