  1. I love the tampo printing and leg proportions better than Yamato, but not sure I'm liking what they did with the backpack depth. The overhead shelf hiding the huge gap looks ok, but the side profile isn't nearly as attractive.

I haven't gotten in on an order yet anyway, so might be moot.

  2. Transformed Gamlin VF-22 a few times and had fun showing my son "deliimiter" mode.  Still holding up great and my favorite single valk I own.  Put on the last episode of Dynamite 7 so he could see it briefly in action.

I would like slightly thicker legs (even if they were partsformer swaps for battroid, but thinking hollow and slightly bowing out the belly plays should give enough clearance), heat shield cover and there should be a small ball joint on the head laser (perhaps a ratcheted center position).

  3. I thought about this awhile back and seems like the idea would seem most applicable to a smaller single engine valkyrie somewhere between an F-16 and F-35 style design.  Economics never seems to be really be a large factor in valkyrie evolution or procurements , except perhaps with reference to YF-21/VF-22.  Perhaps a smaller or less aggressive power output for improved active stealth.

  4. Cool, I'll check it out.  A well integrated combined Legioss/Tread is something no one has done yet.  Multiple modes, ideally no partsforming.

  5. I'm indifferent and would get them either way.  Maybe regular matte and premium gloss?

I guess most of all I want the Dynamite 7 "whale blood" red VF-19P.

Not at all surprised that Delta resonated with a younger, mostly female crowd, especially in Japan. It definitely did not resonate with me, an American retired Veteran in his forties at the time of release. Macross Plus hit home in a big way, as did SDF:M, Macross Zero (those dogfights!), and Frontier for its more mature storytelling, good use of the music/singers, and the lovely VF-25 and variants. M7 didn't really grab me like the others, and not until I was already halfway through. Couldn't stand useless Basara and hated most of his songs. The VF-19 was wasted on him. I also didn't like that Max and Milia were split up- such a good team; putting those two characters from the OG series in that situation was just gas on the fire. I hope the next series is more like Plus or Frontier and less like Delta or M7 with at least three new valk designs to salivate over. I like the stories when they're good, but I'm in it for the awesome transforming jets.

Today's kids' focus on electronics and heavily on social media as opposed to collecting toys and figures is just sad. :( Toy loving nerds need to take back the world! When the internet goes down, I have plenty of toys to keep myself occupied; I don't need likes and subscribers to give me a sense of purpose or validation. Alas, the situation doesn't bode well for toymakers down the road after all of us 80s kids are gone.

Interesting perspective.  I'm a slightly younger combat vet (OIF), and normally love the serious ones (Macross Plus and SDF are my favorite) but Macross 7 remains one of my favorites, above even DYRL (which is just too short and I prefer the TV designs TBH and if they're gonna do the big samurai shoulders, they might as well have speakers or sound boosters on them :D ).  My wife was certainly surprised.  As I was crossing the Euphrates in 2003, I was humming Fire Bomber songs.

I still haven't seen Delta yet tbh beyond a few clips.

Rather than even MORE new Valkyrie designs, I'd rather see a migration fleet that chose upgraded variants of the VF-22 for special forces (VF-22T or maybe VF-22V or Kai)  with VF-19 GX and VF-19 SX as the mainstay fighter (use the shorter shoulders of the YF-19, wings of the F/S, etc but the FAST packs and  boosters of Isamu's from the Frontier movie and maybe something like the VF-27's big BGP-01β Beam Gun pod.  Put a bayonet on it, and they can use them like polearms maybe.  Standard Low viz paint schemes,.

Make the major enemy a mix of Marduk from Macross II with another Bodolza style fleet.  If they're a Protoculture variant, or perhaps even better Supervision Army they could be using the original SDF design as their gunships on the enemy side. This would require our protagonist fleet to have a standing Minmay Attack Jamming Birds unit (less... eccentric and undisciplined than Basara's Sound Force but engaging in "sing offs" while the UN Spacy fights more Fleets of the Strongest Women.  Of course, they'll throw a love triangle or two in there.

And lets Bandai reuse their current designs with slightly modified tooling. Perhaps a few new treats like a GBP on a VF-19.

  7. I'm hoping for VF-19S, D and P reissues myself.  Kicking myself for not getting the P, especially but would want a full Emerald Force (2 x D and 1 x S on display), too

I never got a Yamato/Arcadia SDF release since I've wanted a TV version and price usually scared me off...

  8. T-bar broke  on my Yamato YF-21 so will probably never transform it again from fighter.  Gamlin VF-22 seemed ok last time I transformed a couple years ago.

Liking the exrra tampo printing so probably getting this. Hope they'll do the Max VF-22.

  9. Finally got 10497. Great design and was a fun build with my son... tempted to get another to build a 924 or 918, though do wish there were printed bricks for them,  though... and enough for both smaller alt builds. Getting three seems a bit extravagant.  Would be nice if Lego would do an accessory pack for that.  Local Walmart had so many kinda hoping they'll blow them out.

  10. USAF never wanted a competition but was forced by Congress.  YF-22 was the safer & more conventional design.  YF-23 was a better plane but would have been even more expensive,  as well.  The "peace dividend" would have still kicked the can farther down the road multiplying the prices even higher.

  11. Best solution would be acrylic and 3d print some custom brackets and screw them to it.  Lots of us 3D printer guys are using Ikea Lacks as 3d print stations (buy 2 or 3 of them and print brackets to screw the legs of one onto the top of another one).

haha, I just wished how both companies release their toys unpainted or in kit form. Arcadia recently did it but that is for the armor parts for Zero

This.  I was only able to get one of the Yamato VF-1.  Wish Arcadia would release them again, so I can complete a flight section (4 valks) in Low Viz (Ideally, 1 x S, 1 x J and 2 x A.

  13. Fortunately I built high end last November.  9900k, z390 (Maximus Hero XI), 32GB RAM.  I got tired of waiting for Ampere so got a 2070 OC instead of the 3080 or maybe 3090, which I'm thinking maybe for this summer or winter, depending (everything running fine in DCS in VR, which is the most taxing game for me right now), so probably good.  If not this year, maybe next year will go to 64GB and a 3080 Ti or 4080 or whatever is out then.

  14. Calibre Wings VF-84 F-14A.

I do like the mold better than Hobbymaster (I have two of those), especially the open bleed air door ducts, metal touch for the cannon fairing, etc.   The Hobbymaster wings are smoother, though I do like the glove vanes on the Calibre as well as the swappable fully open TF-30 nozzles.

The biggest draw for me was the adjustable weapon configuration  on the wing glove pylons.  The extra weapons, as well (being able to put 4 x sidewinder, etc. Should include 6 Phoenix so probably wouldn't ever use those pylons otherwise, but only  has 4.

Unfortunately the wing glove pylons are a fiddly mess and the pegs that connect to the plane should be twice as deep. Then the uniformity issue where some pegs are thicker than others.  One of the Phoenix pylons always wants to fall off, too (should have designed these with a couple more pegs to fill the Sparrow fin holes), both two Phoenix and one of the Sidewinders came off of their pegs when I was trying to pull them back off.  Nothing a dot of glue won't fix but if the draw is different weapon configurations, this should be easier to do.

Also,, VF-84 was a TARPS squadron, so this one should have included a TARPS pod as well as 6 Phoenix (the "Doomsday Loadout"), 4 x Sidewinder, 4 x Sparrow.

I really want to get one of their F-14D or F-14B, but just missed the Tomcatters F-14D CAG plane.
