  1. I only owned one, a VF-1S. I still got it, although I had to replace my gunpod, clip and missiles because my mom threw out the Takatoku box where I had all of that stuff stored in. Freaking parents, man...

i actually owned a VF-1A hikky from takatoku too when i was a child, broken it's arm, landing gear spring mechanism, but it's lost when i reached my teens, never knowing its value...

Heh, I think asking that question on this website is a little like asking fish is they swim.

Probably easier to ask who hasn't owned a Takatoku.............LOL!

    Graham

so yes, i'd say i owned a takatoku chunky monkey before. now i've happily replaced it with a bandai reissued VF-1S roy valk although it's not the original takatoku, but somewhat a refreshed version with improvements.

  2. tell me about it. at one time, i REALLY wanted that thing. in fact, the -19kai version was my very first MACROSS toy.

i picked it up for $49.95 at a comic/collector's shop in my hometown of PORTLAND, OR. back around 1997ish.

it was/is a homely bitch, but it was the only variable Valk toy i had, for FAR too long. as such, it got a LOT of love. i even panel-lined the thing, over a decade ago.

it also got PLENTY of wear and tear. to the point, in fact, where just about everything that wasn't ratcheted was loose as all hell, until fairly recently,

when i dismantled the entire beastly old thing, and tightened all those worn old joints with my usual electrician's tape method.

today, with my new Yammie YF-19 1/60v.I handily taking the torch, that fugly old thing is back in it's equally worn box and put away.

i'd offer it for sale for cheap, but i doubt anybody would want such an ugly toy, regardless of how nice-n-TIGHT i managed to make those old joints...

well i'd take it, i dun mind fugliness. i'll treat it as one family as chunkies, it's a worthy "toy". yammies in the other hand are great as model/collectibles.

  3. That's about as slim as you can keep fighter mode and still keep a decent n chunky-ish looking battroid mode. It's still miles slimmer than the Bandai 1/65 DX.

    Graham

The fighter mode is a bit stubbier than the lineart, but honestly not that much. It's mostly due to the legs. Speaking of the legs, one thing that bugs me is that they seem to angle downwards a bit in fighter mode. I hope that's not the case in the final product. Also hope they use a darker grey.

definately better than this by miles as Graham mentioned:

  4. Oh yeah, I'm not sure if this question was already answered, but in Gerwalk mode, the arms are not supposed to extend out and remain as guns right? Is there a reason for this?

i guess cos the vf-17 is the only valk design with guns at the elbows.

but it still can be extended like during the scene where gamlin catches mylene when she dropped from her valk that was crushed by guravil.

  5. Nice, they finally made it so the knife stows away in the tip of the shield. I'm relieved about the pilot.

Seems like Bandai finally decided to go all out with this toy. It even seems to fix things that the VF-27 DX didn't address.

Hopefully it won't turn into a floppy mess over time just from being displayed.

That is WINNING on all fronts.

Holy crap!! That looks awesome!! Now I have to wait for a hopeful re-release since it's sold out everywhere.

    Chris

bandai really made this valk with more heart & brain this time.

  6. I know I'm not the only one, but I seriously can't wait to see the upcoming Blazer.

    you are not.^^

I hope Yamato makes a VF-19F, I like the color scheme better than the 19S. Plus fighter mode isn't so busy with five lasers pointing out of the middle.

i beg to differ, the more (lasers) the merrier.^^
