  1. Did everyone get their MB Blue Frame? I ended up picking up again from friggin GundamPlanet and got charged through the nose....just like Exia re-release. What I heard is that bandai is not releasing a whole heck of lot to stateside vendors for MB these days, keeping the love in-country. At least there was some available and it was not the debacle like the Destiny WoL bundle. MB releases I feel are far worse than nabbing valk DX's lately....ugh!

Even better! Toy budget might be saved. lol

But (1) I never really paid that much attention since I've always been lucky to get orders at HLJ, Hobby Search, etc., however (2) when I have paid attention the release dates have been kind of sporadic - meaning I couldn't catch a patter or rhyme/reason to when US stores got stock so I appreciate all of the insight.

    Thanks again,

    -b.

Yep, it is about a month behind. My Exia preorder at GP will arrive sometime in September, and Blue Frame will be January, behind the December Japan release.

  2. Ok a couple weeks back I received the MAMOUTH L.E.D. Mirage V3 Napalm IMS kit. Man this thing is a beast. I am currently painting another Sinanju for myself right now, so after that will need to wait and see if I want to tackle this massive thing. I do have a question if anyone knows...I read on one of the forums regarding the ability to polish up the translucent outer armor of so it has more transparency, similar to the reason kits. Not sure if that is fact or fiction, but curious if anyone around has heard of this being possible. There is not a whole lot of painted builds to view (searchable from English sites that is).

  3. Though watching the show, the design kind of grew with me and it has a nice Head unit compared to 31F

Yeah I feel the same about this one...initially not very excited about the colorway of the VF-31J, but over the course of the series I began to appreciate its uniqueness compared to its predecessors.

What I really want to see is some additional kitting out of the VF-31 from the series. The supers were underwhelming, but reserving judgment until Bandai eventually releases them. Would love to see something of the armored variety out of Delta, so hoping that we get something from the series to whet the appetite for a DX release.

  4. HLJ cancellation blues!!! (Pun intended b/c Hayate didn't make it or the Blue Frame - I know not funny). Feel somewhat bad that HLJ is getting the greatest backlash, but it is their fault for causing the false hope to begin with, so understandable.

HLJ really needs to get their online ordering dialed in. I mean it's 2016 and that site is still operating like it did back in 56k days. No to lottery, but beef up their throughput over there b/c their hampster died trying to keep that wheel moving. Still shocked at the lack of inventory at other sites in general too on both releases.

Do folks suddenly want Hayate's VF-31J more now b/c the release was such a debacle (aka FOMO), or are you seeing through the general hype of a new valk and waiting for the VF-31F (or insert fave Delta valk here)? I am trying to tell my brain it's the latter rather than the former right now...

  5. I will definitely paint the Vatshu, but the kit is not near the top of my stash atm. Part fit is quite good, but not on Bandai's shake-n-bake level. You will have to clean a lot of molding seams and pouring gates on the parts if you want the polished look of a Mortar Headd.

    13585666323_9fe5cdd651_z.jpg

Since the Vatshu was one of the earlier releases, Volks might have improved the quality in the meantime.

Tell me about it: the stash. Ugh. I am right now in that mode where I literally want to do like 5 kits at once, which in essence means you're sitting around thinking about modeling and not doing much. MG Sinanju is what I have going right now.

The bang has some of those issues also, but I do hear that they improved greatly on the releases starting from the led mirage inferno napalm. The small scale kits look great as well and I think it was pointed out earlier on this thread that the small vatshu kit has an improved look and their votoms plastic kits all look great.

The terror mirage will probably be my next fss kit, although I am very curious about the 1/144 kits but haven't heard from any owners or seen a review.

That's the thing I find frustrating about the FSS kits, the lack of sweet completed builds to give you an idea of the details, or inspiration on the paint scheme, etc. I would take it there is probably plenty of nice builds and thorough review on .jp sites, but pretty sparse on English sites. When I get going on the LED I will be posting the crap out of it. Though I think maybe it might be worth snagging one of the 1/144 IMS' and take a peek at what they're all about.

  6. Yep the lack of tampo has been the hallmark of Arcadia, and I guess you're right I could take the ol' AB if I felt it needed the spruce up. I actually think the blue is pretty decent as it is on this one. The other armor bits (the greys and dark greys/gunmetal-ish areas) though, I kinda want them a bit darker. Maybe my memory isn't as good on what the scheme looked like during the anime.

  7. I have the 1/100 IMS Vatshu, and while the tooling wasn't 100% at the time (some flash and quite large pouring channels at delicate edges), the sculpt is excellent.

    13585621295_6a7690b798_z.jpg

Good to know on some of what to expect on the LED. Os that your current progress on your Vatshu? How is the alignment as well as the amount of gluing to expect? Also planning on painting it or straight build?

They've really come a long way with the plastic FSS kits, to the point that I consider the plastic versions to be superior in many respects compared to their resin counterparts. The fact that a lot of the Vatshu's armor plates are separate adds an element of detail and realism that the molded-all-in-1-piece resin parts just couldn't convey.

I agree completely. The level of detail is quite nice on these kits. I wish there was a bit more articulation though, kind of bringing a bit of gunpla into FSS.

  8. I have started working on the frame for the bang and love the detail. When I was at the anime expo they had the whole line at the volks booth built on display, the even had the two 1/144 scale kits and even those look fantastic.

Nice. I recently sent over an email to Volks asking on when the release of the IMS 1/100 K.O.G. would arrive, received the expected reply: "no release date...check our FB page for the announcement." Considering that the lead up time for the LED Mirage V3 was significant, I wonder if, based on what they have learned, if the K.O.G. Is nearing completion now, or maybe another year away..,.hmm. Do have say the molds, the details, are quite nice, especially the inner frame - WOW!
  9. Started on HS, got greedy loading Blue Frame in with Hayate, got cart jacked on both - SOB!!

Jumped into the crap show that is HLJ, just gave up on trying to get Hayate (which is good b/c ummmm don't care too much about it, so yay for saving money??). Battled through the trash heap that is HLJ's server and snagged the friggin Blue Frame after 45 minutes of dog dicking around on refreshing the payment screen. HLJ needs to buy an ADC or get on the cloud with AWS or something.

Also I feel that HS had like zero inventory last night - WTF! Like they were shorted on the allotment? Normally that is an easy, smooth as hell process. Was anyone able to go through HS last night and secure their orders? They were literally sold out in a minute and a half.

Also while waiting for 45 minutes, the random "1 left" was spotted on CDJ for Hayate and Blue Frame multiple times, both got cart jacked form me. Bandai should never do the dual DX/MB preorder date again. That was a madhouse.

  10. Watching that Bandai video showing off some key features

    EDIT:

WTF, why is Hobby search about $25USD cheaper than AmiAmi?

    Hobby Search = 17000 yen

    AmiAmi = 19400 yen

...because AmiAmi just gouges, they're always high. HS is awesome.

  11. Just trying to bring this thing back to see if others have completed/bought or were interested in the 1/100 Volks IMS line for FSS. I just finally picked up the massive L.E.D. Mirage V3 Napalm MH. Looking forward to tackling this thing. The sad thing is, outside of Japan there is like no interest in this series or the outstanding mecha designs. I have always admired them, but was not about to drop the serious dough on the resin kits. Wish there were a few build WIPs out there on this kit. Did notice that IM eventually will be getting a K.O.G., which is great news as well, though I have not heard anything resembling a release date of the kit.

Also wondering, now that the manga actually has resumed if there is some active fan translations out there.

  12. BANDAI 2016年12月發售: METAL BUILD 1/100 Series Gundam Astray Blue Frame (Full Weapon裝備) 23,000Yen

    From tag hobby

    http://www.taghobby.com/1-0/1-1/不斷更新-figure王-222號-內容-bandai-玩具消息/

I'll take another MB any day, but we all knew this one was coming. I am hoping with the Astray series sort of taken care of Bandai will begin adding some newer designs to the MB lineup. Will be picking this up just the same though...

  13. Ok, so I've finally received my 2 MB SF WOL Option sets, the shipping box was huge (19 x 17 x 16 inches). :o

It's just like all the photos you have already seen here and elsewhere. But what's extra this time is 8 corner spacers inside the Tamashii WE box.

    attachicon.gifIMG_0824.JPG

They really want that Display cover Sleeve to be in excellent condition.

The space holder White Box is just a empty white box.

Yep, my order came in as well...actually it was a box full of WoL because it also contained the p-bandai WoL for my MG V2 ver.ka....really surprised how huge the MB Strike Freedom WoL is...its huge. I guess give them credit for keeping the box in good shape??? I guess I'd rather it be in good condition than all smashed/bent cornered up.

  14. I really quite like the subtle extra colours that are coming with the VF-31.

Rather than holding to the previous colour formula of primary colour and black and/or white, the blue/red/white, maroon/black/white, grey/black/white, blue/grey/red/white is quite striking.

In comparison, Delta 03 looks quite bland.

I'll have to get myself a Delta 01 when it comes out.

I don't know...other than Messer's scheme the others aren't really doing it for me. There's other ways at adding color and staying true to the root scheme. Kind of like Isamu's YF-19, tan with the nod to Hikaru's crimson red with black stripes, or Ozma's low viz colored VF-25. I will say that Hayate's and Arad's schemes are growing on me, and will more than likely buy them anyways as a necessity for continuing this wallet bleed of a hobby.

  15. I am going to begin cranking out the Hasegawa here first, and see if I have the spirit to tackle the Club-M. I finally got the option set and photo etch set, so it's all here. The thing of it is I have a huge Gundam backlog right not as well, and was planning to tackle the PG 00 or the PG red frame next. Still deciding which ones to work on first. If I do the 00 that will be at a six month project, so taking on the VF-1 Strike should be about half that, so thinking that might be what I do.

  16. Loving the color on this one.

    VF-31superJoint_zpsaj8orr2j.jpg

I definitely like the S with the supers on it better than it in the nude. Pretty much sells that thing for me. Hoping that there are other packs that fit in for the ordinance pod that make the valks look less like flying boom boxes.

  17. Tough to choose on all the VF-31 colorways, but will pick up an F and J for sure...I don't like the color scheme of the S, as it reminds me of the putrid Seattle Sonics uniforms from the mid-90s. Though, I strangely still want one b/c of the head shape. After getting ran through ringer on the Frontier valks, I found myself selling off all of them save for an Alto and Ozma. I say that I won't buy all of them, and I am going to really try not to, but I am sure I am speaking to most that we all know how that story goes...

The inevitable option part, dress up game is what gets me every time!

Best part about Delta is...they got valks for days in this show.

  18. You're getting upset over nothing. There's no official announcement this is a bundle and we've never seen anything that would be $450+ before, it's highly unlikely they would start now.

Agreed. Not upset, but would be IF IT'S A BUNDLE ONLY is what I said..The point is I have no regrets dropping $450 on a bundled set, but not $750+ for a bundle and a single valk (even though I like the 0S that Arcadia put out). The issue is they're selling 0S now, and you don't know what they will do. It is a conundrum...Sort of like what they're doing on VF-1's right now albeit at a lower price point.

  19. Arcadia literally has us by the short hairs.

Yeah, this sucks...I literally was forced to buy this damn expensive VF-0S, which I really wasn't planning to do so...if this comes out in a bundle ONLY, the next time I am in Japan, I am bringing the single VF-0S and throwing it through Arcadia's office window.

  20. The Club-M is quite an investment and is also a kit over 15-16 years old. Plus, it's hella hard to find an official one (only 600 or so were ever made afaik)

I have the recasts that were made by hobbyfan with PE parts and decals that were made way back in the day and it looked like such a challenging build i's been sitting in my storage for nearly 1.5 decades lol.

I do, however, have the 1/48 Hase and I would argue it's even easier to build the 1/48 than the 1/72 Hase VF-1 O_o

The recasts are an interesting thought as well. I am not sure which version of the recast, if that is all I could find for a relatively decent price, would be a "safe" buy. I mean I wouldn't want to end up with a kit that would be missing the goodies from the original, or have any issues with the resin itself (warping, execessive flash, etc.). Is there a list of which recasts were done, as well as ways to spot between the original Club M vs. a recast being passed off as the real deal?

That is great to know the Hase 1/48 is a good build. I mean in general, I like working with the larger scale, it makes masking so much easier, plus looks awesome when you wrap it up.

  21. If you can get one, do it. I've got both the Hasegawa 1/48 strike and an Ultimate Detail, and I'll be building both. What's nice about the UD is that you can build it half disassembled to show off all the inner goods, on the fighter, leg armor, and Super Packs. I don't think any pinning is necessary, since it's an airplane kit, and the landing assemblies are all metal.

I probably wouldn't kit-bash them, since the cheapest I've seen an original UD go for is around ¥25000. Bit of an expensive buy for just detail parts.

I can sort of envision this: basically you can build the Hasegawa, potentially in flight, while having the UD kit built out, stripped down in all of its glorious details. Would make for a pretty amazing display. I would have no issue buying it for 25k JPY. I think, as you stated, locating one that is an original is the tough part. I wonder if there are any MW members having this stuck in perma-backlog would let it part (not so subtle hint).
