If Takara manages to make a Masterpiece Megatron that looks as good in robot mode as Masterpiece Convoy does, I'll be very impressed. Convoy's basic design was a lot easier to make a good-looking robot mode out of than Megatron's. Poor Megatron always did look funky by comparison.

I buy these things because I was never allowed to spend my money on the things I wanted when I was younger. Christmas and birthdays were only two days out of the year. Besides, the technology today blows away most of the toys I had as a kid.. of course they're going to get my money.

My local vendor is selling all the pieces except for the minmay variant colour .  Not sure why is this so, and my local vendor thought there is no variant colour for minmay.  Anyone has an explaination for this ?

Your vendor probably just hasn't seen the Minmay variant yet. She comes in a normal-colored version and a second version in which she is painted in lighter colors. Apparently, the lighter colors are to emulate one of Haruhiko Mikimoto's painted illustrations of Minmay in that scene.

I'm pretty sure that the Hikaru cockpit diorama is still the "rare" figure though.

The hardest truth is the one staring you back in the mirror, folks. If you think someone else is ruining your kid that is because you are letting them raise your kid instead of you. Don't turn off the TV or video game, sit and watch with your children as my father did with me and educate them as to why things happen the way they do. Sheltered children go on to become the worst people on the planet as they have experienced little, know even less and are ill prepared to deal with things in the real world. Children raised by the TV tend to be cynnical and violent, not knowing the true reasons for the violence they just pantomime it rather than understanding it. Truly "raised" children, no matter how "smart", can and will understand the guidence of parents on matters like violence, right and wrong, sexuality and morality no matter how much "fantasy violence" TV they watch.

Maybe I'm going to see a lot of repeats, but I'm just curious. There seem to be a lot of customs flying around in here lately, and I'm wondering what kinds of custom work you want to do on your Macross/anime toys.

What do you want to customize for yourself?

Its not the broad-stroke story that is lame, its the show... I guess the story could have come off good if there were no fruity-buttplug sissy monsters or Elton John wannabe assmaster Basara singing like a pride parade assless chap model. THOSE things are what make M7 fit for me to piss on.

All of that aside, I'm kinda bummed if it is in fact the same footage. I was hoping for an OVA with state-of-the-art animation, according to the site's description of it. But if it isn't...

.. I guess some of us will keep hoping for a remake.

OVA is a condensed form of the original story that may or may not occur within the series continuity. The fact that this is identified as an OVA means that it is in fact not the original SDF Macross as seen on TV, but instead a re-telling.

State-of-the-art visuals indicates completely new material. Not remastered original animation.

Then again, it's possible that I'm mistaken. In which case I will gladly defer. No need to make with the comments.

It's not a bootleg. It's an officially licensed product, Region 2. CDJapan sells only licensed products. It's also not the old SDF Macross series on DVD, it's an OVA version with new animation.

I do own the AnimEigo SDF Macross series.

Anyone? Any reviews or information?

I stumbled upon this the other day while poking around on cdjapan.co.jp. Can any of you shed some light on it? Is it worth trying to find?
