  1. Jesus Christ!!!

Those Parks sabres are awesome, but his entire busniess is devoted to...

    Jesus Christ!!!

Anybody know of any Zen Buddhists (or any other non-violent religions) who make as nice lightsabres as those?

(Rain sits back and awaits the inevitable firestorm, censorship and other stuff the often comes a flyin' when this thing happens.)

    Peace.

Meh. You don't have to like Christianity to buy cool lightsabers.

  2. I voted for Hi-Detail. But I'm with ewilen on this one. I'm a lazy ass. I probably wouldn't buy it because I don't want to replace and repaint any parts. But that's not to say this isn't a great idea.. because it is. Something cool for the toy people. :)

  3. call it what you will but paying retail sucks.

i was trying to open a wholesale account with HLJ to do the same thing for macross toys but people here are far too untrusting.

if i got like 8 people buying every new yamato release as well as anything else their heart desires, we'd all be saving mad loot. the HLJ wholesale price is about 40% less their retail price...plus shipping from HLK of course but we still would've saved grip. the 1/48 would've been like $60-$70 each but hey, i tried, no one wanted in.

    Their loss. <_<

  4. How sturdy are those things anyways? I want the Vader saber. $119 is a bit much though.

I've never owned one of the Master Replicas lightsabers, so I can't speak for those. I only own a Parks. It's solid. If you think $119 is a bit much, then you might want to pass on a Parks. Those run $250 and up. Excellent, excellent stuff though. Absolutely worth every penny. :)

  5. i'm looking to get luke LS from ESB or vader, maybe maul, AHHHHHHH!    :D

Luke or Vader's sabers will run you around $265, shipping and batteries are included in the price. When I asked about the Maul, he quoted me at $550.. being that it's two sabers in one. So be prepared to pay quite a bit more for it. B))

  6. do these replicas come with a vibrating motor so the sw geeks don't have to humm when they swing those around?

As far as Parks Sabers are concerned, I'm sure Jeff is working on incorporating sound into his sabers at some point. For the time being, I think the sheer quality of the product and the removable blade more than compensate for the lack of audio effects. :)

  7. Although I like SW and Light Sabers, I've always thought that the Light Saber hilts (handles) would be ridiculously uncomfortable to wield in a sword fight, covered as they are with all those knobs, ridges and protrusions.

Yeah, totally. Mine is a replica of Skywalker's lightsaber from ANH, and it can be tricky to get a grip on. I guess that's why the prequel lightsabers are a lot smoother and sleeker by comparison.. not as many protrusions. Well, that and a vastly bigger budget.

  8. How 'rich' are the colors on Parks' sabers? I have a MR Luke ROTJ one and my biggest complaint is that the green is not nearly as dark as the greens in the pictures. How are the parks ones?

When you contact Jeff for your piece, ask him about his dual-cell models. He may be able to build you one using "The Deuce." Those run on two 9-volts instead of just one, which according to Jeff results in 35% increased brightness over single-cell models. Only certain designs will accommodate the dual-cell, however. And like Marimba just said, the blue-green is the brightest. Next brightest is the green.. I think. :)

  9. theres these other dudes at buystarwarsstuff.com that make some cool ones too.  not movie accurate but they're still pretty bad arse.

Jeff can't list any film-accurate designs on his site, but that doesn't stop him from making one for you if you call and ask. ;)

I did. Mine is Skywalker's lightsaber from A New Hope. It has a removable light-up electroluminescent blade, which means it can be used for display or just to mess around with. B))

  10. a little while back someone posted pics and link to some dude that made some super fresh dope custom light sabers.

i tried the search function using "light saber" but every single topic on SW, someone posted something about light sabers.  :p

    your help would be appreciated

    thanks! :)

That might've been me, being that I'd recently received one of those "super fresh dope custom lightsabers".

And let me assure you, they are.

(The dude's name is Jeff Parks. Absolutely top-notch stuff.)

Give me a yell if you have any questions. :)

  11. Guys, don't buy HK boots. The quality sucks and at 30 bucks a pop, its not worth it. If you have a DVD burner, head over to this thread at OriginalTrilogy.com and get the TR47 set, or the new anamorphic set for the price of a DVDR.

Don't support the darkside and buy bootlegs, burn your own.  B))

How is the quality on these?

I've owned three Hong Kong rips of the Star Wars OT sourced from the same Star Wars Definitive Collection that was used to master the TR47 set. I recently received one of TR47's Star Wars OT DVD sets, and it is noticeably better than the HK sets in both quality and content. The video is sharp and clear, without that "softness" that I noticed in the HK sets. Audio is significantly better. Any imperfections are likely due to the limitations of the source material.. these are laserdisc rips, after all. Still, TR47 has provided an excellent product. The time and care that he put into these discs is obvious, unlike the fast and dirty compression methods used by the HK makers of these sets. Included are the three movie discs, a fourth supplemental disc, and a CD-ROM containing artwork files for DVD case art, inserts and disc labels. For those who want more content, TR47 offers three more DVDs containing even more extras like documentaries, commercials, trailers, screen tests, TV episodes and a parody of COPS. The price is very reasonable. No, this set is not as good as an official DVD release (which apparently we're not going to see, either, since Lucas has supposedly burned all original prints of the OT), but it's certainly better than what most of us have sitting around on VHS. For the time being, TR47's set appears to be the best that fans of the original trilogy are going to get. :)

Here's a more detailed review of the TR47 Star Wars Original Trilogy DVD set.

  12. Normally I don't bother with ebay/half.com stuff, but for this guy I make a definite exception. Order a book from giantbookstore Friday night and it gets here Monday morning, and the people are in HK. Definitely would do business with them again (not to mention the book was less than half they charged in the bookstore).

Is this "giantbookstore" a MacrossWorld member?

  13. ( Robotech.com forum is running very slow, anyone got the same problem here?)

I posted my Alpha review there a few days ago, and it made me remember why I never go there anymore. Case in point, I needed to edit a post I wrote and I couldn't, because they have a 10-minute timeframe in which you can edit your posts. I spent it waiting for friggin' pages to load.

    It's ALWAYS slow.

  14. Ouch. If that Garland takes a direct hit to the chest, the pilot's looking at having both of his legs busted.. at the very least. I'll leave the rest of you to consider the other possibilities.
