  1. Hi Guys,

I just opened up my Toynami Scott Bernard ... it's cool! I'd always liked the Toynami book-like packagaing. The 1/10 figure is taller than the 1/8 Gakken cyclone...interesting.

Anyhow, I wanted to ask you guys if you have problems standing up Stick Bernard by himself, in a relaxed position. I have problems standing him up.

And also, I'm surprise to see that his red suit is like pleather ... it seem like it'll crack easily over time, and the suit is stitched. I see the stitching already ripping a bit when you spread his legs to sit on the bike.

Any of you guys have this problem? I am surprise that not much attention has been given on the bottom legs/anke and foot area.

The legs on the beta version looks way better ...

Now I'm deciding whether to get Rand or not, knowing the quality, I'm at 50/50. If I were to get it, it'll just be to complete Volume 1 & 2. But I'm sure of it that this toyline will emerge a year or two from now.

Lastly, do you guys have any idea why the price was bumped from $79.99 to $199+ ?

  2. What if .... what if ... Toynami and Beagle is pulling a fast one on us; that this news of no more 1/10 cyclones is a ploy to get everyone to buy, buy, buy!!!

After all, sales were not that good with the first two due to the fact that their original $79.99 exploded to $220 or so. Anyone have any idea why the companies decided to mark up the price to almost 3 times the original price? WTF?

Well anyhow, I'm deciding whether to pick up Rand for $170 shipped. I got Stick at the Comic Con.

  3. Damn, I just picked up MPC 1 by Toynami at the Comic Con...I have not opened it yet, lol. I'm thinking about going there now and buying the Rand version.

But you know what, things go in circles, in a couple of years these things will be re-released.

Does anyone know why the price on these figures are so high?

If there was ever a reset option, I say Toynami rework the details of the figure and make it even more intricate. But don't release the figure in a complete set. I say do it in stages: Figure, Cycle and Accessories. This idea can also be a pretty neat project as to once all purchased, the packaging all fit together to for, say, a tool box shape or a cylindrical cylcone part. You guys get what I mean.

This will offer the collector a chance to save up for each part of the figure. The only catch is...Toynami will need to do an excellent job on the details and poseability of the figure.

  4. Man, a lot of negative comments and reviews on this movie.

Before seeing ROTF, I watched the first movie twice. It's actually entertaining; like a movie that you would play in the background while a party is in session or while cleaning your room.

I like the movie as it is, an entertainer. I tried not to relate any plot consistency with the original cartoons story or DreamWave storyline...or hold gripes about the change of characters.

I think the movie just needed some key scenes with good dialogue and with some close up movements of the robot characters. I noticed that people in general react more to human faces and expression when hearing dialogues because that is the nature of things. So when we see these robotic characters with weird shapes, and unrefined camera pans and angles, their movie lines does not translate emotions well enough to evoke a feeling.

For the third installment, I would recommend to Bay to maybe isolate a longer fight scene between Optimus and Megatron with more clean angels and camera pans. As a designer and artist, it would have been pretty cool working on this movie; conceptualizing robot designs and story boarding. I am not a big fan of Devastator on this movie, the original green giant will always be my favorite. I'm glad that the U.S. Navy was able to take him out easily with the rail canon.

  5. What's up! (OFF TOPIC)

I didn't know where else to ask nor wanted to start a new thread for this question below.

Do any of you know if there exist an EVA-01 Type F add-on for the Bandai Perfect Grade EVA-01 version, either an original kit, or molded cast? Maybe G-System, but I could not find any info on their site.

Too bad there is no "hold shift down and drag to increase size" for these model kits.

  6. Looks nice, I'd like to get it....but it looks flimsy...it doesn't look stable. I hope the joints are tight as ufkc to a point where there is no room for wobbles. A similar case is with the initial 1/48 release and their legs. I hate wobbly stuff. They should have made this at 1/3000 scale. Dang. Dang man.

  7. For our fellow peeps just starting out, the digital SLRs are becoming more popular these days versus film. So if you're jumping into the digital realm, fine tune your fundamentals first. I'd say take an internship with a pro, and take some classes.

If you only have a point and shoot digital camera, I suggest having Photoshop help you fine tune the photos, learn about levels and your selective colors etc...this will help out when you get your fingers dirty with nef raw files.

Lightroom comes in handy too, especially when you're performing batches of functions etc.

So before you start buying all these expensive cameras, tripods, lenses, lights and pano mounts, may I suggest a simple book to get you started: "The Creative Digital Darkroom" by Katrin Eismann and Sean Duggan.

Photoshooting either action sports, protraits, weddings, food, models or action figures...I think it'd be good to have a solid foundation...and each event will require you specific equipment.

I'm just starting out too, and learning with my company camera. It's several years old, the Nikon D70s at 6.1 mp with a kit lens f3.5 18-70mm.

Good luck to everyone and their endeavors!

  8. I'm a 3rd group person here, but I buy just 1 item, not the double-open-one-and-keep-the-other-MIP. I store the unopened figures until I feel like opening them. I like to look at the box, gawk at the box. Each time I walk into our computer room, I feel like I'm walking inside a toy store or a comic book store. I like it, and it makes me feel like a young boy.

Some action figures are open, some are still in the box. And no non-articulated items for me. I like action figures, the more points of articulation the better for me. The figures are displayed through out the room, but there is one spot I call the gallery, and every several weeks, a figure stands on that podium as my figure of the week, the special one...the one where I look at it and it's relative theme song plays in the background from my workstation. And I say to myself, "***k yah, dope @$$ s**t!"

I know they're expensive, but they're cool. I am very careful with them, and they sure don't stay static because the fun is inposing these figures in different action positions...that is my satisfaction, from the television and onto the palm of my hands!

Unfortunately I'm a graphic designer, and most of the toy packaging sucks. I'm planning on encasing them on better, more space friendly packages...and more presentable...kinda shows off their true worth...and their badarse-ness!

  9. I am actually planning to make a comic, featuring myself and my wife as traveling peeps with our two cats! Not sure how the story will go, but we help strangers with their troubles. Sound familiar? May be a cliche for many, but most of circumstances and events on these anime are honed from real life experiences.

But anyway, when there is good, there is also the bad. I plan to base the "bad guys/girls" on stupid-ass people we know...and from loud jerks out there who like to start sh** but got no ballz to back their sh** up! Sorry, I sound a bit ghetto for a sec...oh yeah, and those ***kers who drive like sh** and have very little disregard to fellow peeps.

I've not plan to be famous or make money from this...I think I'll just post it on my website.

But if our life was an anime series, definitely Naruto! And my wife would be Hinata Hyuga, but with a little more spunk!

Evening hot showers are the best! :)

  10. Hey, so have most of you pre-ordered the Ozma custom VF-25S with the wicked armor pack? The first time I saw it on the animated show, I was like, "oh sh**, they're gonna actually produce an action figure out of that?"

And then BAM! Pre-ordered, and my wife doesn't know it yet. Damn, I feel like I'm cheating on her. This is worse than going to a strip club. Heh.

  11. Yeah, you know what? That is lame for Yamato to milk this whole special/limited edition weathered look.

If you're really concerned and frustrated that you are so turned off that you don't want to get it...I would recommend spending the money for your next valkyrie and invest on an air compressor & air brush kit. You can probably get a set for $219 USD or cheaper.

This way, you can control the weathering look, and you'll be able to apply the technique on all your other figures that need weathering.

So skip your next valkyrie purchase and get an airbrush kit. Just remember to be subtle, and weathering looks best when the whole valkyrie is wash-up light gray with weathering, not shinny bright white.

I don't have any 1/60 VFs yet, hoping that they'll do a VE or VT.

Now, go get your hands dirty dirtah!

  12. Funny, just a couple of years ago I posted to one of these topics about a 1/2000 SDF-1...and now, BAM! I do hope that this is not an April fools joke. And I think this photo, http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/images/cms...27/p1120362.jpg is the actual size once transformed.

Considering the amount of plastic on this one and hopefully metal joints on stress-heavy areas, I think the price will significantly rise with increased detail.

    I would guess $539.99 USD

I sold my 1/3000 matchbox SDF-1, I'd like to get this one now. It'll be my biggest toy purchase, surpassing my $335 BT-17. I'll definitely need to do some explaining to the wife about childhood memories once this bad boy comes around.

  13. I think that's my main problem with the show... the 00-Raiser is just too overpowered, there was never a real opponent that came remotely close to taking it down. I had high hopes for the Susanoo but it lasted about as long as the GN-flag <_< .

I think the Gundam Strike Freedom can take down the 00. Coordinator versus Innovator.

    What's next? Terminator? Collaborator? Deductionator?

The end of Season 2 is sucking. Why can't 00 slice the big mothership in half? And the captain, Sumeragi, normally she's got some super duper plan...and all they do is charge? Come on!

And if there is a movie that's suppose to come, this is leaving a clue of why these last 4 episodes are disappointing...too much hype but fizzes out in the end.

And that's a big ass purple HARO.

My prediction: Like Morpheous says, some sort of singing, they all stop and pause like it's some miracle, someone gets distracted and gets sliced in half. A lot of characters hugging and kissing, everyone floating is frozen space with flowery colors, naked...with the same message of hope and human endeavors and peace...it's always the same sh**ty ending with these shows. And they leave you hanging all the time, as if the writers and directors want you to guess or spend time trying to figure out their personal message or ideology.

And we're loving it...I watch it...eagerly wait for each new espisode...and this is the worst part...I buy the damn model kits.

    Sheesh.

  14. I'd like to see a 30th anniversary perfect grade RX-78-2 with more panels and a full armor add-on kit armor, or a perfect armor add-on kit. I started on my perfect grade back in 1999...finished it unpainted and un-paneled. I bought a 1/60 B-Club FA-78 armor resit kit in 2001...and still have not finished till today, LOL.

  15. yeah ribbons probably got rid of his body already. he transferred his mind on to a lot of his clones and maybe even a mobile suit.

the show has never shown all CB mobile suits in transam mode in a close accelerated, and coordinated attack. i don't know how long transam lasts for each MS but, the 00 can lead the way backed by allelujah and the first fire suppression will be lockon and the 2nd barrage will be tieria. sestuna will be the spear head and whatever target he missed allelujah will pick up. lockon can snipe enemies pursuing the first two and virtue will pick up on what lockon missed. dynames can have its shields be on a defense to cover the back on virtue, or have them as extra snipers on offensive mode.

    like a party train!

  16. i'm not really a fan of this character and art...don't like witchblade too. reminds me of ghetto booty rice rocket model chicks. their faces are not appealing and their suits are like thongs with razor blades. i'm not a big fan of megan fox either. i dunno, maybe it's just michael turner's treatment of his characters' eyes. they all look the same.

i'd rather see olivia munn on the screen than megan fox. gooo olivia!
