New info on the game.
There's going to be a limited edition of the game, it's already listed on play-asia. Seems like it's an extra UMD with OP and ED of the Macross shows and an interview with Kawamori. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-9f-77-...ss-70-3iiz.html
scan of the famitsu article from srwwordpress. can anyone translate the little blurb about the limited edition?

Not sure if its worth it for those with non-japanese PSPs because of the region lock on movies. sad face.... tear.... sparkle....
So, we have a release date: October 1st.
And it's confirmed in Amazon:

How does one go about upgrading firmware on a PSP? Do you have to take it into a Sony Pro Shop and they do it for you?
Graham
Nope, connect to the internet via the Wi-Fi and there's an option called "update".
Other option is to download the firmware here: http://asia.playstation.com/hk/en/support/osUpdate/psp
edit: here's a better explanation on how to do it : http://asia.playstation.com/hk/en/support/p/updateMethod_PSP

Great! and the pilot's color is green, not another Kakizaki clone

No one's posted the VF-1 yet? (saw it a couple hours ago, but couldn't get into MW at the time)
It's not really a part of the VF100's line since it's made by Wave, not by Bandai... but it actually appears to be a toy / "completed model" more than a model kit...
-
Not sure if this has been posted yet, but this site has some (scratch that: LOTS) new screenshots and models from the upcoming game (including some of those from Macross II like the VF-2SS):
http://www.gpara.com/comingsoon/psp_macross_ultimate/090724/
The various "packs" look awesome!
I see some screens with up to six wingmen.
And...is that a playable Quarter Pounder I see?
Edit: Would love some English translations of some of the blurbs from those who know Japanese better than I, especially of the Heroine System if there are details provided on how that's all supposed to work. From what I can see, in addition to Sheryl and Ranka, there's both flavors of Minmei, Sybil from 7, Myung from Plus, Sara from Zero, and Elma Hollie from Dynamite 7.
Looks like you can remove the GBP from the 1J during the game!!! COOL!

back to MC, i'm up to #25 but contemplating whether i should continue. have any of the previous Chronicle-type publications ever been compiled into book form?
Not a compilation, but I think there's an illustration book from the Evangelion Chronicles:

edit: changed link for a better one

If this is the "upgraded" super part they have been talking about for the movie version, I am happy with my current TV version.
Apparently it is... it's not entirely white, it's a bit grayish, and the red is a bit faded. It actually fits the description in HLJ's website. I didn't know the Super Pack would look like that though

Hmm........metallic finish VF100s VF-25F & VF-25S. Think I will pass.
Graham
Could those be the movie version VF-25s?
Remember HLJ's description of the DX re-issue: "Color differences include a slight blue-gray tone on the Valkyrie's white body, fading red tone, dark metallic tone joints..."

Is it actually out?
Anybody here actually have it in their hands yet?
As of last Friday, the stores here were saying end of the month.
Graham
It's also for sale @ yamato's website: http://www.yamato-toys.com/ec/items/detail...p;infolnk=index
It has a release date of July 15th (yesterday) and... the website lists the index of the book:

From the Tokyo Toy Show link that CF18 posted in the VF100's thread (http://blog.hobbystock.jp/report/2009/07/tp0165.html):

any news on the vf-25g ranka and sound booster set? i thought it was supposed to come out in july.
According to OverDrive's latest newsletter, they will be released on the 28th.
-
Damn, I was going to stop buying the VF100's but this one looks VERY good!

HLJ has a pretty good description of what the new vf-25 super-pack will look like. Sorry I can't post the link as I'm using my wife's I touch and it doesn't have the cut/paste function. Sorry if this is old news.

I hope this one comes with an improved crotch lock

Is volume 1 officially sold out now that volume 2 is released? Or, is volume 1 still something that can be backordered?
Also, I am curious as to what I ordered on the Nippon Export online store. I noticed the "Irregular Issues". Does that mean that the issues do not come out regularly like once a week or once a month, or does it mean that the item itself has a defect. I'm hoping it's just a poorly translated notice.
The qty is a bit confusing as well. If I put down 2, does that mean that I will get vol 2 and then vol 3 eventually. Does putting 2 mean I will get vol 1 and vol 2 provided they still have copies of vol 1. Does it mean that I ordered 2 copies of the latest vol 2? If I put down 1, does that mean that I will get vol 1 or vol 2 since vol 2 is the newest one? I'm hoping someone who has already ordered from them will offer some insight as I am thinking there is a language barrier if I inquire myself.
http://www.nippon-export.com/catalog/produ...oducts_id=28878
I think the "irregular issues" term refers to the publication schedule of the magazine. Regarding the quantity, I believe if you put 2 you get 2 and 3... and if they're out of vol. 002 you'll get 03 and 04. But I think it's easier if you e-mail them directly... their response time is not bad
I only ordered "1" and I got volume 002 from them.

Another shop with more description:
http://www.happinetonline.com/NASApp/mnas/...D=4543112603425
The text appears to say there will be color changes in multiple areas.
If this has something to do with what kresphy just posted in the Macross F News section (VF-25のスーパーパックはリニューアルして新しくなる
), I think this will be the first "movie version" VF-25

Been meaning to ask, does the VF-1 look any different in Macross The First?
Has Mikimoto tweaked or updated it at all?
Graham
I just got my copy of Mac Ace 002 today and the VF-1D's head does look different... I'll take a pic later today.
Macross Ultimate Frontier for the Sony PSP.

Just came back from Japan and I was able to watch the trailer for Ultimate Frontier @ a store in Akihabara... WOW. It appears that Battle 7 will be available to use too. I hope the trailer is made available online anytime soon.
I took also a pic of list of the contents of the extra UMD disc... I'll post it here once I get to download all the pics from the camera.
BTW, the release date IS October 1st
