  1. I'd say yes, to fully appreciate Dark Knight Rises, definitely go see Dark Knight first. In fact, go see Batman Begins if you haven't, to fully appreciate the movie because it makes references to all two prequels.

I was a little disappointed in either the sound mix, or the IMAX sound system here in Sydney which is labelled as the 'biggest IMAX in the world'. I got crisper sound from the speaker system at home watching The Dark Knight; but of course, everything would've been remastered for the Blu-Ray/DVD. It just seemed as though a few juicy pieces lay in the dialogue which is muffled at times (re: Batman and Bale).

I might give it another go in a regular cinema and see how that ends up - if anything, just to experience the film again. It raised some goosebumps in me, that's for sure. :D

  2. The action was definitely good, but I couldn't help getting flashbacks to Rocky IV with the whole evil Russian boxer thing going. Except this one's English, lol. Overall a little too cheesy when it tried to be dramatic but that's not what you watch it for anyway. :p

  3. HLJ sent me a replacement Alto a week or two ago - but it doesn't look like the re-issue. Hands still weren't glued together although the Super pack fitted on fine.

BTW, is it just me or are the backpack/wing boosters really crappy at clipping on at the top i.e. the round stub that looks broken off for some reason. I thought it was actually broken when I got my Michel one, then the Alto Super pack came in and it's the same. O_o

  4. The hell? That's pretty lame... Maybe we can all send our valks back to the shop saying they're defective and missing those holes. :p

On that note, just shipped my VF-25F with the broken hip back to HLJ - I'll either get a refund or a repair. Probably no replacement since the re-stock doesn't arrive till April; but I'll need one since I already put money down for the FAST Pack. =/

  5. MasterOfPuppets: I used alcohol-based markers (Pantone Tria) - some parts I tried with black (the underneath of the backpack/wings) and others with a slightly dark gray. They're pretty thick when applied (especially the black), so I thin them down with the blender markers. Copic markers are probably a good alternative as they're cheaper but give more or less the same results.

I definitely prefer using this method to Gundam markers - even if it's a bit more work with using the blender marker.

  6. Took forever for my package to arrive (3 weeks, longest I've waited for SAL here in Sydney, Australia). Played around with the VF-25F, and the paint has already rubbed off on some parts - particularly on the backpack just behind the head. =/ And on the tampo prints; it's getting pretty annoying but the toy is too fun to put down, haha.

Mine came with a loose joint on the right-side of the crotch (not the hip joint itself). Anybody else encountered this? Also has a slightly loose swivel joint on the left shoulder connecting from the ball-joint on the chest - can't really tackle that one unless I get into the pin there. Dunno how that would work - hopefully those joints don't get looser like they did with my Myth Cloth Pegasus Seiya's feet joints. Those were so loose they were flapping around everywhere.

I wonder if Bandai purposely made it less poseable so people would be inclined to buy Messiah on the VF100 line, haha.

  7. Yeah... I think my order was charged at 1 AUD/63 Yen or something with SAL. Came to a total of AUD 233 or so with another item. Not fun times to be shopping hence I cut my Ozma order; might cut off that SV-51 Nora Yammie too. Even with a sale of 40% it comes back to about full price before the plunge in exchange rate, so it's the same buying it now or when the rate is back up (which won't be for a very long time).

In any event, hope to see it in the mailbox in 2 weeks time.
