There are some big shadows in that shot, hard to say what the colors are supposed to be.
jvmacross is right, Prometheus's flight deck is supposed to be dark blue.
Also, the UN Spacy kite has been claimed by Harmony Gold as a trademark. Not surprised Noel is using it anyways, he doesn't care about the law. But hey, if he keeps using it, it'll weaken HG's trademark claim π

Absolutely incredible build, the wait was well worth it!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for it.

I showed the Macross Special to the 7 year old son of my best friend recently. WITH subs on the laserdisc.
That's strange, I have this laserdisc and it's not subtitled.

The thing isβ¦Is it an official Takatoku product? Are there more Takatoku toys besides Macross that have the Takatoku logo and were made in Taiwan? We all know there are lots of taiwanese toys made from the Takatoku molds, but those have the logo removed and do not have japanese writing. That Takatoku made in Taiwan box is the missing link.
On a more helpful note, note the "MADE IN TAIWAN" on the box cover.

That's fantastic, then it really is selling out π
-
Udon's own page is showing it as sold out too. But the description still says "COMING SOON FROM UDON ENTERTAINMENT"
Probably just another publishing delay.

So I tried playing it on my PS3 and got the same error as you. Even tried it on my Series X and PC and none of those could play it either. I guess it's an authoring error.
I just think it's hilarious that this is the first time anyone's ever mentioned this. I guess we were all understandably too focused on DYRL π

I think the Flashback 2012 disc is a regular DVD. If that's the case, then it's probably region locked.
As for blu-ray discs, the US and Japan are in the same region, which is why it's playable on your PS3. -

I loved the previous series, but I'm lowering my expectations with this one since Warren Ellis isn't involved.
I'm glad there appears to be a new antagonist this time around. Even Iga agreed that bringing back Dracula every time is a bad idea.

I see Calibre Wings is ripping off another IP, this time it's Hasegawa.

They did? Everyone here who wanted Shin's F-14 from M0 got one. A couple of months later, Noel (the owner of Calibre Wings) posted a YouTube update where he practically laughed at Big West.

There was no mention of 'Derivative' in the agreements? I thought in one of the court summaries I saw that, but could be very wrong.
(e.g. old max, vf-1ex, queadluun-rhea, etc?)
The "derivative" wording came from Article 5 of Harmony Gold's agreement with Tatsunoko Production. While the word is never defined in the agreement, it's used in the context of creating adaptions of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, not sequels and such.
QuoteThe Licensor [Tatsunoko Production], as the exclusive author and owner of all worldwide copyrights, moral rights and rights of publication in and to the underlying series, grants to the Licensee [Harmony Gold] exploitation of the copyrights in accordance with the provisions in this Agreement whereby the Licensee is entitled to . . . adapt and prepare derivative works based on . . . the underlying series . . . . (emphasis added)
So yeah, that's where it all came from π

I could be remembering wrong but from my recollection, Beagle's ride armors didn't sell because the world was caught in an historic recession. Personally, I think if somebody put out a high quality classic ride armor today, it'd sell just fine. Β
You're absolutely right, the Great Recession was a factor in Beagle's demise. There's probably a dozen other legitimate factors that played a role in Beagle's collapse.
But toy companies probably don't care about that. All they saw was a company released the most accurate toy representation of the vintage Ride Armor ever, and they died right afterwards. They're not going to risk their money on that.
-
Tatsunoko Production holds the copyright designs to Genesis Breaker, not Sentinel. If anyone's trying to quietly infringe on Tatsunoko's designs, working with Tatsunoko's longtime partner, Harmony Gold, is the wrong way to go about it.
More than likely, the reason MoShow Toys redesiged the Ride Armors is that they've done their homework. The last time someone (Beagle) masterfully turned Ride Armors into toys, they flopped so hard that they killed Beagle. The lesson learned is that you either make cheap Ride Armor toys or you update them into premium toys, like Sentinel did.

It looks ok to me. My biggest gripe is that the neck is too long in battloid mode, hopefully the length can be adjusted according to people's preferences.
And only battloid pics? I guess ThreeZero isn't too confident in its fighter/guardian mode
-
As usual, your use of lighting and perspective really makes your photos memorable. Thanks for sharing!
-
Thanks, but that's not quite what I was looking for. And thankfully so, because someone (from here?) bought it before I would've had the chance to.
If anyone happens to see one publicly for sale, please DM me the site. We Macross fans are pretty ruthless π
-
I gotta admit, it's refreshing to see a beefy battloid mode; it's pretty reminiscent of the old 80's line art. I just hope it doesn't negatively impact fighter mode.
-
Bandai chose to go with short UUM-7 pylons because those are accurate to Kawamori's line art.
I personally prefer the longer pylons, but I can see why Bandai went with short ones.

That's a good point, I'm open to loose versions too!
Yes, they are. What's that old saying, "Copying is the sincerest form of flattery?" π

Around $200 is the most I'd be willing to spend on a professionally built version, but like Mommar said, I don't think that price is practical.
As for other schemes, the only other one I'd be interested in is a Roy scheme. And a downpayment sounds perfectly reasonable considering the labor involved.
