  1. I have been reading this post and all the gloom and doom, but I wanted to put in my two cents and optemistic assessment. I do not believe the Macross line will go away despite the re-branding; we may see a delay in new Valks though and just more re-releases. As far as I know the engineering and design teams and people are still the same, and we saw in the last year many new valks and re-releases. I am sure that Yamato was negotiating this company change in the background of its current productions, because it still wanted to make money, and also show the new company that the market for these models clearly exists and is worth persueing. I think this is why we saw the re-release of the VE-1 and VF-4G, one being a unique model that not many people picked up the first time around, and therefore there was a garunteed demand for it, and the other being a complete new design, both of which created hype and demand to the point where they sold out pretty quick. This gives the perception that demand and the market exist.

With the next year, I would think that (and really hope) we see some re-releases of the VT-1 and MAX&MIRA valks. My reasoning for this is that the VF V2 molds and line are proven solid and we know the molds already exist since the M&M models are just bundled VF-1s with strike parts, and repaints. The only difference is that there is a demand for these now. Same goes for the VT-1 which is pretty much the VE-1 with suttle differences. So the company could continue the production of the VF-1 line and produce these models with almost garunteed success they will sell out and make money, while in the background either try to engineer the next Valk using Yamato methods or insert there own design techniques. I do not think this new company can afford to stay out of the Marcross market for a year while it tries to discover its self. Plus they can continue to ride the wave of success that came with the 30th anniversary. We may see re-packaging, but it would not be in the best interest of the company to axe this line. Think of it, people bought duplicates of VF-1s they already had, just for option parts!!! They have us hooked; all they need to do add some $3 option parts and they get $100+ out us. Invest $3 and get $100+ sounds like a good business to me and return on investment. And I am pretty sure this would be the same for M&M re-releases because if they are smart they will make the options parts red and blue making them even more of a temptation for people to buy them again.

(And as much as I want an M&M set, I do not want it bad enough to pay $400 for each right now).

Anyway, those are my two (maybe more) cents.

  2. I have a Macross Plus collection that I am willing to part with. All are MIB with box ware. I am asking $250 + S&H for the VF-19 and $250 + S&H for the VF-22. The fold booster, which I hope to sell with either valk is going for $80 + S&H. I will combine shipping if you want more than one, and if you want all three I will sell the bundle for $550 + S&H. If you are intereseted I can send more pictures. I will include tracking and insurance too. US buyers only and I ship via USPS.

  3. You will be definitly be happy with the Yamato V2. If you are not a serious collector but want something to transform every now and then, look for the VF-1 Cannon Fodder versions (Brown). They are usually the cheapest because most people want the main characters. This is what I have on display and aside from the color, it is the same as the Max/Mira/Fokker version which usually cost more right now since they are out of production.

www.hlj.com is a good site for some V2's VF-1s if there are any left. It seems like the going rates in the states are $150 new. The dollar is weak compared to the yen still, so they fetch a high price still even after US import mark-up.

  4. funny, i did get in on the order "in time" (the last time they were available) and i never got them when they came in to HLJ. They must have oversold preorders last time. Guess my order will be coming in December. This happen to anyone else?

This happened to me. I pre-ordered mine with the Elint Seeker. Never got them in the November. Then I waited for the December restock. They never came and now they say discontinued even though my HLJ cart still says order pending. Really sucks since i did pre-order from anyone else thinking HLJ was smart and would not over order.

  5. Anybody know where to get VF-1J 30'th anniv? i was looking at ebay and HK collectibles but result are none :(

I live in Japan and know of a few places that still have some in stalk as of two weeks ago. I do not know about state side.

Preordered on the first batch @ hlj, my two superparts boxes are finally being processed for shipping today.

At last! I was almost ready to cancel my order to get them somewhere else.

I was wondering, when did you place your pre-order? I pre-ordered mine back in September and now HLJ shows them as discontinued.

  6. I have never sold on here before so bare with me. I have for sale (1) Yamato V2 VF-1S TV version and (1) Yamato V2 VF-1S TV version with Strike Parts. Both are MIB. The box was opened (there was no tape on box just the tabs) to inspect only but valks have never been removed from tray. Sticker sheets also included. I am asking $150 for the VF-1S and $250 for the VF-1S with strike parts shipped. I accept pay-pal and if interested please contact me. I posted a picture and if you want to see more photos just ask. US buyers only.

I am also willing to trade one of these for an MIB VF-X or some other combination of a trade and price difference.

Update 22 March: TV Version VF-1 Sold

  7. Deck Swabber,

I was wondering if you were still looking for a set of these? I see a few on ebay and the post is somewhat dated, and I assuming the ones with the 30th sticker have the option parts since the boxes are same for the pre-anniversary models. Shoot me an email if you are still interested in acquiring a set, I may be able to help.

  8. So I pre-ordered these back in September from HLJ along with the VE-1, and when I log into my account on HLJ it says I placed my Order on 27 December and the strike parts are on back order (already got the VE-1 a month ago). So I am trying to figure out what is going on with people getting these already when I had already pre-ordered them?

u know, all I really need VF-1 wise, is for them to re-release the M&M's. i missed em first time, Id jump on em this time. Then Id be done with the mold.

Unless they do Low Viz/Stealth ones. I still love the Jungle Camo 1/48

I hope they release M&M as well and the VT-1 since it is pretty much the VE-1 with some slight mold differences.
  9. I posted it here and it was on the facebook page.

Roger, thanks again. I guess I need to check facebook more often. Just curious, does Yamato do any other unvailings throughout the year, and is there campus/building open just for normal tours, or was this just a closed special event? If not, I would like to go see their showroom on any other given day if it is open. Agian thank you. Who knows maybe next year the VF-4G will be on sale at their showroom.

  10. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but its only one day a year and is often announced less than a week in advance.

Thanks for the update. That actually sucks because I found out it was just a walk away from Akiabara and I was just there this past Saturday and Sunday. If I would have know about it I would have been there since it sounds like people got some good stuff. Maybe next year, but in what forum/site/post was this announced? I just want to make sure that when next year comes around I know when to look for it since it seems like in 2011 it was in January.
