Umm... Cos that was the only drill bit I had handy at the time :lol:

Actually, it's cos a 3mm hole would just plain be too tight to push the ball-joint pins into. This way, the hole is just a hair's breath larger than the pins, and the extra slack can easily be made-up with a bit of CA glue.

The reason it's such an odd size is that it's probably a bit in an imperial measurement. I simply converted it over to metric for ease of use.

What was the standard size, if you recall? In my experience, it is easier to find standard drill bits instead of oddball metric sizes. I've been looking for a 5.125mm drill bit for heaven knows how long.
