Plus Sunstorm, who actually got a comic first, THEN toy repaints. (actually, Sunstorm wasn't bad as a character---just his scheme sucked, and it translated even worse to toys)

PS---color errors in the cartoon don't count either.

the reason i'm not going to watch it is i have read this thread, i have read both sides of the argument and the picture they paint of nekki, is a character i'm not intrested in, nor would i like.

well i guess i'm from the other camp,, you know the side that hated what moore did to the franchise. i honestly wished for 95% of the chatacters to die in a fire.( not bill adama, he was the man.) i don't want a movie tying into moores vision, but also i remember what singer did with superman, and how he basicly saddled us with Ratner on xmen, so slightly worried about what he'd do.

Personally, while they did play up the Sheryl/Alto side to near plausible conclusions, Alto's character just dictated an inconclusive ending, and I was pretty certain it was going to be either Sheryl or no one at the end barring some huge development with Ranka. He felt strictly platonic to me.

okay, i've heard cloning being banded around in relation to macross and eventually how it was banned.

can some one elaborate on what this cloning entailed?

by this i mean are we talking..

full clones?

artificial created from a dna mix humans?

were they:

grown to adult hood and educated?

or allowed a normal growth/maturation?

Why exactly did they stop/When did they stop?

how wide spread was it?

i've been in the mood for some serious reading and i noticed something.

i can't find much in the way of decent length Macross based fanfiction. heck finding Robotech based fanfiction is only marginally better.

just what am i doing wrong? are my search skills so poor, or is macross fanfiction really that thin on the ground?

not to mention that many of the fans on this forum think that the VF-4 is the the hottest valk ever!

i have yet to see flashback 2012 but i too find the vf-4 to be my favorite valk (the vf19 comes next)

way i understand it friedman's to blame.

the premise as the name was the sarah conner chronicles, but viewers were more interested in john and cameron.

friedman was basicly put out and started to force the focus back on sarah, dispite the execs and fans not wanting that.

so after eventually bleeding out 5/6th of it's audience the execs gave it the boot.

I agree 100%. if he acted all serious, it wouldn't be like Kirk at all. I think he (Pike's Kirk) had no illusions of not being discovered that he re-wrote the program. he wanted to be caught. he didn't believe in a test that can't be won. and in that way, he wanted to stick it to THE MAN (who in this case just happened to be Spock). and the way he acted, coupled with the way the simulation bridge reacted to his smugness, worked out as a wonderful scene in the movie, IMO.

that being said, i F***@N loved this movie!!! and i can't wait to watch it again.

i remember back on mvolks board when they were starting out it was about the hobby and making stuff better. what we got was hiked up priced limited runs well over a year of waiting before they released their first bodies, and then it became more about the licences than developing their own brand.

Even sadder when Eric Siebenaler unveiled some of his original design sketches, showing the walking tank mode...for an ultra sized Galvatron, which was later abandoned when Galvatron was switched to a deluxe.

Had it been an ultra like originally planned, I have a feeling that the transformation wouldn't have been a PITA, and that the robot mode would look a TON better.
