  1. I liked Small Wonder, Harry and the Hendersons, My Secret Identity, Weird Science (the TV show), it was all better than ALF. I mean ALF didnt make any sense, all ALF did was destroy the Tanner`s house, burn down the kitchen, eat all their food, chase their cat and they STILL didnt turn him into the CIA. Why not??? My vote goes to ALF as the worst Sci Fi TV show of all time.

  2. oh really? hmm. Where did you get yours from Million if you don't mind me asking? :) I usualy gett all my stuff (games like MAF and MUF) from Yesasia.com.

Sorry for the late reply Ruskii, I got mine off Yahoo Japan auctions while I was living in Japan. Theres tons of proxy services around online that will shop for you and charge around a 10% commission though. Even including shipping I`m sure you will pay less than what they charge here for PS3. Plus you can watch US/Japan blu-rays on it, including the trial frontier disc.

  3. Latic, so did you download and burn those titles with the custom covers? Do you have a modchipped Saturn or do you play on a PC emulator? If you play on a modchipped Saturn like me WHERE CAN I GET A REPLACEMENT BOOTLEG RAMCART???!!!

  4. Well, I wouldn`t rule the Earth out yet, there is 3-400 years of oil left even without new field discoveries, the air and water keep getting cleaner as technology improves and if we embrace nuclear power then we have a good few 1000s of years to develop nuclear fusion. No point wasting government resources on futile ideas like wind, solar power and planetary emigration in a rush before the technology is even close. Get to nuclear fusion first, then we`ll talk. Maybe even about super long distance space travel.

Also many experts now believe the Earths population will level out and start declining in the next 20 years. This is easy to believe as it is already happening in almost all developed countries and contraception programs in developing countries are starting to take hold already.

  5. I just use medialink and stream it from my laptop. Anything that plays on it will play on my PS3, keeps me from having to convert all my files.

yeah I tried using PS3 media server but even hard networked my low spec laptop had real trouble serving up mkvs smoothly, in face anything 720 and over.

  6. Is there an easy way to convert MKV's (say, those with subtitles...) to MPG? Last time I tried it, it took forever and a lot of work----most programs won't keep the subtitles. But it's been a good number of months since then.

I use mkv2vob and yeah its not that fast but it will hardsub the file from the subtitle file if you select the option. The video and audio is almost identical to the original mkv I think.

  7. How are peoples PS3s bricking? Do you lose power during a save or firmware update? I have unreliable power and its always been a nightmare scenario of mine. damn I hope my PS3 never bricks, now i`ve finally converted all my mkvs and ogms to mpg I use it for everything now.

  8. As far as I`m concerned Shoji Kawamori never took over the franchise and everything ended in Macross II, therefore I have this unknown to me DVD HK bootleg set called `Macross 7` by fx. The video, audio and subtitle quality (no crazy English, good translations) are quite excellent. The TV series, all the OVAs and the movie are included in the set. All DVDs are region free, in mint condition and play perfectly.

I`ll ship the whole set anywhere via registered mail for US$60 gift option (or plus 4%, $63) to my paypal account. If you`re in Australia like me then its US$50 shipped. If you`re in CANBERRA then just gimme an AUD fiddy when we meet up somewhere!

edit: I was originally planning to sell my Fever set aswell but I like the DVDs so I`m not~! Can`t edit the topic title though! Sorry!

  9. I`m sure this has been endlessly speculated about on MW but I wouldn`t be surprised if we saw a Gundam/Z Gundam/Eva style remake movie trilogy of Macross in the next few years for sure. If the animation looked like in Macross Fever it wouldn`t be too bad.

  10. 9.800 Yen is what retailers and vendors like HLJ get, NOT YAMATO.

I believe in Japan most business for Yamato is done through their website now (was harder and harder to find Yamato in retail stores in 2009) in which case Yamato gets the full price. In the case of selling through the retailer, the retailer will take a quite small cut actually.

Selling out of 15000 units happens to every Yamato toy that goes to a second, third or more production runs, and thats quite a few toys.

Once again, yes, Japan is Yamatos primary market of course, so I`m asking does anyone have a link to any Japanese forums where there is reaction to the regult anouncement by Japanese fans? Do they want a cheap toy or are they happy with the premium product?

  11. 30k for molds? The molds for the leg would cost more than 30k, Yamato would be lucky if they got away with something closer to 10x that amount for a single run of something that size and complexity.

uh yeah, 30K PER MOLD, as mentioned earlier in this thread, I never said one mold = one toy. Even allowing for 10 molds per toy (multiple parts per mold) thats only $300K production cost, compared to $2.25 million revenue on a sold out toy (every Yamato that goes to a subsequent production run sells out at full price or close to it in its first production run). Minus overheads I still think theres a very good margin for profit.

  12. Does anyone know of a place online where Japanese fans (Yamato`s primary market) have posted their reactions to the resin Regult? Are they also angry that a mass production toy isn`t being produced or do they just passively accept what they are given? Stereotypically Japanese are passive but recently more and more Japanese are outspoken.

Grahams production numbers are interesting. 15,000 produced times say 13,000 yen average retail price depending on the exact model thats 195 million yen or about US$2.25 million revenue from a sold out toy. Out of that theres all the overheads, retailers cut (no cut if bought through yamato website)..$30K for molds might sound expensive but on a scale where you a producing 15000 toys from one mold its peanuts.

  13. If Hot Toys make a Packy and Bota then I intend to buy them.

    If I had the money:

    2000 Watt hair dryer

    Rolex GMT II Pepsi

w)taps x porter readypack cargo bergen comp

    Blacked out Range Rover

    Blacked out Humvee

Metal Slug 2 for Neo Geo AES

    Eames recliner

    Sony programmable ES remote control

Ricoh GR III (My GR II is good but dying)

    VT-1

    Max 1S

    GBP-1S fitted to a VF-1A CF

    1/60 Regult.

  14. It`s tools down for the Daedalus construction team for now but they`ll be back I know. They`ll go back to their 1/200 kit homes and be with their 1/200 girlfriends and eat 1/200 pine salada...maybe some will get jobs at the MacrossNalds flipping burgers in the iterim. It`s taken this long, whats another year?

  15. I would and have bought a few raws even though my Japanese comprehension is not so great (its weird, I can talk in Japanese with a Jgirl all day long but I can`t catch all the high level vocab in SF anime - guess I should actually study?) but I`m not sure if the average anime fan would be willing to pay Japanese retail price where series box sets still go for between $300 and $1000.
