  1. yeah, don't forget and keep in mind, sometimes the production crew and directors will use very little colors as much as they can when the opportunity presents itself.

isn't all this covered in Miyatake Kazutaka Macross & Orguss Design Works or Valkyries: Tenjin Hidetaka Art Works of Macross?

bah, i don't know what i'm talking about.

  2. Hi Gang,

Just out of topic here ... I happened to stumble on the Toynami display cases at the 2005 Comic Con and saw a test figure for the Beta Fighter (VBF-9?).

I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but here are some photos taken with my cell phone. Better and higher resolution images should be popping out soon on the net.

The figure is close to 12" inches tall and pretty buff.

What do you guys think, is this Toynami figure worth the purchase?

  3. I'm not a dad yet...but Legos are a good option.

Keep the valkyries away from them until they're older and can appreciate their values.

That's just me...$127-$145 bones is a lot of money for inexperienced hands. Just throw that stuff in their savings account.

Then again, if you guys have plenty, anyone willing to sell one of their low viz 1/48?

    Hee hee. :D

  4. wow, you guys are well off with shelves and display cases...i've seen a couple of IKEA...it's all glass with 4 shelves.

since we don't have a lot space in our apartment, and my collection of figures is not that much...i've been planning to create a stand/platform where i display a new action figure every week. currently the figure in spotlight is on top of my computer case.

i'm hoping to post them on my website...but i've been having problems finding time to do it.

have any of you guys thought about installing "track lights" to illuminate your figures...or would the light harm the colors of the figures?

  5. There's a balance achieved in the way things work out...as long as you do what you want to do that'll do you good.

Two years ago when I met my girlfriend, I told her that I still buy and build "toys." She's fine with it, and said that as long as it keeps me happy and her happy.

But she does disagree with me in bidding on ebay for a $300 + 1/48 low viz. I'm bidding on a couple of them anyway, but I know I'll lose.

You figured I would have just "paid now" for a 1/48 Low Vis after dropping $13K last night on a new Apple G5 and Adobe programs...

    ...and I still don't have a Low Viz. :)

So hey, it's your thang, do what you want to do...as long as it keeps you happy, safe and dry..and your loved ones too!

But uh, once more, great collection man! Now I'm saving for that solitaire ring...and lastly for a house...geez luiz.

  6. for xmas?

i wish for a 1/48 Hi NU-Gundam by G-System...it'll definitely look real good with my 1/48 VF-1S is eagerly awaiting the 1/48 GBP armor set...i'm all into that comparison thing.

a perfect grade GAT-X105 STRIKE GUNDAM from Gundam SEED and RX-78 GPO1/FB Perfect Grade wouldn't be bad either...would look good with the 1/60 GBP/Valkyrie set.

i don't think i'm gonna get any of the above...saving up for a Mac G5 so i can do more freelance work...so i can buy that damn Low Viz!...u know what i mean?

  7. Mr. eXoh

Well pardon me with not being so savy with your {IMG}s and [OPP]s.

    ?

Shawn I am sorry. If your servers are crashing and important threads are being polluted with junk replies like mine; reposting the "thunder hummer" photo.

And if all peeps, (principal members?), super-duper fans of this board is so concerned about 146k added once more and taking up server space, then start charging so that MW can buy more server space.

Of course that defeats the purpose of having a free message board/forum...and ruining thefun.

But so what, people who buy $125 action figure can definitely shell out more than pennies for this forum.

So stop bitchin' once again, and start recognizing the fact that the thunder hummer should be exploited more and more...maybe G-System will take notice.

BTW, I think the GBP armor will be $89.99 USD when it comes out. So don't worry, you guys should be able to buy 50 each.

  8. Another. Some more visible at http://www.modelhangar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=325

    Thanks again, nucleartiger!

    ewilen,

nice pic of the VF-1S and the F-14 next to each other.

the 1/48 scales are pretty close actually.

please correct me if i am wrong, and check your sources...

the VF-1 in fighter mode is 14.2 meters in length = around 46.5 feet

the F-14 is 19.5 meters in length = around 64 feet

    but, take the actual measurement of the 1/48 vf-1s toy...it's close to 12.5" x 48 / 12 = 50 ft.

i don't mind the discrepancies...these toys are dope!

'hope to get some pics of my own uploaded soon...once i get a digital camera. :D

"please oh please, yamato, get that 1/48 GBP-1S or GBP-2X created!"

  9. Another noob fan:

    1/48 = 7

    1/48 Fast Packs = 3

    1:48/1:60 Stands = 2

    1/48 Clear Fast Pack = 1

    1/48 GBP-1 Armor = (fingers crossed)

    1/55 = 6 (including jetfire)

    *missing 1/48 low-viz....anyone willing to sell a 1/48 low viz? :(

  10. grenade box protector?

    how about: gear body protection?

ground-combat protector weapon system? too bulky for space, but rick hunter did fly it when he encountered the

companies in the east tend to make direct translations of their words from equivalent english words...does that make sense?

anyone here read japanese? has anyone checked out Shoji Kawamori's Macross Design Works Pg. 38 ... the VF-1J Armored Valkyrie sketches with the GBP armor.

...and how about this one hotshots...

    G.U.N.D.A.M. ?

  11. As a fan of Macross/Robotech, I think I am mostly intrigued by the technology and the mixture of alien life forms etc. As a kid seeing that valkyrie in Robotech reminded me of my favorite F-14A Tomcat by Grumman. I'm not sure if it's pure accident or if Shoji Kawamori was heavily influenced by the Tomcat's design, but it was very thoughtful of Kawamori to show-off the Tomcat in Macross Zero.

And in the context of collecting valkyries to make money in the future, more power to those who can afford fifty-plus yamato valkryies. But the future is a gray void. I am not knocking anybody down, but take a look at the VF-1S Takatoku gift set (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36568&item=5925848075&rd=1). Back in 1998, the piece sold for $1400 ... then came Toynami with the Masterpiece Collections ... and then came Yamato 1/48 scaled valkyries (bigger, better etc.)

Bandai will probably put out some Perfect Grade VF-1 GBP set...just as a guess, but who knows.

There are some collectors who play a big part in the consumer world, off-balancing other fans' opportunities in acquiring some figures. These are the collectors who buy numerous prints in hopes of reselling them for a profit. But what about peeps who can't afford to readily buy these valkyries ... they end up buying marked-up prices ... and are scolded for doing so ... it's not their fault.

If you really want to make money from these valkyries, go commission an artist or a company (G-System?) to create an all die-cast version ... and maybe, 100 hundred years from now, it'll be worth something in wallstreet-ebay.com? Hah. With "competition driving quality," your best bet is to modifying or make your own valkyrie.

So in the end, I'd say just stick to buying two of every valkyrie that comes out, LOL. One for the vault, and one to open....and don't hog the market by buying 40+ Low Viz valkryies!

By the way, the F-14 will be decommissioned soon and be replaced by the F-18. Also, if you guys get a chance, check out the program in KPBS about the Joint Strike Fighter selection...which pretty much is like Macross Plus (minus the love story)....Boeing's X-32 versus Lockheed Martin's X-35!

    post-4-1097486631_thumb.jpg

  12. F14Tomcat,

You should start your bid as low as possible, people who want them will bid on your items.

Not sure if this is old news, but www.hlj.com is restocking VF-1S Roy Focker 1/48 valkyrie for December 2004.

    ---

Does anyone have a 1/48 Low Viz for sale?

  13. Check the FS section of the forums OR go to ebay.com, I believe there's one right now that's going for $300, or what some might call here "an arm 'n a leg"!:D

    connor99,

yeah, i saw that low viz for $300 with buy it now.

has anyone of you bought from that seller? the item has been opened and displayed. in my mind i was thinking, that thing must reek of smoke...heh heh...not to put him down or anything.

but the search goes on, i had my friend from japan bid on a low viz on ebay.japan...those things sell like gold!

is chibitokyo.com still selling vf-1s? i don't see it on thier site.

tisinc99.com has a low viz for $389! (cough!)

is anyone planning to make a purchase like that? or have made a purchase at that price for a 1/48? ... let me know about your justified decision.

  14. forget it guys...leave this one be...it ain't worth it.

you can better customize your own.

plus, the black color on that plastic sucks.

low viz is much better. (uh, anyone has one for sale?)

if they were to make a HOLY GRAIL of all 1/48 valkyries, then full treatment should be given to a complete package ... all die-cast, with complimentary Fast packs...and the GBP armor....and with a heavy duty stand....and specs/schematic...a poster even!...

    what do you guys think.

  15. dang hurin! you done did it boey!

i think once you posted that link to chibitokyo for VF-1S...peeps just donged on that like there was no tomorrow!

    but thank you!

wheeooo, i got one just in time.

all i need now is a LOW VIS VF-1A.

    heh heh.

    ;)

  16. Hey Hurin,

Thanks for the link to https://www.chibitokyo.com

The VF-1S (1st Edtn.) was the first 1/48 I bought...and applied the fast packs on...and broke the BP8 hinge...sheesh. I've been trying to find VF-1S all over the internet, but they sell from $250 to $275.

I tried posting some messages if other peeps were able to make recast...but, no replies.

Yamato should make that part metal, or strong plastic...what are they thinking! Dont' transform your valkyries with the fastpacks on!

Any of you guys know if 1/48 GBP armor is on the way?

How about 1/48 Thunder Hummer armors?

Any of you guys heard of G-System from Hong Kong?

    Booyah!
