  1. Seems like everyone's received their SV-51s as the replies have lessen a bit on this topic.

I opened up my pre-ordered box from LAFToys and it's decent. I was expecting better artwork and font usage...heavier box, but nope. I wish the instruction booklet was in color.

First impression I had was the SV-51 doesn't feel like a $220 toy/figuring/action figure. I left the figure at work, and have only held it while on jet mode. It doesn't feel solid. The 1/48 surpasses this toy in terms of being well rounded; especially the 1/48 feeling more solid.

I've yet to read the complete 90s area regarding stress marks and loose hinges...and Graham's review (amongst others) I did noticed both wings to be loose.

Aack, and nothing against LAFToys, they did an "ok" job on the packaging but my Yamato box was dented/creased on many places. But then again, it maybe from a bad batch straight from the provider.

I'm gonna check out this valkyrie more and hope that after transforming/posing/fiddling with it, that I may feel that $220 was well worth spent.

I hope that the upcoming YF-21 will have tighter joints in all places, from wings to shoulders.

  2. "Holy Grail" items in my possession personally...

    2. Yamato 1/48 Low Visibility Gray Version

    3. Optimus Prime MP-04

    4. Yamato 1/48 VF-1J + GBP-01 Armor Combo

    5. 1986 Max Ray Centurions Figures MISB Unopened (My first toy after arriving in the USA).

    "I Want!" list:

    1. 1/144 Gundam RX-78GP03 Dendrobium

    2. 1/48 RX-93-2 Hi-Nu Gundam by G System

    3. 1/2500 SDF-1 Fully Transformable (if possible)

  3. gosh damn...looking at those photos of the 19 and the 1s, and man they are GAUDY!!!!

sorry to say gang, but those two look like they were spray painted with matt car paint and lined with a Pilot or Sanford Gold Ink pens.

    aw geeez.

now the funny thing is, i pre-ordered both? wth? i think it's the "limited" thing getting to me like the LV1, paying thrice the amount to get one.

    sheeesh.

we should take a vote of who's buying and who's skipping these issues.

  4. Man, the editors need to double check their info on some of the import toys cuz they are off.

    i'm a fan of robotech/macross and that photo is a 1/48.

i'm also a gundam fan, and that perfect grade they're showing is 12 inches tall, not "nearly two feet tall"....ah geeez.

man, i have a takara prime and the 18" spiderman with 67 p.o.a....does that make me special?

  5. Aw man!...this dvd just came out? I'm hitting up Target tonight!

I like this movie a lot; it's just wholesome goodness, with Ben Stiller! Don't you feel like the Mystery Men with your circle of friends fighting crime and doing justice?...that is at home and at work...from bbq, mowing the lawn to that last minute project? Eh heh heh.

I think All Star by Smash Mouth really went well with the movie (I think)...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM96bQkJ-mc

Wholesome goodness my friends...and also with Pee-Wee Herman! LOL.

Buy It! Good flick to watch while winding down after a long day of snowboarding! And lotsa beer! Or just simply kickin' it with your buddies!

And don't forget to watch "Who Wants To Be A Superhero" on the Sci Fi channel (USA)...hee hee!

  6. oh man, i dunno for me...the colors are just not doing it for me...and the gold trim. these 25th annv pieces reminds me of some kid spray painting the entire figure and using those gold ink pens to do panel lines.

and i be these will probably a little higher than the other valkyries. at this point if i were to get it, it'll be because it's a 25th annv version. a repaint.

now if yamato were to come up with a better packaging for these two 25th valkyries and add a stand, and some nice colored printed booklets to go along with it...then maybe i'll get it. repaints suck.

yamato should have done the VF-4 for the 25th annv...i would feel a lot more excited and fired up. the vf-19 was release twice already, and now for a third time? and the same goes with the VF-1s...sheeesh.

now i don't know the haps with marketing or where yamato stands in terms of meeting numbers for this year, or if they have a quota for the next five years...but they know fans will buy macross stuff no matter what comes up...even if it's the 10th repaint of the same mold.

i just think that the 25th annv event or time would have been more special or exciting with a different valkyrie. i mean, just look at the topic of this post; "stickers vs tampo"?

  7. Happy Birthday, Dave!

Sorry, out of topic here, but I am asking if any members here have the Black Convoy, BT-17 released only in Japan for 5,500 yen?

There is one on ebay right now that I just saw.

I'd like to complete my Binaltech collection, and would you guys think it's worth it to spend 44,750 yen ($390 USD) for the figure? is this justifiable to complete the Binaltech series?

My thoughts are that consistancy matters, so would it be right to say that the BT series ended with BT-16 because anything after are in different packaging?

    What do you guys think?

  8. I got my Yamoto Konig Monster today and the arms.....um.......suck! I can't get them to do anything short of "flop". I considered taking the screws out and putting somethig in the joints to tighten them up. But I figured I would ask the pro's first.

    thanks

    Jason

Hey Jason, what worked for me is thickening some the elbow area with transparent scotch tape. I can't take any photos at the moment; I'm replying from work...but it should work. I hope this helps. I'll try to get some photos, and maybe a video.

  9. heh heh, the M16 girl...is Cherry Darling in the movie. the model portraying her is pretty cute also. that booth of grindhouse was always packed with noobs peeping her, taking photos...really busy intersection.

the first shot i took was about 40 feet away with a zoom via my digital camera...i couldn't get close because of so many people:

the second shot was saturday...so many people around that area that i started to perspire during this 19 second clip just standing there:

the third shots is of the scott bernard cyclone:

<--"youtube still says it's processing at 11:03 pm 07-29-07 PST...
  10. A$$rape prices are already appearing on eBay ....

aah geeez...i went preview night and today (thursday) and no luck with the Hasbro Toy Store. you have to fight a mass of folks in line to get tickets to buy...and then you gotta go back at a designated time in order to purchase.

they only give out tickets at 10 am and 2 pm.

weak sauce. i'll try to get myself one tomorrow...but i know that i'll fail.

i see peeps buying up to 10 rodimus at a time...then i just checked on ebay too with a $50 price tag.

ultimate bumble bee is also available.

  11. That fold booster looks like my Superman Pen...I should take a pic and post it up...heh.

The way the fold booster is attached on to the YF-19 is still pretty weak. You'd figure you're traveling super fast and your craft is held by 4 weak anchor points...the fold booster would snap off based on physics.

I think the fold booster should have been made more to cradle the craft than attach to it.

...but i still ordered the boosters just to keep up with the Jones!

  12. i've always been interested in getting one of these dragonhawk from the GI JOE Sigma 6 line. so after some time of seeing the price go from $39.99 USD to $19.99 USD, i finally cracked and bought one from toys r us.

i actually passed up an optimus prime movie version for this...wth?

so i opened it up and put the pieces together, this toy is not too shabby. i'm thinking about doing some air brush work and panel lines, and hiding the neon parts.

for $20...this toy is not that bad. it's about 23 cm tall, 46 cm wide, and about 62 cm long from the tip of the mini gun to the tail fin.

carrying the toy may be a bit too heavy for a 5 or 6 year old during play time, but it sure does spark the imagination!

  13. i'd always thought that EVA-04 was pushed aside by the producers and writers...EVA-04 having designed by Americans and several other countries, exploded...versus the other EVAs which were designed by the Japanese.

...a statement there that japanese products superior versus other products especially american.

ie: cars: toyota versus gmc or ford.

just a thought, what do you guys think?

  14. Thanks Tober.

    Hmmm, probably different "doodler".

But, there ain't no harm in sending me an invitation! Hee :)

Back in the days I carried the name [uSA]_Doodler-7. That was when I roamed the planes of online gaming from Counter Strike, Team Fortress to Soldier of Fortune.

    (Sigh) Those were the days.
