Well, it's been over a week since e-mailing Toynami, and to my surprise - no response! So - I'm still looking
-
It's actually pretty cheesy if you haven't seen it in person. But, for the mid-80s, when I was about 12, it was great imagination fodder.
-
Believe it or not - anime wasn't/isn't all that popular in Vermont.... Although if Hikaru was milking a Holstein that produced moonshine, there probably would have been an action figure in every General Store. Needless to say - we had what Kay-Bee toys carried, and not much else. So, my first item was the Revell "Orbot". I think my first toy was the cheesy Matchbox Skull-1 that held the 3 3/4" figure and didn't transform, although I don't feel like digging for it. My first "Macross" was the playset.

hey guys, I'm not that savvy on what are the good models, but I'm looking to buy a V-f 1 Valkyrie (Toy, not gunpla or plastic model) that when you transform it, you don't have to snap his legs and reattach to the cabin, if you are selling one at a good price please let me know, thanks
Your post is probably going to be moved over to the "wanted" section. The removeable legs were on the old 1/60 Yamato VFs, and the old BanDai/Revell model kits. But if you're looking for a true toy at a fair price, with the hinged non-removeable legs, you'll probably want to go for a BanDai reissue VF. If you want something that is more aesthetically pleasing, but can't be handled quite as roughly as the BanDai, look for a 1/48 Yamato or the new (version 2) 1/60 Yamato VF. You're probably going to pay a little more for the yammies, and some of the early 1/60 version 2 have some QC issues with the arms cracking. There's also the Toynami Robotech Masterpiece, which is similar to the old BanDai toy, but they are fetching a premium now as they are becoming sparse.
Evilbay usually has quite a bit if some of the guys here can't hook you up.
Good Luck!!

I think it's just labled wrong. I don't think they changed any of the mecha names in robotech but I could be wrong.
I thought they changed all the names (to lazy to go look them up...)
Macross / Robotech
Tomahawk = Excalibur
Defender = Radar X
Spartan = Gladiator
Phalanx = Spartan

Any color will do!!! There's more than 1 shade of red on it anyway. Maybe some type of Mars camo scheme Toynami came up with.

I just checked ebay and nothing too promising. The head I have is white so it would not match your light gray body and like I said, it is a knock off so it is really cheap plastic with less detail than the original. If you want it let me know. I wonder if a 1/48 head would fit on the 1/55. There are recasts and extras of those sometimes available up here. Also there is an auction for a MIB one on ebay auction number 220460353639 though it looks like it may go up a bit by auction end.
Thanks Miriya. We'll keep trolling around Ebay for a "donor". We have one of those cheaper knockoffs here- with the 1S head. Maybe we'll give Hikaru a promotion until we run across the right one.
-
Someone should have some recast heads somewhere or you could try to find a junker jetfire on ebay or junker for parts valk on ebay or here maybe. If you cant find one through those methods I have a really crappy knock off 1/55 head that pretty much sucks but for your sake I would rather you find a better one. If not send me a PM. Who sold you a valk with no head? That is tricky.
I can't remember who it was (maybe I buy too much stuff here ) I've cleaned out my inbox beyond this April....

So,
I bought my son a Hiki VF-1J Chunky from here last November or so, and gave it to my son for Christmas. He cherished the toy so much he kept it in the box on a bookcase in his room. One of his prize posessions (brings a tear to my eye...). Anyway, today, he finally took it out of the box, and he wanted it in battroid mode. But, during the transformation process - discovered that not only do we not have the heat shield - but his head is missing entirely!!! If anyone has a head and/or heatshield they could spare, we would really appreciate it.
-
I just picked up a Rook Alpha from one of the guys here, and she needs the hinged door that sits just behind the fuselage. If you've got one to spare - perhaps from an Alpha that took a catastrophic nose dive off your display shelf, or your kids tried to transform it, or you had one that is reeking of Toynami quality goodness - and something more critical snapped off because you weren't looking at it just right - I'm in need of a donor!
Thanks!
-
I believe the Revell version only came out with the two bays.

Thanks for that. I guess it is pretty rare right now. Were the resin kits made by MW members? Those would be rather expensive too though I could imagine.
They were expensive (1/72), but definitely a lot of bang for youre buck. I think I paid either $325 or $375 for it. Thus I haven't worked up the nerve to touch it yet. Adjusted to the cost of resin now, I would guess somewhere mid-$400 shipped in the US.
The 1/144 for under $200 is probably not bad given supply/demand
-
Given the lack of recent re-releases, you're probably stuck scouring Ebay. The 1/200 are problably the most common, relatively speaking, but still going to cost $50-$100. There is also the 1/160, but that'll run you closer to $150 - 200 I'll bet. There have been some resin kits in 1/100 and 1/72, but those are few and far between.

If you're serious about this, then I can outbid Toywave and give you a case of VT-01s for 145 USD each with one extra MISB CMS's corp Lyn Minmei figure thrown in for free with each Valkyrie. (the DYRL pose one that is really good under the Good Kool figure line)
Shipping by EMS will probably come to somewhere around 70 USD for a case of four.
Shipping for SIX will come cheaper - at only 80 USD.
That comes out at 17,50 USD shipping for each VT-01 as a case of four or 13,33 USD for an order of six of them.
No money down.
And the MISB Lin Minmei is free - one free for each VT-01.
So if you buy a case of 4 VT-01s - you get 4 Minmeis. If you buy 6, you get 6 Minmeis.
However - I cannot guarantee them as quickly as Bigkid. From what I gather, the VT-01 is out in late July and I will be offering it in August.
So it's up to you.
Pete
I've got a thread going with Pete's deal, but I'm east coast, whereas GHQ and BigKid are west coast, along with most of the rest of the Macross community..... Anyway, I'm trying to get us to take advantage of the 6 piece price, and have some commits already.
I worked with Pete to bring in the VF-1D for a group buy, and not only is his communication excellent, but his service is 100% professional to boot.
So far that group buy is going well, with some standup guys joining in, so I'm going to go through with it again. I don't make any money off the deal, just save a little by not paying for domestic shipping.
Any east coasters interested can check it out here: VT-1 East coast

I just took it up the seat by Ebay seller bboykorea382! I paid this jerkweed for for 5 models, 3 Yamato VFs, and the BanDai VF-25S &F. I paid extra for shipping in a box. I only got the 3 yammie kits, wrapped in paper, and crushed to about half their normal height! I hope when their "satellite" rocket is launched, and we shoot it's ass out of the sky, that it lands in his lap.
-
Okay - PM'd you. Let's get this ball rolling !
-
With all these V2 1/60 Yammies coming out, and the BanDai Mac-F stuff, even the Toynami Betas & Cyclones, I thought for sure there'd be some group buying going on. Thinking back to when Godzilla's contact hooked us up during the 1/48 blitz a couple years back... and there were some good discounts through Toy-wave, Kevin@Valk Exchange and several others that I'm probably forgetting, based on us getting together enough as a group. Are there any group deals to be had in the MW community on the new releases? Maybe I'm just not digging enough in the forums
-
Just a note - I got his e-mail, but in my spam folder. I had almost deleted it. Those who haven't heard anything might want to check there, or perhaps your spam filter may have bounced it.

Or, all of the model kits, including resins, that probably adds up to another $5K.
I guess now I see why I'm still drving to work in a rusty 1987 Civic!
In all seriousness, I'm thinking I should probably add them to the home insurance policy as a rider. Anyone else done this? Godzilla or one of the other hardcore collectors?

All set! What would we do without these boards???
I posted a little too soon. I have one canopy from a member here, but am still looking for a heat shield, or a second canopy for my other valk.

I picked up a couple of beat up yammie 1/60 VF-1A's that I'm looking to make into cusotms, but they are missing the canopies and heat shields. If anyone has recasts of them, that'll work, or if your 1/60 has suffered battle damage beyond repair but the canopy or heat shield is still intact, let me know.
Thanks!

Okay I found the storage bin with 'em, and a few others from the line. The rest of the destroids are in another one somewhere, but still, it was a nice trip down memory lane. I definitely need to take the dust cloth to the 1S toys though!
