  1. Just saw this over the weekend.  It drags at the start, but improves in the later half.  Overall, I enjoyed it, but non-manga/anime fans may not enjoy it as much.  Given the complexity of the original manga (and even the anime film), I honestly don't know how they could have done it better.  I would rank it a bit higher than Zack Snyder's Watchmen.  Bottom line: go into it with low expectations and you may come away entertained.

  2. Now that Arcadia are trickling out some of these "Exclusive" Premium Finish valks to HLJ, they ought to go ahead and:

    1. Cancel the regular Strike VF-1S Hikaru

    2. Shift all production to the Premium Finish version

    3. Drop the price on the Premium Finish version just enough to make it noticeable, but not to the level of the regular version.

    4. Make the Premium Finish version available to all the retailers that can normally carry macross merch

They won't be able to keep this in stock.

And we'll actually be "thanking" them despite what in the end would be an across the board price increase for a couple of tampos!

  3. Hi, friends.  Will be back in Hong Kong for a short vacation after five long years.  Got some great tips here for my last trip (thanks again, Neova!) and was hoping you cool folks can give some updated advice on where to shop.

Priorities are Hi Metal R and Arcadia (dare I hope to see a stray Yamato or two?).

I know some stores have shady reputations for selling opened stuff as "brand new" and would like to avoid those.

An important wrinkle this time is that I will be going around with my wife and baby, so family friendly places would be best.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. Oh yeah? How come Harmony Gold hasn't gone after these companies infringing on their copyrights?

    RoboTech Center

    Robotech Labs

    Robotech CAD Solutions

    Robotech Eng Co. Ltd.

    Robo-Tech

Because "Robotex" deals in some of the same product categories that Robotech does, and Robotex appears to be popular enough that it could dilute the Robotech brand, particularly in a marketplace as crucial as China.

  5. What are you talking about? Robotech was brought to China decades ago. HG has released several Robotech DVD sets and comics there - some which never even got released in the US. China is undoubtly one of HG's most important markets.

I'm guessing this may be one of the reasons why HG is desperately trying to keep Robotech in the public consciousness:

    Robotex

It's got an English dubbed Korean animated show on Cartoon Network Philippines and a full toyline in local stores.

  6. I'd be too nervous to attach one of my valks to something like that unless there was a cheat, like a clear clamp to secure the underbelly. Don't imagine the back plate would be sturdy enough to support the weight of the whole thing for long.
