  1. Looks like FMA:B is going to get a movie as well.

Just finished marathon'ing through Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex. A series I'll always enjoy watching from time to time. If Production IG ever decides to create another series or set of episodes, I'll welcome it.

I'm not too enthusiastic with this season's lineup, though I am looking forward to Black Rock Shooter and a couple of other OVAs.

Watching Ookami-san and the Seven Companions currently. It's about a school club running a "bank" and it follows a Taiga-lookalike and a guy who can't stand being looked at. I half-expected the famous tsundere VA to reprise her role again :p

Another interesting tidbit is that May'n is singing the opening theme :o

From what I've read it's basically Fanservice of the Dead.

Well, the original creator is a hentai artist.

  2. I guess everyone's mostly May'n/Megumi fans because it hasn't been mentioned before, but in Konishi's panel (only panel I went to yay! XD), he talked about how he really wanted Ozma to live, and bugged and asked the producers (I think?) to even change the title of the episode so that he could have better chances of living. Everybody was like, 'awwwww'

    /salute

  3. For a graphics program, you may want to consider Paint Tool Sai too. It's a lightweight and versatile program and it's certainly cheaper than Photoshop (and probably more robust than GIMP but I don't know that myself). There is a 30-day trial available on the site too, so check that out.

It's great to see you trying to nurture your brother's talents. I'm trying to do the same for my brother too.

You can't really make someone sit down and force them to play the piano, but if you expose them to different music, they'll gravitate towards what comes naturally for them.

Something that most older Asian parents probably will never understand...

  4. Indeed, lucky you :).

Just out of curiosity, did anyone ask Nakajima about her Vocaloid work? I always wondered if she felt proud about taking part in the "virtual idol" sensation or whether she ever felt that she needs to compete against her "virtual self"...

  5. The other problem was people kept asking the most inane questions of May'n like would she like to pilot the VF-25 or more detailed questions regarding plot points of particular episodes, which she is really unlikely to really have any insight into given she only sang the songs and didn't provide the regular voice acting. One question from some older woman from Germany even started out with an insinuation that she lied about her age or something before rambling into something about her debut performance.

From what I hear and seen, that stuff is always prevalent in these Seiyuu/Singer focus panels. In a sea of silly questions, there are a few pertinent questions that do get asked just like the one you pointed out.

Just remembered a good question about her stage name and whether her career would have been the same with or without Sheryl. She said that she changed her stage name to May'n to allow her to evoke the strong character of Sheryl and that now she will always perform with that strength and carry a part of Sheryl in all her future songs.

That deserves some round of applause.

  6. Have fun Jasonc. :)

Yeah, that would make for some horrid regular shots. Though some newer one's handle it better (I can stomach 800 on my Dad's d60). Hopefully nothing ruined. Were you actually able to get any in concert shots?

They weren't too bad once I shrink the images, just a few pictures of cosplayers and a picture Yuu Asakawa. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the concert, I was warned beforehand and I didn't really want to risk getting kicked out of this awesome event. =\

  7. Hmm, I'm not sure on that one. Didnt see anyone so it probably wasn't.

I saw some people upstairs and on one of the balconies. Seems like they're reserved for staff and agents probably.

If it's a digital camera, you mean noise, which is much more annoying that grain. How locked down was recording devices anyway?

    ...

I've calmed down considerably over the last few hours, but I'm not sure I'll ever not be peeved at missing this sucker. I guess I can say I was there in spirit at least.

Who knows, maybe you'll get another chance somehow, somewhere.

As for the digital camera, yes, I mean noise (sorry). I accidentally left the camera's ISO setting at 1600 instead of default auto or lower. :(

  8. Lamenting to myself: There's grain in all my pictures :(. I forgot to change back the settings on my camera after I was messing with it before the concert :(.

No I didn't. You're just the first to report them.

    Ah, okay.

Yeah, it was an awesome experience, though definitely tamer than anything I expect this was. I was so glad i used the event ticket for priority seating they gave out back then for it. Being able to actually see her made up for the lack of staging. The Kotoko concert that year being more enjoyable from further away.

The Sakamoto concert probably would've been more grand if she had more time, I remember that she barely arrived a couple days before the concert or something like that. Pretty neat that you got close seating.

As for the Kotoko concert, you didn't want to get involved in that mosh-pit forming in the front huh? :)

  9. I got there at 7:30AM and waited till they opened the registration booths, I didn't even wait 3 hours to get my badge and "ticket" despite technical troubles. Though I did wish they tell me that I need to redeem the real ticket at another booth with my "ticket" (had to run back and forth through a crowd :().

Compared to some years back (in Anaheim), there seems to be less people, nevertheless still a formidable crowd once noon passed. ALOT of excellent cosplayers this time around! Prices in the exhibit hall weren't as compelling as before, but alright. The convention probably handled most of the events better than before. This year marks my first return to AX after five years and it's probably the best year I ever had, although it was only one day...

I saw some concert-goers that I thought were MacrossWorld members, but I was too afraid to ask :(

    I wish I could've met you guys.

Concert was incredible, having Yoko Kanno on the piano was just pure bliss. Also, maybe it's just me, but Nakajima sounds alot more "cuter" than before. Also, I'm ashamed to admit this but I laughed a bit when someone blew into their vuvuela a couple of times during the applauses.

Good to hear. ANN updated their post a bit. Forgot to add Ninjin loves you Yeah, and Voices (which I'm guessing was killer).

You forgot Sunshine Girl, Blue Ether, Anata no Oto, and Sou da yo (the Frontier movie song). That should be all the songs.

The opening songs are called Triangular, and Lion. Though the actual opening version of the song was done by Maaya Sakamoto (whom i saw perform at AX05).

Would've loved to have seen Voices. Is there an album recording of Megumi doing it or is this a live thing only?

I saw the Sakamoto concert too :)

There is a recording of a Nakajima version of Voices. However, the concert version had Yoko Kanno accompanying Nakajima on the piano (which is pieced together with Aimo) :).

  10. Went to pick up my badge today at LACC, and decided to come back again and try tomorrow. The Line for badge pickup was OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!! I mean, we're talking about a line that would make the Iphone and Dragon Quest lines cry!!

    Unbelievable.

You should've stayed and toughed it out, the next day will be just as bad unless you get there super early in the morning.

I'm hoping Friday won't be as bad...

  11. Angel Beats disappoints, it looks great and has an interesting mystery, but the pacing is poor, has zero emotional impact for a KEY production and the jokes are often too lame.

I have to say that Angel Beats probably would have benefited from having more episodes. I liked it overall, best thing about it was probably Otanashi's story.

Is God some evil smiley guy who barters stuff with humans via alchemy? :/ This whole "truth" bartered for "human transmutation" business makes my head spin.

Isn't "God" pretty much the embodiment of the "All is one, one is all" idea? He/she is one entity yet is everything of the world.

I also remembered an episode where they explained that Alchemy was brought to them by a foreign man which i presumed was the globe-wandering-Hohenheim. So unless i'm wrong, Hohenheim should be a master of Eastern Alchemy too?

Didn't quite get that either, maybe he left soon after and Eastern Alchemy evolved on its own?

and oh in other news, finally finished bakemonogatari and working.

Since webisode 15 was the final episode; even with wild Shinobu appearing, I'm kinda disappointed. I really wanted to see the Spring Break arc when Arararagi turned into a vampire. :(

  12. Take a gander at

    .

They explained that he "likes to sneak into his chambers and wear his helmet". Though I don't really hold much weight since I stopped following MK after Trilogy.

But my god, that is the worst swagger I ever seen... and that floating helmet... I can understand that the game was Midway's first foray into 3D animation, but wow.

  13. It's nice to see Reiku in his alter ego in this game.

Anyone who's beaten Reiku's Story Mode in Mortal Kombat IV would know that he is Shao Khan.

    .

I went to look that up, it seems it's been debunked multiple times.

Then the third game came out with robots and cyborgs and everyone wearing spandex and sci-fi clothes and it just lost all that kung-fu movie vibe.

Sci-fi clothes? Minus Kabal and the cyborgs, they don't look sci-fi to me.

  14. I'm so glad there will be one more "winding down" episode after that fantastic 2nd last episode. :D

Still abit confused with all this east and west alchemy thing and its still kinda mysterious what this "God" thing is. XD

I feel the same way too. I wish more anime include some sort of "epilogue" episode.

As for the difference in alchemy, I guess you can liken 'em to the mystical vs the scientific. From what I remember from the series and the wiki, Eastern alchemy harnesses "chi" energy that flows all over the Earth (they likened it to veins and blood vessels) while Western alchemy uses energy from tectonic shifts... and souls.

As for "God", didn't he/she summed it up right there in that episode? :p

  15. Nice... Can we have a clean version to download? Thank you.

    I can provide that~

Although it's gonna be a huge 5000x2508 image.

    http://moe.imouto.org/post/show/38158

iqdb.org is very useful for looking up an anime-related image source, like someone's wallpaper :). Just be wary that you may have to wade through NSFW images since it cross-references Danbooru, Gelbooru, Sankaku Channel, etc.

  16. Which of course, is sold out nearly everywhere and everywhere else that has her charges for her exorbitantly.

Not to mention things at Ami Ami sell out pretty damn quickly if you don't pre-order. Also, the nendoroids seem alot more popular than the figmas. At least, I got the keychains.

  17. I'm surprised they didn't edit or ban the movie outright in China :p

On a more serious note, if they had to pick an "alternate" East Asian setting for this remake I would have picked South Korea, where instead of Karate, Kung-Fu, MMA, etc, ... our American hero learns to play Starcraft like a pro.

    You must construct additional pylons.

Okay, I did laugh at this.

  18. Waiting in the sun will probably be Exhibit Hall/Registration, which are both (among other things) in South Hall Lobby......sadpanda this year ToT. I've heard the lines aren't nearly as bad after Day 0 and Day 1, so you should be ok shiroikaze, but you're only going one day? Aww =(

Yeah, independence and whatnot are kinda difficult to obtain in this household. But anyway, that's good know. Hopefully, that leaves me more time to explore. :)

    Some bad news...

Man, that's some bad timing. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
