They owe me six sets so I kind of want something to happen lol

I ordered a few from NY and they never arrived. I submitted tickets last week requesting for refunds. These were processed yesterday and now I have a bunch of store credit at NY which I don’t know what to spend on...

Lesson learned the hard way. :(

I think I'm in exactly the same position as you.  I made the mistake of assuming scammers were limited to Ebay and if an auction price was high, it couldn't be a scam.  Misery loves company, I hope...

From this we can conclude that they do not have 1500 strike parts to begin with, as the preorder is closed once it's sold out at Bandai website.

Question is whether N-Y ordered in bulk from Bandai. If not, everyone who ordered from them (after Bandai sold out) is screwed. Myself included.

  4. This is insane.

Scalpers are already showing up on Yahoo.jp auctions.  It looks like a run on the Strike parts has occurred.  I put an order into NY.  Fingers crossed.

Well, I got my VF-1D today.  I did an inspection and everything looked great.  Then I tried to transform it and discovered that I got Bandai'd!  The plate under the head will tilt forward for the seat gimmick, but it will not tilt past the 90 degree Battroid position to tuck under the cockpit.  It seriously feels like it will snap off at the hinge if I try to bend it past that position.  I may need to figure out some way to push out the roll-pin to figure out what's wrong with it.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Mine felt similar. I took off the head and forced it, which worked.

  6. Don’t use Taobao for this. I prepaid in full many months ago for the DX Vf-1J and the Taobao store did not get stock for me.

The super cheap entries now could be pre-orders for the VF-1J which hasn’t even had a re-issue announced.

DX VF-1A listing on Rakuten Global Market. But.... at 28,728 yen.

    https://global.rakuten.com/en/store/speedwagon/item/10002943/

FromJapan has a 10% off Rakuten purchases promotion going on now.

Separately, you can access Yahoo Japan auctions via FromJapan. The VF-1A Max from scalpers is currently around ¥26,000 shipped to FromJapan’s warehouse. Shipping to your location will be on top of that. The prices seem to be edging down slowly, like Amazon Japan 3rd party sellers.

I caved and bought from Yahoo Japan auction.

I clicked this minutes after you responded, and it was only available from third party sellers. This is still the case.

Is N-Y selling the first press edition?

The only version in existence right now is the first edition with the flight stand for fighter mode. Good luck.

  9. Seeing the ads for this figure is what drew me into collecting Macross figures about 6 months ago.  I had been a TF MP collector prior to that.  I fell into the deep end... catching up on the HMR line within a couple of months.  Thanks to the promise of this DX VF-1J, I have avoided the temptation of collecting Yamato v2s and Arcadia (their inflated prices for someone coming late to the game made it easier.)

Now that I have the DX in hand, I can say that it's worth the wait.  Wow, what a figure.  A childhood dream come true.  Only niggles to me are: the movable tail fins and wing flaps (won't use them and contribute to fragility) and the fact that the legs section separates easily unless you consciously try to keep it attached to the swing bar to achieve perfect (i.e. one piece) transformation. Oh yeah, pilot's a bit small.

    9.9/10.

^ for the eventual GBP armor.

Paid for amiami as soon as payment request was sent yesterday, no shipping notification. The request for payment also says they will close the store today so yeah, it will be shipped after New Year. (same for NY, I guess)

HMR’s GBP doesn’t need fins to fold.

I hope we are not going to revisit the whole fragile leg fin fiasco from the DX YF-19. Some one has already reported that the fins are sheared at the pins.

BTW - Tekering those pictures look fantastic!

Urge. Why does that fin even need to fold? For the crouching poses?

The Postal Strike is now over and according to this:

    http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/canada-post-restores-all-service-guarantees/ar-BBReSBy?li=AAggXBV&ocid=DELLDHP

Everything is back to normal except for the Vancouver sorting facility as it's catching up on the piled up packages that was stored in the trailers during the strike. I have a package from Hong Kong on the way and it won't be delivered till the first or second week of the New Year and hopefully it will get by customs with no issues.

As for the DX missile sets, not going to get it as I'm waiting for the Supers and the hands for the eventual Strike release for Roy upon release.

Does that mean the Postal Strike parts are no longer available?

From Japan might end up being the cheapest if you’re not from Australia and shipping more than 2 units.

if you’re from Australia it will potentially be more  expensive than other proxy stores as From Japan are enforcing the GST collection for Australian customers.

They only charge ¥300 - ¥700 service fee flat rate, but I’m not sure what their payment fee is for purchasing on your behalf. Might be a percentage?

I don’t think there’s any other service fee with FromJapan

All you have to do is copy and paste the product URL into the main search function in FromJapan. That will bring you into a different page for proxy purchase. Filled in the blanks and within minutes I had an email and then a payment request. I guess the downside is it’s full payment upfront.

Agree and I think the intention was to show an amateur handling a DX Valkyrie's transformation for the first time.  Personally I'm not too mesmerized by her looks though. :)

Agreed, sir.  And frankly, the fact that the fins or wing flaps didn't pop off gives me hope that this will be better than the YF-19.

  15. I’m a noob when it comes to ordering via proxy (I have used From Japan for auctions and Rakuten purchases though).

How does one use a proxy service to purchase TWE items like the missile set?

And is NY the other option? Will they have pre-orders on the 20 Dec even for TWE items?

    Thanks

Which version of the 1s do you want @vlenhoff?

    Manda has 3 listings Hikaru's - https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1099769111&ref=list

Amazon japan has Roy, Hikaru and Messer -  https://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1/357-5905649-3474718?__mk_ja_JP=カタカナ&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=hi-metal+r *

*Note that Roy's and Hikaru's version are quite pricy (23k+ yen). As for the other stores like AE, Amiami, CDJ, et all, it maybe be sold out. If they have it in stock, then the asking price will might be in the 24k+yen range.

I was late to the HMR game and rushed to acquire the earlier releases from Mandarakd and other online stores.

I wish I had known about From Japan. Go check out the listings there. There is a constant stream of VF-1Ss at good prices. Less than 20k. If your desired item is from Rakuten, From Japan regularly have 10% discount sales.

In other words, their system automatically defaults to whatever price the item currently sells for on their site, and customer service has to manually adjust the pre-order price to what you were originally charged.  Just wait 24 hours, and check to see whether the price you'll be charged is back to what it used to be.

I have to say... that’s a terrible system!

The best is the one you can secure a pre-order with.

I found hlj to be expensive but packaging is best(?). Out of the yf-19 I ordered hlj box was the biggest but also the only one that got detained by customs.

Ami is also at par with hlj IMO, but at times, hard to secure pre-orders.

CDJ is becoming my de-facto shop but prices fluctuate and payment system is slow. Using PayPal you will need to pay in advance. Their reward system is good to offset shipping and at times a good discount.

NY is cheapest but hard to secure pre-orders, and recent business practises have dinked their reputation a bit. Reward system can be profitable but you need to buy a lot.

AE and NY also list slower than the rest so it’s a gamble to preorder as you don’t know when they list.

Amazon seems to be having some good links recently.

nin- nin, my kombini are gambles most of the times.

Thanks for the detailed response!  I wonder if the VF-4 is going to sell out ll that quickly... The last few Hi-Metal R releases (Elint and Ostrich) don't appear to have sold very well.  You can pick them up for Y6000-7000 or so... less than pre-order prices.
