  1. I've followed the thread pretty closely since its inception, and the only advice I could recall was to ensure that all three connection points were locked into place. Unfortunately, that's exactly what's giving me trouble.

As I said, on the left side everything lines up perfectly with no problem and the booster snaps in easily, but on the right side it just seems like nothing matches up. I dunno, guess things just aren't clicking for me. :)

Hehehe tell me about it, it took me almost half an hour of slowly moving the wing slowly until it fits before that either the booster won't lock or thrown across the room.

Keep trying to move the angle of the wing, I'm pretty sure you'll figure it out like I did.

  2. "Yamota" sounds like some knock-off brand.

Still, I'd rather have an old V1 Yamato than anything from Toynami.

Like others have said, you definitely want the newer V2 Yamato toys, but it's not going to be cheap getting them.

Hm "Yamota", I suddenly picture a world of macross toys filled with bootleged toys made by "yamota" and cost one-third to one-fourth of arcadia or even bandai offerings. But I'm not so sure if it's a world I wanted, though.

(Though this is an unlikely scenario, I've seen bootlegged bandai kits that is at least on par with the bandai ones, so who knows what the future holds for macross collecting)

  3. recently there are lot of vf171 CF in HK stores, some off them offer open to check. If I checked there is no problem on the NUNS triangle, does it means there is no QC issue and I can grab with peace of mind? thanks.

I had an extra cf MIB that looked just fine, then guess what? The moment I tried to transform it, it literally crumbled in my hands.

So you can't be too sure about the CF.To buy it means accepting the fact that it will self-destruct or be prepared to buy replacement parts on shapeways (you should vector the price in buying the unit, to see if the discount offset the price of replacement parts)

  4. Put the boosters onto my VF-19 for the first time today (I've been keeping it in gerwalk/battroid, and I'm not a fan of having the boosters on in those modes), and like pretty much everyone else the right side booster won't fully attach securely. I know there's three connection points for the boosters; two on the wing root and one on the innermost hardpoint. The right side booster attaches to the hardpoint connection just fine, and while I can get the booster to grip the wing root connection points, they won't stay connected there and immediately pop off those points. It's so odd because the left booster attaches so easily.

For people who were able to successfully get the right booster fully attached, what was your trick?

I was, however, happy to find that the booster stays on surprisingly well with just the hardpoint connection so it's not that big a deal, it'd just be nice to have it attached properly.

I'm pretty sure this has been covered in this thread before, try to look at previous posts.

But in essence attaching the booster is about aligning the wing and the fuselage.

That's why I did, once I discover the right angle, I have no problem attaching the booster.

    Hope that helps.

  5. I think that is the best part of the charm of a SV-51 is its Russian design influence! I absolutely love the Russian figthers, the SU-27, 30 etc in particular and the 51 has strong resemblance to it even down to the design of the landing gear! Which I think is the best looking and far most realistic of all the Valkyries landing gear

Couldn't agree more with you, the small mud deflector in the front landing gear reflects its lineage to contemporary russian design, not to mention the boosters that strongly resemble older generation russian anti-ship missiles. My only gripe is probably the small wing area, but then again since it was design to be folded and launched from a submarine it makes sense a a space saving feature.

Nonetheles the sv-51 is indeed sexy.

  6. Rise, zombie thread!

I thought it would be nice to link to some additional fixes directly, in support of an all-in-one reference. Feel free to add any links that I missed.

    Arcadia YF-19

    Bandai VF-171

    Bandai VF-25 Renewal

    Yamato VF-1*

    Yamato VF-0*

    Edit: layout

Hey thanks for bringing these up, you've save me some time. Now I'm going to go back fixing my v2 vf-1a hikaru with super parts

  7. Here's an idea to make the toys more affordable: have a simpler toy that is not so detailed. In addition, sell upgrade kits to add on or swap in the detailed parts.

I'm just thinking Arcadia is burrowing itself deeper and deeper into a niche. They might not recover from a single failed product.

Here's an idea to make the toys more affordable: have a simpler toy that is not so detailed. In addition, sell upgrade kits to add on or swap in the detailed parts.

That may be one the solution for arcadia. I wonder if they would be able to sell the yf-19 cheaper if they had sold they super parts and all those extra missiles separately like bandai's usual practice. I believe that the lower price and the apparent dislike of some fans toward the (non-canon) missiles would have helped the sales.

But then again with such a horrendous production failures, finding access to a better manufacturing company should be a high priority.

Personally I hope that Arcadia stays in bussiness as a competition to bandai, because any competition no matter how small will be better that none. Take for example what sentinel did to the super robot line against bandai's well established SOC line. When another company create a different rendition of a model with similar or even superior quality, surely it would whip the competition into action through better quality products or lower prices.

Either way, we as buyer will reap the benefit.

  8. Don't the 0B and 0C belong to Hasegawa?

Would somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I distinctly remember reading somewhere in mwf that big west supposively approved license not only by series but also by scale, that is the reason why bandai was able to produce the early hi-metal vf-1 whilst yamato was producing the 1/60 scale toys. Therefore it is safe to assume that having hasegawa in the 1/72 scale license for 0D and 0C won't really affect arcadia 1/60 macross zero toys license (including 0D and 0C)

  9. I'm not really sure what the point of the 30 is other than as a missile boat. The 29 seems like the better fighter all around.

Amongst other things, it has more guns, still has plenty of internal missiles. It's biggest advantage is it has two extra engines to provide more thrust, excess power for SWAG and PPB in fighter mode, and can pivot to direct thrust.

Well I agree that the 29 is a better all round performer (good looking to) but the cost and complexity added with ozma' statement in the series that implies the lack of training (hence skills) of nuns pilot will make it prohibitive as a CF. I think vf-25 will be in widespread in widespread nuns fleet use (imagine messiah in nightmare blue) with 29 as spec force fighter like the hamaval.
  10. after what wmkjr did with the VF-0D and VF-0A in the 0A/0S thread...my bet would be on the VF-0B/C!!!although i wont bet big ^_^

I second that, creating a VF-0B would probably entail grafting the 0d fuselage with 0a/s wings, stabilizer etc and re-coloring so it'a no brainer for arcadia. But then again they might just abandon the franchise and stick to their figure making with their current situation.

  11. hehe... its an optical illusion ;)

I think you'll be quite happy with the VF-27β, I am pleased with it, and best part is now Brera is no longer alone in the display he now has a wingwoman or wingman. :D

    @Derex3592 is this ok?

Great shot Saburo I just love the Antares squadron boss with his henchman or woman.

  12. No one, including Mr. K, is even touching the licensing topic/cost.....for all we know Bandai may have already executed Order 66 and pretty much grabbed all the Macross licenses that matter....except for the Macross Zero license, from which a sustainable toy line you cannot expect to survive long with.......... ;)

I agree with you, I think it's only a matter of time before arcadia's license for the 1/60 macross toys will expire, when that comes will they be able to pay the license fee or will bandai will step up their game and outbid arcadia.

But if somehow arcadia managed to extend the license, I'm sure that bandai milk try to milk delta dry and probably try a few loopholes by including other period's valk in the new series just like they did with vf-19 advance

  13. You have to complete Emerald Force for sure! And the 19P is a must have! Definitely my fav of the bunch! Just look how sexy it is! :D

Arrrgh that visor + the pauldron, I'm starting to regret missing it in the past.

Well what's done is done time to start saving. Hope it will still be available at a reasonable price.

  14. Even for a used item 13k yen is a cracking price for an Alto 29! From what I can gather in the listing its pretty much a clean example aside some box damage in the description. Ultimately you just will never know how much it was handled by its previous owner until you get your hands on it and see how floppy it is or if there are any paint chips but that can be mostly corrected easy enough.

I paid over 30k yen for my Alto 29 which was in unopened unused condition and it still wasn't the tightest of examples so if this came along before I got mine then I would have definitely jumped on it! And that's saying a lot too cos usually im pretty fussy when it comes to my Valkyrie's!

And you won't find one anywhere as cheap on either Mandarake or Jungle!

    Bottom line.. I approve!

Thanks for the insight brother spanner76, you will really make me sleep better at night, knowing that I've probably struck a good deal in buying this

  15. Favorite valk, I gotta go with VF-1S Strike

There is no shame for being old school, cause I am too!!

VF-1 all the way but specifically VF-1J of the Max and Millia fame. sheer terror for the enemy just by looking at those blue and red VFs
