  1. Are you attending MacrossWorld Con 2016? If you are and you're a collector or modeler, please read on!

I'm charge of the collection display again this year (as well as emcee) and we need your help in making this year's display more amazing than ever! If you have unusual collectibles, completed models or customs, or any items that have come out this past year, please consider offering them for display.

We are all collectors and absolutely respect your valuables. Your items will be arranged for display by you. I will be the only one who may adjust placement to maximize efficiency with spacing. Trusted volunteers and staff members will keep an eye on displays throughout the day until you are ready to take them home so you don't have to worry about anything happening to your items.

Our preference in general is to display toys and figures out of their boxes but even if you do not want to remove your items from their boxes but would still like to display, please still consider participating and let me know!

Last year our focus was vintage. Since then, there has been lots of NEW material thanks to Macross Delta and nods to the past with the Hi-Metal releases and Macross II VFs. So our focus this year will be anything that is new, new, new! Additionally, we especially want to see your completed models, custom builds, dioramas, etc. Of course, the classics and Frontier all have a place as well so whatever you have that is worthy of being viewed by other fans, please consider bringing them and send me a message or email at norgeyip@gmail.com.

A few items are already covered. These are indicated with a strikethrough.

When letting me know about your items, please include a photo and/or a description as follows:
SERIES: (DYRL, Frontier, Delta, Zero, etc.)
ITEM: (Ranka Lee emotion style figure, VF-31J Siegfried completed model, postcards, pencil case, etc.)

  2. Greetings fellow fans.

I hope everyone that attended MW Con 2015 had an amazing time! Thank you to everyone who was had anything to do with making this happen and to everyone who showed up to make this a great con.

At the last minute, I was asked to handle the displays and I hesitantly agreed. Thankfully, a number of people stepped up to help and I'd like to thank them here in no particular order:

    • Eric Gacias aka “Boobyduck” for most of the classic Takatoku and Bandai 1/55 VFs
    • Anibal Delvalle for the wonderful blu-rays and figures.
    • Oliver for the awesome posters, Tenjin drawing, and Hikaru cel.
    • “Kirik” for the incredible helmets and costume.
    • Gabriel Inocencio for the fantastic Frontier toys.
    • Dennis Mah for his absolutely amazing collection of LPs and books.
    • Leen Isabel for the very cool Minmay figure.
    • Jet Tiu for her “award-winning” costumes and Gubaba with Aviators!
    • Leonardo Flores for his masterly detailed completed models.
    • Joey Maldonado for the gorgeous Yamato Destroids and truly vintage DYRL and Flashback vhs tapes.
    • Jasonc for the Hikaru Hollywood Costume Designer uniform.
    • Egan Loo and Gwyn Campbell for bringing Egan’s signed original art sketches.
    • Scott Zillner for the very rare Orguss gliders and Sega cartridge.
    • The gentleman who swooped in on his motorcycle for the Focker Masei helmet and leather jacket.

I helped to fill in the gaps where I could with books, toys, models, costumes, and odds and ends. Thank you, thank you THANK YOU everyone who contributed!!!!

  3. *phew* I haven't spent much time here at all in a while and just made it through the con thread. Thanks everyone for making it such a huge success! A notch or a few notches up from last year? I think it's about a dozen notches beyond! Watching the videos, I see missed out on a whole lot and as sad as I am about that, I still had a blast!

Thanks again to everyone who helped make it possible, staff, fans, vendors, volunteers, cosplayers, performers, judges, collectors, artists, special guests and all!!

  4. Finally logged in after ???? Hadn't worked since before the last con till this last spring. No car, no internet, no money but now working and getting back on my feet again. So very glad this is happening. Circumstances were severely depressing for me last time (and not really work related) and MacrossWorld Con was the best time I had that year. Unfortunately, I will be arriving late. Hope to be able to display at least some of my stuff and have fun with all y'alls.

  5. Macross II just isn't that good. It contradicts the idea of Zentraedi and makes music a bizarre tool, kind of like a bad version of Robotech Masters. I do think the actress playing Sylvie did a good job. But overall, yes, Macross Plus is a good dub. Yan sounds too old and Lucy's voice is annoying. Still, very watchable and a much better mini-series than Macross II.

  6. If I had a venue and all of the contacts, I'd have been willing to spearhead this. So, I'm sad it's not happening but it might not be such a bad thing. Next year is the 30th anniversary so we can try to make it even better for it! More things will be out and maybe we can have an even larger area for displays. Boobytrap (band) was working on a number of Macross songs for this year but I guess it will have to be for next year. So when shall we start planning?

  7. That should be one of the workshops next year: "Sing Macross Songs Like a Manly Man Can" by Operator7G

    /members_videoinfo.php?v=1001

*blush* (there's no blush emoticon!) Thank you guys. I suppose I have to learn a Basara song for next year but I think those songs are all out of my range.

I came across that Les Miserables video a few years ago and LOVED it! I think I may have been the only one in the room who "got it" though. Most didn't pay attention to the screen behind you guys but I think it was great!

  8. Karaoke Contest - We had a good mix of karaoke contestants. We had songs from SDF:M, Macross 7 and of course Frontier...still waiting for someone to do something from Plus.

Thanks for the recap. All the contests were fun and added a lot to the weekend. Thank you everyone who helped put it together and participated!!

Someone did "Voices" during the open mic karaoke portion but not the contest. Maybe I'll have to oblige for next year!

  9. Exactly, being able to see new Mikimoto work on Macross is very exciting, and almost sells itself. The detail in the work is spectacular. I buy the Macross Ace magazine, and this is always the highlight of it.

Reminds me of the old days in the eighties watching anime with NO subtitles, NO script, NO synopsis. Just plain watching what happens. It was enjoyable but finding out things later made us go, "Ohhhhhh!"

  10. Going only by what we see in the OVA, Guld assaulted both Isamu and Myung. Guld displaces himself in his memory and believes Isamu to be the one who attacked the others. Not wanting to confront Guld with the truth, the others never acknowledge what really happened. Firmly believing Isamu to be the villain, it would be difficult to convince Guld otherwise and especially challenging to make him live with that shame. When Guld clearly sees his own memory, he realizes he was the one that assaulted Myung and not Isamu whom he had blamed for so many years. He also realizes that his friends never told him the truth. He then not only has the guilt of what he did to Myung but for destroying the friendship they all had, holding such anger towards each other for many years.

We don't know if Isamu was only comforting Myung but it does not matter. It was enough for Guld to walk in on them to set him off. We do know Myung loves both of them but Isamu more than Guld. Sharon was able to quantify this. Did Guld actually rape Myung? There likely wasn't a rape after the scene that's shown since Isamu was present unless he was knocked out (but perhaps at another time). Did Isamu rape Guld? We may never know. ^_^

Plus came out in 1994. That was over 15 years ago. Holy crap!!

  11. LOL sounds like one time when I was flying out of Tokyo, the xray guy passed my bag through 3 or 4 times, I could see the layers of my Hasegawa and wave kits on the screen intermingled with my clothes etc. I was thinking Oh here we go its gonna be sorry you cant take these kits. He then just looked at me and then shouted "Macross!! Deculture!!" and let me take my bag. I spoke to him when it got quiet and it turns out hes a big Macross fan and wanted to know what kits I had :)

Have fun Guys sorry I cant be there.

Reminds me too when I had jury duty. I discovered one of my fellow jurors was a fan so I brought a Super VF to show off. I was ready to get embarrassed at the x-ray machine but I got a quick pass.
