  1. Speaking from personal experience shopping with Mandarake:

    1) SAHRA pre-estimated shipping costs are slightly higher than other Mandarake outlets around nearby region, as they are averaged out on merchandise of the similar size/dimensions (Mandarake’s shipping boxes comes in a variety of fixed sizes).

    2) if you compare SAHRA’s shipping cost and another  within nearby region, say UTSUNOMIYA or COMPLEX, the latter would usually (from my experience) be cheaper than SAHRA’s pre-estimated shipping cost. This is particularly true when it comes to DHL options. However I am unsure whether the distance from SAHRA to Tokyo airport plays a part in the slight increase of cost.

    3) Mandarake’s DHL option is comparatively cheaper than other retailers, e.g., Ami-Ami, Jungle. However I can’t be sure whether this is consistent across all merchandises. (I’ve shipped a DX VF-1J via Mandarake and Ami Ami, and the DHL cost for Ami Ami proves higher

  2. Yup, usually it should be there unless it was purchased in-store before the you checked out online. Happened to me once. Best is to get a confirmation email on the item, which usually would come after the first email (acknowledging your order placed)

  3. The yammies were revolutionary for its time. Looking back, it still holds the test of time (in regard to the engineering and design). Bandai improved and made the engineering and design even better through the DX. If at all, my two cents says the DX modernized the engineering and design of the Valk, whilst paying homage to the Yammies.

Oh ok. Because I think the first time it came up on Mandarake, somebody here said it was 23K.

I think that one listed for 23k was opened (if my memory serves me right).

On a side note, I did manage to snag an extra Vf-1S from Mandarake at 25k Yen. (Grandchaos outlet). From my observations Grandchaos and Nagoya outlets seem to have the most placed on sale. That having said, most of them sold out before one could click on the “add to cart” button

that is why he said, use whatever works for you. That what works best for him. The extra dollar do counts towards something in the end (again depends on how many you purchase in a year).

Not disputing that, just saying that some may consider time and other factors when deciding a shipping method, to each his own. Not intending to stir any debate here.

I don’t ship as much yearly (again depends on the releases), but if you purchase frequently I guess the extra dollar would easily pile up.

If you want it fast and don’t care about price, use EMS or DHL. But to me, that is rookie:D

“Real” collectors know they spend the least possible on shipping no matter how long it takes because money saved goes towards more collection. But seriously, use whatever method works best for you. I’ve tried them all and I have great delivery people so it really doesn’t matter for me so I always go the cheapest route.

If you’re paying that much for a toy, I don’t think the extra dollar going into shipping would really make much of a difference.

What you’re paying for is the “time” for the toy to be delivered to you, and the ease of mind with tracking and insurance packaged under the shipping cost.

A misprinted tampo or a paint smudge is annoying to be sure, but it’s entirely different  than snapping joints or crumbling plastic.

the numbering was probably a mistake in a cad file or In programming the machines that do the paint, across the entire run, and someone probably looked at it and said, well, either we sell it or we redo the entire run and delay the release. That’s a business decision.

Everything is a “qc issue” these days it seems, the term gets thrown around a lot. IMO it really should be reserved for issues that affect the function of the figure - like crumbling plastic or snapping joints on Toynami figures, or the very widespread issue with the Arcadia SV-51 legs, or the snapping gerwalk support bar on the original DX YF-29 release.

paint smudges suck but they’re not going to make the figure fall apart.

@Kanzaki can you post a picture? Sometimes you can smooth out a smudge but it’s hard to tell from your description if any of the tricks I know might work.

I don’t have the valk with me right now, but it seems to be a little black smudge on the red color part of the chest plate.

  8. Hi guys, slightly off topic but I realize some small black paint smudge on pre-painted surface of my VF-1S. It’s not really noticeable if you look at it afar but me being picky over an expensive purchase was wondering whether there's any way to safely remove the small paint smudge without having to damage the bottom paint.

And no, this is not the “100” numbering issue I’m referring to here :p

Any tips would be great! Thanks in advance!

  9. Returning from the Customs and picked up my unit from HLJ after paying some import tax. Managed to bulldoze my order in on release date. Considered myself lucky.

Hope everyone's getting their shipment sent out soon!

I conceded defeat and order from NY at 27K Yen. Not a big fan of NY but alas still cheaper than 38k Yen asking price on Amazon JP.

Here’s to hoping NY doesn’t screw me over.

Just updating my recent PO with NY for the DX VF1S. So I pulled the trigger and PO’ed the VF-1S for 27K Yen on NY. It was shown on my Order History as “Payment Processing”. No confirmation email was sent.

The very next day I received an email from NY stating there was a payment failure, which is to my surprise because I’m using the same credit card for previous purchase on NY with no issue. I called my credit card centre and was made known that “the payment went through but was subsequently refunded by Vendor”.

So I got in touch with NY customer service and they responded half a day later stating “there was a payment failure and the money was refunded”. Now I’m no rocket scientist, but when you said “payment failure” and “refund”, it begs the question whether NY actually “received” the money but subsequently “refunded” due to gawd-knows-what-reason.

Knowing it was a lost cause to argue and so long my card wasn’t charged, I left the matter at it is. This morning I saw the VF-1S re-listed for 28K Yen. Yup, I leave the afterthoughts to you guys.

Anyhow, I’m not re-ordering the VF-1S with NY.

  11. Hey all, I'm looking for the following toys to complete my 1/48 Macross collection:

    1) Yamato 1/48 VF-1J Miria Jenius custom

    2) Yamato 1/48 GBP armor set

If you have a few and wish to extend a hand to fellow Macross fan (such as myself), or simply have leads on where to secure one at reasonable price, I'm definitely interested in working things out. I stay in Malaysia so we can work on the shipping cost as well.

    Thanks for the time guys!

  12. Hello all,

Just wanted to let everyone know that the new website is up and ready for business.  If there is something that is not on there that you wish to get, just e-mail me or drop me a PM and I will try my best to get it for you.

I am not adding any old items to this site.  But I do have access to a wide range of Japanese toys and models.

If you get some time check it out.  Also if you notice my signature, it says that I am leaving Japan.  Even though I am leaving Japan I still plan on being able to get items from Japan and this web-store will remain open.  Hopefully when I get to the states I plan on opening a sister store.  Wish me luck.

it's always good to have alternative source. All the best ;)
