  1. Ok, I'm still working on my photos and when I woke up this morning I thought it'd be nice to post some picture that could reassure you, hesitating people.

Here are the 6 pairs of hinges.

    generalcu.jpg

You may notice the fat pieces are on the left (Edit: sorry, I meant the "other left" T_T")

    detailgy.jpg

DO NOT FEAR their size difference, it truly doesn't matter!

So far I used a "fat balled one and a slim complement" and it went fine (picture will be posted tonight) and I'm planning to use a regular balled one with a fat complement for the other arm (I still have to take the pin out from the original hinge)

  2. Mine will be getting here anytime. Can you upload some pics to see what you are refering to?

Not tonight unfortunately but I'll have them ready within 24hours, I really have to go to bed right now, don't worry you won't be disappointed, the shooting went fine but it's not completely over yet.

So are you happy with the product, overall?

To be honest I was afraid when I first saw the parts. I washed them in water and "sanded" the with an old toothbrush (within the water). After getting my "Super Oyster" right arm repaired, all I can say is that they are strong and well shaped parts (whatever they're slim or fat), this work of yours (and your friend) deserves respect, everyone will be able to verify that soon. Good job Veef, we all owe you one I guess ;)

  3. ...and what was visible was: Your item has just DEFOLDED!!!

    LOL'd at this one ;-)

I saw on the UPS tracking site that my order has just defolded in my letterbox this morning, have to wait till I get back home tonight (well it's already 12:35 here), damn working hours.

    Scotty, teleportation!

    Edit:

Ok, I got back from work tonight and the box was waiting for me.

Well, they're all here (I ordered 6 pairs) but something caught my eye: they came in two diffrent size. Not much of a bother I think since I tried different combinations (fat A + slim B, fat A + fat B, slim A +fat B , slim A + slim B) and everything seems to be ok, only need to sand them a bit and get rid of the grainy aspect on the mobile parts. I'm making photos of the parts and shooting a "hinge replacement session", I'll eventually post them later (by the end of the week I think).

    Edit 2:

I'm having a hard time transforming my Super Ostrich into battroid mode, its parts are so clenched I could almost call it a Super Oyster (never had so much trouble with my VF-1A v2) :-/

  4. What are you talking about? Nothing is removed from that thing at all. The canopy folds up beneath the chest plate. Other than a new head sculpt and some different colored paint this thing is complete.

I just worked on close-ups so I'm sure I can be understood since I'm not that fluent in English but look at the two pictures:

    canopyt.jpgmissingcanopy.jpg

That seems odd enough to presume the canopy was removed and therefore that it's not the final release but a very advanced prototype. Maybe I'm wrong but even if the canopy goes under the chess plate, we should see a bit of it, shouldn't we?

    Edit: My bad otherwise.

Edit 2: or does the cockpit rotates 180° between the chestplate and the fuselage section? (I'm feeling stupid, I'm not familiar with that mecha)

  5. I don't know much of this company but I don't understand their marketing plans, they seem to follow what I'd call a "full-fail strategy" as if their ultimate goal was neat failure.

It's rather clear that we'll never get the awesome looking:

    - sand GBP (regular GBP is fine too, but I prefer the "desert" one),

    - SuperOstrich,

    - ElintSeeker

    - Low vis VF-1A

And as far as I'm concerned I feel like we'll never get the Glaug too, even Maiden got frustrated and left the company, they have gold here and do nothing with it!

I think I'm going to go buy an autoCAD 2010 bible and start trying to make my own figures with the help of shapeway or whatever 3D printing company.

I'm feeling a bit disappointed at Toynami ("Go, Toynami, go fullfail your destiny" :D ).

  6. If this is a "kit" then it goes in the model kits section and not the toys section. That being said it's cute and I want one!

As said above I have no certitude as to wether it's a kit or not because my japanese is long forgotten (my english tends to go the same way  ).

I found it cute too  so that's why I'd love to find one even unpainted.

So how long til Toynami rips this off???

Toynami sure takes his time (much, too much time) to release its models. They have a beautiful Glaug too that I'd love to get but I heard it's still pending, they also created decent ElintSeeker and SuperOstrich (DYRL) shown a year ago but I believe we'll never see them.

  7. Hi all,

recently, I have been browsing the metalbox's site here: http://www.metal-box.jp .

And found this "no-name-to-describe-the-awsomeness-damn-my-lower-jaw-fell-down-on-the-floor-GLAUG" that appears to be a 1/72 SD kit (without practising Japanese for 15 years I'm more than a bit lost).

Does anyone know where this kit can be found, or if it's gonna reach the regular distribution vendors like hlj (or else I don't mind)?

I fell in love with it and I guess I won't be the only one after seeing the photos, metalbox seems to be specialised in SD kits, this one costs 12000¥ :

Since I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section or if the subject has already been evocated, I leave this up to the admins but I would really love to get an answer to my questions :)

  8. Come on guys,

Veef, created this part to help us all with our broken Valks, he never intend to take orders from anyone or build anything "superficial", we're not in a Mac(ross) Drive and we'll get some news next week.

Thank him ( :hail: ) for what he is doing to the community but don't take him as a vending machine.

And while you are at it, some atmospheric super parts for the 1/60 VF-11C, a 1/3000 scale transforming Battle 7, a radome for the 1/60 VF-17S and how about a perfect transformation 1/60 VF-5000B?

And all finished and available to buy online before lunch time tomorrow.

    [...]

That's what cross my mind reading some posts here I'll just add "and possibly not to pricey, let's say 50$ the whole lot with stunning details, better than Yamato's :D".

  9. Yamato did do something. They were replacing shoulder hinges for quite some time. Graham at one point had quite a few replacement parts as well.

    Yes you're right, my bad.

I meant a service that lasts longer. Many did not replace their hinges, thinking they were OK nor even heard about the replacement policy.

I missed Graham's last pieces and so far couldn't produce decent ones on my own because of my lack of experience with resin.

I'm glad VF5SS acts as a sustainable alternative.

  10. A re-issue of the Elint v2 would be cool, but honestly, even though I still dont' have one yet, I like that it's rare and would be happy to cough up the $$ to get a rare item. For me personally, it makes it unattractive when there's so many out there and everyone has one :p

What I want more than anything, are 1/48's Elint and Super O. I seriously...SERIOUSLY feel that 1/48 line is NOT complete without those.....I would buy them instantly!!! Maybe doubles!!!

Man, I know it's late and you probably already found out but, here, take this link:

http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=36258 IScustom made a tremendous work to build out a kit that fits 1/48 VF-1x series Valks, transforming them into 1 seated VE-1. You've got to check this since it perfectly meets your expectations (but the price I guess :p )

I heard he is planning on releasing a 1/48 Super Ostrich kit. I wish I had his skills at modeling meshes :hail: .

Shameless plug - there's one on eBay right now.

    http://www.ebay.com/...=item3371893c92

    -b.

This should go to the topic "Auctions of great Absurdity" in my opinion, I mean ok, VE-1 rules with its akward yet unique and pretty style but still I'm far from being sure it' worth 430$ (even converted in € ;) )

To finish with that I have and old VE-1 v1 with the side antennas gone. I'll have them redone one day (maybe not too long), I still love it that way and I don't want to morph it into Gerwalk nor Battroid, I believe its full spirit resides in the aircarft shape because of the radar.

(need those antennas eventually <_< )
