Hi-Metal R
in Toys
This last series of pics by sh9000 makes me so happy. We're finally getting a complete line of Macross toys after all these years. Not models, toys. Great time to be a fan and collector!
My collection so far:
- Focker VF-1S Strike Valkyrie
- DYRL GBP Armored VF-1J
- Hikaru TV version VF-1J
- VF-1A Cannon Fodder (2)
- Glaug
- Regult (2)
- Max & Millia VF-1J (preorder)
Will Bandai extend the HMR license to other Macross series too ?
-
Awesome battle.
They don't have any idol group to dragged them down
But then, Gundam is the flagship of Bandai's mecha....heck, it's even the flagship of any mecha franchise.... Bandai must handle it properly.
-
Is Patlabor Reboot going to be a season length TV series or Movie ?
And how does it relate to The Next Generation ? Because then they will have 2 'retelling' in .such a short time.
-
How many point of articulations will this be ?
From the screenshot, I see even the fingers are articulated.
Is this developed using Sketchup ?

During atmospheric reentry, the pilot might use Gerwalk mode to reduce speed to the point where the heat is tolerable by any lugged ordnance. This is Valk we are talking about
-
Now, that you mention it, VF-25's legs also have to accomodate mechanism to retract the ventral fins.
Overall, design-wise, I feel VF-31 is more 'compact'/space-efficient. Not counting the wing hardpoints, it can allocate larger percentage of its' mass to weaponry/ordnance.
While VF-25 might have to accomodate the swing-wing mechanism too
-
By cramming micro-missile launcher + 'calf' bay on the lower leg, I wonder if VF-31's engine is more compact (but still stronger) than VF-25.
On the other hand, they have to move the landing gear to the knee-cap to accommodate all the above.

Could this be concept art of an sv-154
Nice,
Intake -> Shoulder armor
Main Wings -> Skirt armor
Rudder -> Backpack
-
Actually, when you think about it, the VF-171EX makes very little sense as its controls were overhauled to be the same as the VF-25's. You'd have troops with much the same learning curve either way. The changes to the controls and the aircraft's performance would've meant even experienced VF-171 pilots would be doing some serious retraining.
Maybe the purpose is to familiarize the pilots with the new system first (using existing airframe), while VF-25A is being developed/produced/whatever. somekind of stopgap, before fully migrating to 25A

... because the main heroes are basically indie music band, not another military group.so really the best comparison is Macross 7 where the military was both heroes and punching bags.

Well... the way it's described, the speaker pod launcher sounds like it's likely a cousin of the high-speed armor-piercing rocket launchers commonly found on Armored Pack. The line art for the speaker pods themselves shows they have a small rocket motor affixed to the rear, so the only major difference would be that the speaker pods aren't carrying a lethal load of OTM-based explosives.
As I recall from first few episodes, Basara seems to have good aim, as he hit most of the enemy by single shot (As opposed to the VF-11s which had hard time scoring hit).
Or it could be his VF-19 has better targeting system.
-
And Frontier stole it from Star Trek's "inertial dampers", and Trek probably wasn't the first with the idea.
Shock absorber...anyone ?
-
So, as it stacks up by estimate:
VF-25 Armored Pack: 16,000kg
VF-31 Super Pack: ~10,000kg
VF-25 Super Pack: ~2,000kg
The VF-31's Super Pack really must be layering on additional armor, otherwise it must be really badly designed to weigh THAT much.
Maybe the weight of the Sound-Booster container is included ?
-
I wonder which 31 will be next.
I think it could be MIrage's
-
I'm not sure who exactly was doing the shooting, only that the bolts were red. Also, it looks like Chuck didn't take any hits, but Arad took a few without consequence.
You have a good eye to notice this.
Probably just small caliber bullet, so it's easy to be brushed off by ECA.

Sorry to bump this thread.
Got a couple of questions :
1. About the rudders, are they removable from the main wing ?If yes, is the peg on the rudder part or is it on the wing ?
2. Is the container detachable from the swing arm ?
-
Doesn't the ghost drone on VF-0 also have similar function ? CMIIW.It was an innovation, all right... but not one made by the Dian Cecht SV Works.
The Macross Galaxy Guld Works beat them to the punch on that one by about eight years... the VF-27's Super Pack included a QF-5100D Goblin II UCAV mounted dorsally that could similarly detach from its mothership VF and operate independently (or be remotely controlled using the pilot's BDI).
-
VF-1 was king in the category, with as much as four pylons per wing in later blocks (but only in the Master Files), up to 6 RMS in some of Tenjin Hidetaka illustrations.
Don't forget rudder hardpoints on Kakizaki's -1A
So spec wise, the Sv-262 is about 10% stronger than the VF-31, and probably more mass productive too.
Does the Sv-262Hs top the YF-29 concept machine in any way?
Is the anti VF Sv-262 the strongest variable fighter to date, even in terms of combat against non VFs?
And what is the consensus on the Sv-262's ability to fold?
VF-31 already has mass production too, -31A.
If price can be used as an indication, I think YF-29 is still the better machine.

The ones on the Su-37 were. They look like water-slides, but actually are a bit different. Do not attempt to trim excess decal film away, leave it be. Give it a wide berth, like you would a dry transfer. Apply like a normal water-slide, but do not use any setting solution. Let dry. Then, peel away the excess clear film much like you would a dry transfer.
Interesting. I suppose this type of decal is middleground between water-slide & dry transfer ?

My question is, how much are the fighters controlled by AI now? If Messer's flight data makes Hayate's refurbed fighter "better" then one wonders how much flying skill is actually him or the fighter?
Good point. If it's the AI/Fligth data that makes Hayate flies better, then they could have install it for the whole fleet.
And the Grace plot v2.0 is just lazy story writing. Ruling over them is sufficient; why the network part?
Yes. From what I see so far, Roid's motive for having hidden agenda (even from Heinz & Keith) is unclear.
Basically, Roid is doing what Heinz wants to achieve, not sure why Heinz turn his back.
So in this matter, either Roid betrays Heinz, or the other way around: Heinz is the one betraying Roid.
-
Positive. At least, this is the best in the last 13 episodes.
We get to see the action we've wanted, although the intensity of the battle is disrupted by talking between naked people.
It concludes only the triangle love & Roid's diabolical plot. Some other aspects are left unclarified.
Seeing how Windies lost most of their strength (the ultimate weapon a.k.a star singer, the mastermind & the best knight), it will be stupid if Heinz still want to continue the galactic conquest.
I think they even have their back against the corner now, as Roids' 'humanoids neural network' won't be ignored now, and Heinz will have to be responsible for that.
If there is a movie (or two) for this, it will be more like retelling/recap of the TV episodes, it will not be an extension/continuation of the TV.
Question : Does XAOS consider Hayate as ace pilot now that they grant him permission to have personal emblem on the fighter ? Or does the emblem only there because the 31 has Messer's flight data ?
to be honest I can't even bring myself to watch the last two episodes..
the whole series has been kinda blah..
I guess im only in it for the Valkyrie toys!
Then just watch the last episode, fast-forward the talking part

I was thinking the same. While Frontier super packs's boosters are blended with the wings, Delta puts them on top of the wing.
But then I think it's to allow the outer wing to fold down during transformation.
