  1. Our collection of Nerf guns :)

We had a big battle at the house over the weekend after my son's birthday party; five kids and three grown men running around like idiots. One team held the kitchen and the other team held the bedrooms. These have to be the funnest toys ever made :)

  2. Wow, lots of nice collections here. I don't have much but I thought I'd share.

    ken

Interesting... I have never seen this second record before. Is it called Macross Synthesizer Fantasy II or Macross II Synthesizer Fantasy? Does it also says "Mingmay's Songs"? I also did not find either listing on the Macross Compendium. Very interesting.

  3. Thanks...I have acquired them from various conventions, ebay, fellow collectors, and yahoo japan...

The Hikaru/Misa is from this furoku:

It is hard to tell from the book pic, but I believe it is sort of a mixed-media type graphic (based on looking at the actual cover which I happen to own)...with the main characters being cel-drawn and the veil, tiarra, necklace being layered onto it....it is a nice effect

Cool! That is an awesome find! Its called a hanken cel when its not used in animation but rather used in promotion or licensing :)

  4. Thing is... I bet you eleventy dollars that he would've said COOOLLL about a Republic Shuttle that was just a really nice accurate toy with no extra gimmickry. I think toy companies are trying too hard.

I'll bet you don't have kids. I showed him the shuttle and then I showed him that it turns into a playset. What he said was "COOOOL!" at the playset, not the shuttle.

  5. More Macross erasers!

To give you a background on eraser toys, if you don't already know, three toy companies made eraser toys for Macross (this is vintage toys, not including modern toys which Bandai released in 2002): Seika Note, Ohsato, and Takatoku. Ohsato eraser toys are the most prolific, having at least 17 different releases. Takatoku eraser toys are more challenging to find and only came in five releases. Seika Note eraser toys are really hard to find and were only released in small bagged versions as far as I've been able to find. Takatoku and Ohsato mostly released eraser toys in three sizes; large, medium, and small. Seika Note only released medium sized toys. At first glance they would appear to be from the same molds, but upon closer examination, they are obviously totally different sculpts. I always meant to sit down and document the differences (for people trying to identify loose ones) but its a really daunting task.

Okay, first pic. From top left to right:

    eraser1.jpg

    1. Ohsato Special 1 - Macro Dagurasu & Battroid Set SDF-1, Glaug, Regult, Tomahawk, Defender, VF1J Battroid, Armored Battroid. This set comes with a lot of eraser toys. Its also the only place you can get the large eraser SDF-1. The box is a bit beat up, but the eraser toys have only been taken out once.

    2. Ohsato carded VF-1J and Regult. These carded eraser are pretty rare. I have seen at least 2 others, not pictured here, but they were not for sale. These have one large eraser toy and one medium eraser toy.

    3. Ohsato carded VF-1J Armoured Battroid and VF-1J. Similar to above.

    4. Ohsato Gattai Robo Series Pt. 1 - Battroid Set -Battroid VF1J, Armored VF1J, Tomahawk, Defender. Has the same 4 large toys as the Macro Dagurasu set, but different colors and different box. Box is a bit beat up, but the toys have only been removed once.

    Bottom left to right:

    5. Takatoku Macross Vending Machine DX - VF1J Battroid, Regult, Spartan, 12 various 1/320 capsule eraser toys. These are fairly common and this one isn’t in the greatest condition. The box is pretty worn, but everything inside is good. If you collect eraser toys, these came with random toys in each box, so you might have to collect a few sets to get them all.

    6. Takatoku Macross Variety Bag Spartan & Defender. This is a really rare set of eraser toys. No one knew about its existence until about 3 years ago when a couple showed up on YJA. Its not a "bag" as indicated, but rather a box of eraser toys. It has two large toys and a bunch of medium toys.

    7. Takatoku Macross Robo Case rubber toys - 1/160 VF1J Battroid, 1/160 Regult, 1/320 Spartan, Small erasers: Valkyrie Fighter, Regult (2), Tomahawk, Armored Battroid VF1J, Glaug, Monster (2), Defender, Fighter Pod, VF1J Battroid. These are kinda common, though most people don’t realize that there are actually 3 different Robo case sizes. This is the medium sized canister and most common. The smallest sized case is the hardest to find.

    8. Ohsato carded VF-1J Battroid and Tomahawk. This one is a bit different from the other carded ones in that it features two large toys.

    eraser2.jpg

    Top left to right:

    1. Ohsato Gattai Robo Pura No. 1 - VF-1J, No.2 - Armored Battroid, No. 3 – Glaug, No. 4 – Tomahawk. This is a full set. These are jointed and articulated large sized eraser toys. They are pretty funky looking when assembled, but that makes them cool. They come unassembled. The Glaug and Tomahawk are very rare.

    2. 2 Ohsato Special Box sets ("Korekushon Keshigomu"). These are small boxes that have 5 or 6 random small eraser toys in them. These eraser toys are common loose, but more rare in the box.

    3. Ohsato Collectible Eraser envelopes box. This is the box only. I found it at Kimono My house in California a while back. The toys were all sold out of it, but the box was cool and I figured I would eventually find the envelope toys by themselves, but never did.

    Bottom left to right:

    4. Seika Note bagged small eraser toys, Monster, Glaug, Spartan, VF1J Battroid, SDF-1, Defender. These are pretty rare in my opinion. While easily confused with the Ohsato releases to the right, the Seika Note eraser toys are distinctly different with their brighter colors and individually labeled baggies complete with box art for each mecha.

    5. Collectible Erasers set ("Korekushon Keshigomu") VF1J Battroid, Armored Battroid, Glaug, Regult, Spartan, Tomahawk, SDF-1, Defender. These are fairly common as far as eraser toys. There are two different baggy labels (yellow and blue). The toys come in a variety of colors and I was looking at collecting one of each color and label (I know, I’m obsessed). The box (to the right) is in good condition.

  6. Awesome!

Here are my super-sized Macross cards next to my regular sized trading cards :)

Having the original box is awesome JV! Maybe someone can translate the box cover? It seems to indicate there are "3 somethings, 1 something, and 4 somethings!"... I see 3 giant cards and 4 smaller cards in your pics, but maybe 1 card is missing?

    ohsatolargecard.jpg

  7. The toy industry is rife with this sort of marketing-droid thought process. As a Lego fan, I find it especially irritating because many sets are crapped up with action play gimmicky shooters or flip-change functions instead of actual Lego bricks.

It actually kind of makes me yearn for the days when the spring-loaded shooters were illegal and they focused more on the toys just being cool designs. :(

Well, in the end, its the kids they make these toys for. Case in point: I just showed my 7 year old son the Republic attack shuttle playset pics from Toyfair and he said "COOOOL!"

    What can you do? :)

  8. Well, grabbed the Y-Wing today for only $20 because the boxed was damaged. Couldn't pass it up. Think I'll check to see if the ARC was still in the clearance aisle and grab that, too!!

In the meantime, while sick and out-of-work, I had some figure issues.....looks like I got to get my son more bad guys!

Awesome. I need to show this to my wife. That way I can tell her, "At least I don't buy as many as that kid's dad". Then maybe she will get off my back. ;)

  9. I can take a look when I get out perusing. I don't even look at them, so I'll have to pay more attention.

    Also....

New pic for the Republic Attack Ship and it's playset conversion, which I'm not sure how I feel about yet:

    Someone translated the text as:

"Spaceship and Playset in one: Republic attack ship transforms in a jiffy in front orbital gliders into a ground station. With light and sound effects and an exclusive Speilgs"...which makes me think it may be an exclusive in the States, too.

On a side note: I've seen some 'clearance' CW Y-Wings and ARC-170s around, but would only get one. Leaning towards the Y-wing for my son....yeah, that's it....my son. B)) Seems more meatier with less moving parts. Thoughts?

Uck.. Ground station? I'm not a big fan of Hasbro's added features and we buy the toys anyway, but this one just seems to take it a bit far. I suppose they play test this stuff with kids and some study told them that toys with secondary play value must be more appealing or something. I think the ROTJ vintage shuttle is an amazing toy and it has no added features. Personally I just don't get it, but thats because I'm not 8, I guess :)

I bought both the ARC 170 and Y-wing for my 7 year old. He doesn't play with either because they are too heavy and wieldy, especially the Y-wing :( I personally love both of them. The ARC 170 is a "meaty" fighter and the toy really captures the brutish and "bristly" look of the design. It displays well. The Y-wing toy is sleak and flat and doesnt display as well on a shelf, but the sculpt is almost spot-on. Its also cool because its a hero vehicle and has more screen time. As far as play-ability, the ARC 170 comes with a handle which makes it easier to hold.

  10. hello, i'm looking for a this little catalog that, judging from this old pic i found,

was included with the old 1986 1/72 BANDAI HCM VF-1J.

    it is the "MECHANIC COLLECTION NOTE" booklet seen here;

    HCMVF-1J11.jpg

that silly little thing is evidently all i need to complete my otherwise perfect HCM VF-1J...

The HCM didn't come with this catalog :) That Mechanic Collection Note also says Takatoku on it. It wasn't included with the HCM which is a Bandai release. Someone inadvertantly added it to the toy pictured. Your HCM VF1J is complete ;)

  11. To be fair, he has a 1/72 Tread in his pic, he just doesn't have a boxed version of it but I think when you own a toy that rare tracking down the box isn't a huge priority.

So true. A boxed TREAD is rare indeed. There are maybe 3 or 4 known boxed TREADs. By the number of known boxed versions, you might generously guess that there are 4 times that amount in existence. That would be maybe a dozen boxed Legioss/TREAD's left in the world?

The TREAD is techincally a European Lansay release anyway, and for sanity's sake, I don't collect Lansay box variations, Just N.A. and Japan :)

  12. OMFG!!

    That is a Collection!!

    Wonderful!! So beautiful!!

    Only 8 missing?

    What are they?

    Real good job, man!

    Thanks!

I still need the three Japanese 1/35 variable Legioss toys, Japanese 1/20 variable Ride Armor Stick and Bartley, Henshin Robo 1/35 variable Legioss 01H, and the Henshin Robo 1/55 variable (3-mode) 01I and 01Z.

There is also a boxed 1/72 variable Legioss, but I am not sure if it is a regular release or just a European release, so I don't count that one yet :)

  13. I added some toys this year to my Gakken Mospeada collection so check out my newest pic!

My goal of collecting every box variation is getting close. I need only 8 more to complete the collection :)

If anyone has any Gakken toys for sale, hit me up, I might need your box ;)

  14. Liam Neeson to return to voice Qui-Gon Jin in the Clone Wars:

    http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/01/20/liam-neeson-star-wars-clone-wars-exclusive/

Awesome. I heard a rumor that Liam Neeson recorded dialogue for Episode 2 where his ghost appeared to Anakin. Not sure if it was true or not, but it would be cool if he appeared this way to Anakin and also appeared to Yoda to show him how to turn in to a spirit (as mentioned in Episode 3).

  15. Oh man, I gotta get us one of the Obi-Wans and a Barris Offee. Very cool. I can't wait for the new Asoka and Anakin figs.

Is anyone else sick of repaints yet?. It seems like almost every wave has a new one and I'm a little worried that Hasbro is inundating the line with too many of them. After our first 30 Ep 2 troopers, I just don't see us buying any more. I suppose they are going to switch to Ep 3 troopers soon, but I don't imagine buying many of those.

  16. Loved the episode! Easily one of my top five favorite episodes ever.

One thing kept bothering me about the Night Sister warriors while I was watching it and I couldn't put my finger on it. Then it occured to me that I had see them before:

    4615759170_2f006a7ac1.jpg

I wouldn't say its a direct rip-off, but the similarities to Zealot from Wildcats is very striking.

  17. Oh, I'm sure they'll come out with a battle-pack or carded versions. Especially with new info being tossed around of two new Two-Packs for early next year:

1 x Clone Wars ARF & Clone Trooper "Waxer" (31679)

1 x Clone Wars Special Ops Troopers* (31680)

I just saw a mini rig pack with an AT-RT and ARF with Geonosis (Landing at Point Rain) camo (yellow, pink, and red) at Wal-Mart. Pretty cool. My son was really excited.

Is this what you are talking about or will there be other two-packs?

  18. My local Star Wars toy supplier (Freeway Toys), just got in part of the new wave of Clone Wars Figures yesterday. IIRC, they had:-

    CW30 R4-P17

    CW31 Shaak Ti

    CW32 (young) Boba Fett

    CW34 Undead Geonosian

    CW35 Clone Trooper Draa

    CW37 Quinlan Vos

    CW38 Cato Parasitti

I picked up Clone Trooper Draa and the Undead Geonosian, which is actually a very cool figure.

Not much interest in the others.

    Graham

Why they are releasing an undead Geonosian, but not a regular one is beyond me. I would buy a battlepack with 4 or five Geonosians and Pogal in a heartbeat.

  19. Working on some custom CW Battle Cards, so me and the kids can use older characters when playing. Finding some cool pics and then just customizing the numbers. Now just have to print and maybe laminate.

GHA NACKT and MATCHSTICK are complete, but the others still need to be touched-up and have their attributes and bonuses adjusted. Let me know what you think. If anyone's interested in printing for themselves, I can send the .PSD files or higher-res JPGs. PM me.....

This is awesome! I have been looking for someone to post these so my son and I can play. Like Graham said, its ridiculous to re-buy 40 figures just to get these cards. Honestly, Hasbro should be doing this (posting them online) instead of expecting us to spend hundreds of dollars.

Are you going to post scans of the official cards too? I have the cards for Pre Visla, Grievous, and Aura Sing and I can post those if we want to start sharing...
