  1. Yup, in the comics, CC's brother was the person who caused the wreck that killed Snake Eyes' family. CC's brother had started drinking heavily and was DUI when the accident occured. CC wanted to blame someone for the wreck other than his brother's own actions, so he wanted to take out revenge on Snake Eyes, which led CC to bring in Zartan and Firefly as assassins.
  2. Ages ago, when I first saw the Dress Blues Gung-ho, I wondered what he was supposed to fight Cobra with given that all he had was that dress sword of his. Maybe his strength? Now I know it was an attempt to portray a Marine in dress blues, but IIRC wasn't there a 12" Gung-ho in blues with at least an M-16/M-203 combo or something?
  3. Wow! If I haven't had to spend so much on tuition in recent years, I'd kept up with the current comic. I guess Bludd will have need of a robot arm then.
  4. The problem with Major Bludd is that I don't think he was ever supposed to have a robot arm. I saw somewhere sketches of early Bludd designs, and it is clear that he was intended to have some sort of armor covering his arm that got turned into some sort of stiff robot looking arm thing. Later Major Bludd figures ditched that wierd covering and had normal arms. Even his comic book characterizations have always been shown as possessing normal arms, unless something has happened recently in the current incarnation of the comic to force him to loose an arm.
  5. Ah, I need to pull out my old Marvel comics. I haven't read them since I started graduate school , and I forgot how the original 1982/1983 Snake Eyes looked there. Maybe Hasbro will do a three pack of CC, Destro and Snake Eyes from the unmasking issue.
  6. I don't know. Snake Eyes looks like a black version of the blue and red one from 1991 that came with the grappling hook, gun, and two swords Snake Eyes 1991. I always thought the original had a pair of goggles that was flush with the commando hood he wore. However, the first Snake Eyes I owned was the one with Timber from 1985 Snake Eyes 1985. At least CC looks more like his comic version by having a flatter facemask than the original version.
  7. I thought I remember Regult being used in one of the Robotech episodes as a PA announcement or something. Then again, its been nearly 20 years since I watched Robotech!
  8. I thought Harmony Gold mandated certain translations/spellings in the Animeigo DVD set so as not to confuse it with their Robotech release.
  9. Yup, any symbolism is a red herring. Focus on the mixed up relationships of the cast and not the etherial religious imagry.
  10. That's the Yamato blowing up in that photo. As the ship sank, it rolled on its side and one of the forward magazines exploded, blowing the ship in two.
  11. Hooded CC was available up until the very end, if I remember, when the original 3 3/4 Joes were replaced with Sgt. Savage and G.I. Joe Ultra.
  12. I sent in for that, and they sent my flag points back saying they had sold out. Next thing I know, Hasbro sent me an Arctic Joseph Colton because so many people complained about not getting the Green Beret version. Go figure.
  13. BTW, Sgt Slaughter's initial vehicle was the Triple T. I never thought how many flag points the USS Flagg was worth. My youngest sister almost got this for me one Christmas as she worked at a Toy Store, but decided what I would do with a 7-ft. piece of plastic. I got shoes instead.
  14. Sgt Slaughter was a mail in figure, then released with a tank-like vehicle, then an APC vehicle.
  15. Serpentor was always a figure pack at retail. He came with that flying vehicle thingy, but he may have been a mail in offer later on. The JUMP, MMS, Polar Bear, and I think the Whale, among others, were later mail in offers.
