Is that the HLJ replacement? ThreeZero needs to put metal in their joints, especially at these prices. This doesn't make me hopeful for my for repair.

Yes this is the second one that HLJ mailed me. Just not dealing with it anymore. Can't leave this much money tied up in a pos like this.

It will probably break in other places in a few months and I'll be fraked.

    Beyond angry.

  2. Welp. I'm done with threeZero now and forever.

The replacement that they sent me has a split in the left arm bicep and the socket popped out after rotating it twice.

This is pretty much scam level of bad. I've never been this pissed off at a toy company. DO NOT BUY THREEZERO. They are scam artists. It's cheap, poorly designed crap that has a nice paint job.

Send it back and get refunds now before it crumbles on your desk.

ThreeZero says they will reimburse me for shipping so that's cool! I'll save the celebration for when my toy is back.

I got the shoulder piece replacement a few days ago.  I can't say I'm impressed with them taking 4 weeks to ship a tiny part, but oh well. At least I'll have it as a backup and they sent it.
My replacement from HLJ with the whole new toy is almost here. HLJ also paid for return (Already reimbursed me) and outgoing shipping. All total they are taking a pretty big hit just from shipping on 3zero's bad QA.

  4. I told HLJ I was shipping it back for a replacement. They said they had none in stock... so I sent them a link to their page showing they had some in stock. haha.

They said it was for another location and they would reserve one for me.

Anyway, it's packed up and ready to go back. Hope the new one isn't loosey goosey.

  5. He still hasn't shipped the return. If I don't have it by monday I should get my money back.

Hmm...I've dealing with this guy too. I always packed my item very well. And he claimed it got damaged. Well I got the item back and he got his refund.

Thought it's interesting there's another case of "shipping damage" related to him.

Really? Was it damaged? What was the condition of the return? Did he return it complete?

He finally shipped it today. after 15 days of having it and never proving damage.
I would highly suggest that everybody block this seller/bidder unless you want your item, time, and money tied up for weeks and potentially damaged by him.

  6. I decided to ship it back for a replacement to HLJ. The 3Zero support process is a joke.

    Dear Customer:

Please kindly note that we need to apply for the replacement from our maintenance team and it will take few weeks , we will inform you the tracking number once available.

It takes a few weeks for them to get the part? and a few weeks to ship it? I can have a new one and mail the old one back to HLJ by then.  Hell I remember when the 3rd party voltron had some joint problems, they mailed me replacement parts in the same week.

If that one is broke I'll consider just ending it and sending it back for a refund.

  8. Ill check it out.  I have to wait 4 weeks for the replacement. Still waiting on HLJ to respond haha.

    HLJ got back to me:

We're sorry to see that the item has a problem; unfortunately, it is not possible for us to provide replacement parts for these items.

You are welcome to return the figure to us, complete in its packaging with all its parts, for a replacement figure that would be shipped free of charge; we would also reimburse you for shipping the defective item back to us.

If you didn't want a replacement item, you could ship the defective item back for a full refund--the cost of the item, the cost of shipping it from us to you, and your cost to return it to us.

Or, if you'd rather keep the item, we could give you a refund of 10% of the item's price, which would be 4,980 yen, as store credit which would be automatically applied to your next payable transaction.

Please let us know which you would prefer; if you want to return the item for replacement, we will send instructions for an authorized return at that time.

Thank you for shopping with HobbyLink Japan!

    Best Regards,

Trying to decide if I should do a return and hope I win the lottery and get one that isn't broken, or work with the replacement.
or just go full refund and not bother with threezero again haha.

Great review Jenius. I do agree that since it is mostly a display piece that I probably won't fiddle with that often it's the best version out there. It clearly looks the best. That doesn't mean I don't want a whole working toy that isn't broken though haha.

Also, my problem with the DMZ toys are the hands. They are some of the worst hands on a toy I've ever had. I like that smaller scale but.. Yeah.

Be careful with HLJ's return policy, you have 10 days to pack it up and get it out or they'll tell you to go fish. You might be better off since you've already reached out to them but they're strict on that generally. I don't think the'll wait for you to get a replacement part and then attempt surgery and then send it back to them.

Well I got it saturday, put the request in on sunday and got an email about an obon holiday until the 17th.

  10. I messaged them too. I got an email that they are on holiday. I'm going to try to do the repair and if i damage it or it doesn't work I'll ask for HLJ to replace/refund depending on how I feel.

Going to insist either company pays return shipping though. i shouldn't pay extra for their mistakes.

  11. Hey guys. Just wanted to give you a heads up and talk about partial refund fishers. They basically lie about damage or condition to try to guilt or fool you into giving a partial refund, or they switch parts and resend something that isn't complete.

I sold a valk to OHENRYTOYS on ebay.

I shipped the valk last week. It was firmly wrapped in bubble wrapped and stuffed with paper. I've mailed similar items for years, and recently in the last few weeks and had zero issues. But this guy basically says it was damaged in shipping And that pilot was broken and that's it. To me it would take an incredible amount of focused force to damage a pilot as they are so small. I've never seen it in years of collecting valks.

Anyway, I said sure, send some pictures and I can give you a partial refund. He agreed, and we even agreed on an amount.

3 days later he comes back at me saying he spoke to his friends, and since he didn't think he could resell it later - he wanted 50% back.

At this point my red flags beepers is going off and I said, I can't do that. Just return it. He also mentioned something about his father having cancer. Which is another red flag. In my experience, people who bring up family issues in these situations are just looking for sympathy and trying to muddle the issue. Why would he even bring that up?

Also, he still hasn't sent any pictures to prove that there was damage. He keeps making excuses that he doesn't have a smart phone? (really) and that taking them and uploading them to his computer would be a big hassle. Sorry, but I find it hard to believe that this guy is a macross fan and doesn't have a smart phone.

I checked out his account and he resells a lot of Macross toys which was another huge red flag.

So I'm like whatever. I'm done dealing with this guy because he's coming off as sketch. I'm calling his bluff to prove there was damage and he can't. My worry is that he might damage it himself, or not return the pilot (Swap it for another valk) and send me a defective item just to save face, Making it harder for me to sell.

I went ahead and approved the refund and I'm waiting on him to ship, as the money is on hold until then. I haven't heard from him since I initiated the return process either.

My guess is he tried to scam half off to resell it, or just get a big discount. I also do not think he will return it and I'll get my money back on the 21st when case expires. We shall see.
but keep an eye out and always insure your items.

maybe I'm weird but I don't see the problem. It looks like any easy 10 minute fix and they're sending you all the parts and instructions you need to do it.

If it's easy or not isn't the point. My toy isn't really new anymore, it's used and repaired. Would you pay full price for a new toy if you knew you had to repair it?
At that price point there should be zero QA issues. It's not like 3Zero/A is a newb company or has no experience with this kind of stuff.

I have some experience fixing up things, but what if you have none? You could wreck the thing and then have to pay to mail it back, which makes your cost even higher in the end. I am glad their customer service is being helpful, but if they did it right the first time they wouldn't need to be. But everybody is different I guess.

  13. I asked if it could be repaired and the rep said that they would send one that isn't broken instead. But I haven't taken it apart to look at it yet. Maybe it didn't occur to them to fix it that way.. but I assume this was a flaw they knew of since they responded so quickly.

  14.

My honeymoon with this guy was cut very, very short. The loose arm issue got much worse. It won't even hold a pose. If you hold it out it flops right back to the ground.

I emailed customer support at 3zero, and they sent me a diagram to fix it.. so obviously it's a known issue, or enough people are reporting it for them to make a document to mail to people. I guess their QA is crap after all.

It is pretty disappointed for a 500+ dollar toy that is frakking huge and not easy to mail back to japan to have issues out of the gate.

    AMJcIGF.jpg

Their solution is to mail me a new arm with a tight ball joint, and then have me preform surgery to fix it. I asked many questions to clarify and I have to pull the arm out, pull the arm cover off with pliers (ouch) clean the old glue, then reglue the cover with the new ball joint inside. They said the old ball joint is just faulty and it can't be fixed.

One, I'm not comfortable ripping the arm cover off and potentially damaging the paint, and two I'm not even sure what glue would work best. They said any super glue would be fine.

I told them I wasn't happy and I would want a new one that isn't "operated on".  They said they would ship a new one if the replacement arm doesn't work.

Based off all this I doubt if I will ever buy another 3zero product again. How hard is it to a ball-joint to a high standard?? It is one of the simplest mechanisms in toys? Again, based off the size and price of these guys, if they can't nail it in the first go it's just not worth the risk.

  15. Retail. Wasn't comfortable giving 500 for the weathering six months out. Which turned into 8 months? I've never had a 3zero before too. Kind of wished I had, but I go back and forth on if I'd want the weathering over the original as it's more iconic.  The weathering looks beautiful as a weathered custom piece, but it doesn't quite look like the hero mecha either.. so Idk. Tough call at that price point.

I will say the QA is pretty top notch other than my right shoulder is a little loose compared to the left. Hands are super tight. Gun has a nice flip insert to go into the hand that you use a small included tool to pop out. Knees and waist are super right.

I had a little bandai stand and threw the ammo boxes up there for Chirico to chill on. Get the most bang out of my display.

HLJ did a great job packing it too. Box inside a bubblestuffed box.

I really hope they continue the line.

I just picked up mine from a local hobby shop recently, and took it out for a spin.

It is in my humble opinion the best 1/12 Scopedog toy ever made.. possibly the best Scopedog ever, but I don't have the other toy lines to compare it with.

I usually detest the very lousy articulation 3A and ThreeZero figures have, but given the design of the Scopedog, I gotta say this blew me away. I could actually have him hold the rifle with BOTH hands (albeit via the foldable handle bar). The joints are nicely ratcheted and tight as with all threezero toys, and his fingers are all individually articulated and pretty tight, keeping a firm grip on the machine gun (which by the way, comes with an actual adjustable fabric rifle sling!).

I hope to have a little more play time with him to see if I can get him to squat down in dog mode or whatever it's called (I'm not the most avid fan, but I love the design and the lore enough)

Wonder if the Yamato parts can fit onto this big boy... at least the weapons expansion pack I got will fit nicely for sure.

Hey that's great to hear. I've very stoked to get mine. From the videos I saw the jointing system seemed pretty modern. I have no experience with 3A/zero so I'm hoping for the best.

I originally thought it was the same sculpt and maybe they bought it from Yamato but if you look closely you can tell it's at least a redesign. Their are lots of changes in diemensions like the shoulders being larger and the calf being smaller ect.

Looks like the yamato figures will fit fore sure. and I would imagine the guns would too, though they wouldn't be painted to the same standard.
