  2. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the latest film in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter universe, taking place over 70 years before Harry Potter and the Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone. Directed by David Yates (Harry Potter 5-8, The Legend of Tarzan) and marking Rowling's screenwriting debut, the film stars Eddie Redmayne (Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, Balem in Jupiter Ascending) as the wizard Newt Scamander. The film opens today, and it's already received good reviews. Four more sequels are already in the works.   3. Ready Player One is an upcoming dystopian sci-fi film directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the 2011 novel by Ernest Cline (Fanboys). The film stars Tye Sheridan (Scott/Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse), Olivia Cooke (Emma in Bates Motel), Ben Mendelsohn (John Daggett in The Dark Knight Rises, Orson Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Mark Rylance (Rudolf Abel in Bridge of Spies), Simon Pegg (Scotty in Star Trek [2009], Unkar Plutt in Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and T.   4. The Tomb Raider film franchise gets a reboot on March 16, 2018. Alicia Vikander (Ava in Ex Machina, Agent Lee in Jason Bourne) has been cast as Lara Croft.   5. Coming to theaters on July 21, 2017 is Dunkirk, written and directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento, Interstellar). The film centers around the evacuation of Allied troops in Dunkirk, France, after the Germans surround them during the Battle of France in 1940. Dunkirk @ IMDb
  6. One of the most controversial graphic novels of all time finally gets animated. Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's Batman: The Killing Joke is produced by Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series) and directed by Sam Liu (Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Batman: Year One), and will feature the following voices: Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne/Batman (since 1992) Mark Hamill as The Joker (who else?) Tara Strong as Barbara Gordon (reprising role from Beware the Batman and Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman) Ray Wise (Nash in RoboCop, Perry White in Superman: Doomsday) as Commissioner Gordon As with other adapted works, Alan Moore refuses to be credited in this film.
