I got this puppy today and DANG it's sweet. Yes, I've got the disease as I've now got 3 valks (a max 1A, hikaru 1S and the 1J), and this is perhaps the sweetest one of them all! I decided to get just the regular version though to save money and I saw very little difference between the fast packs (I've not seen the show before). Besides, Macross isn't the only robot line I have to worry about

Dang, the review did not give a very favourable view of the Fastpack giftset....makes me wonder if I should spring for it still... That box is nifty though.

I got the game, and being a HUGE Transformers fan (I'm a Macross newbie), I'd say don't waste your money on this. Even to a fan, it really tests my paitience as it's full of cheap hits, enemies who corner you and gang up on you, stiff controls....the works really. It has its fun moments, but you'd be better off with the Macross game. Totally.

I'm a real newbie to Macross, having only seen the DYRL movie and played the Dreamcast Macross M3 game (which sucked) and the new PS2 Macross game (which rocks) and in the PS2 game, I got to see the super and strike packs. What's the REAL difference between the 2 flavours in show? I know the strike pack has that kick ass laser cannon, but aside from that, why would a pilot say, use the Super pack over the strike pack? Also, why is it that I can't use the 'packs on earth missions? Anything to do with the show by any chance? Thanks for your time!

Thanks for the welcoming all! Yes, I already feel the pain 200 bucks (SGD) for each Valkyrie, 80 ish for the fast packs... OUCH! And I've still got the 1J and the new Transformer reissues come december. My poor wallet...

Trust me, having collected Transformers for a few years, few other things are more expensive

I've been looking for a good Macross forum for a while now and I think I've found one! :lol I'm actually a Transformers fan at heart, but I've always appreciated the design of the Valkyrie as it is a classic! Just got me a VF-1A and VF-1S hikaru 1/48 scale valks and fastpacks and they kick so much arse!!! Well, hope to meet and know all of ya better in time to come
