  1. How 'bout this. Toynami can't even get the Alpha/Legioss toy right after 10 years, why risk making an entirely new mold for the AJAX or Hovertank? They'll just royally screw it up.
  2. But think of the amazing DVD bonus features you'll be missing. Contains interactive menu, full working chapter selection screen, sneak preview of the new Robotech documentary, and 30 second convention-exclusive trailers!!!! Or perhaps you will be more inclined to invest in the Super Special Double-Triple Swirl DVD/Blu-ray edition? A "bonus" introduction by the Yune brothers, exclusive Robotech timeline and "Robopedia", original 85-episode guide, a handful of production art by "Studio Yune", Michael Bradely music videos and concert vids and a sneak preview of Speed Racer by boy wonder Tommy Yune!!!!!!!
  3. See for yourself. Yep... you're right on the money there, Az.
  4. Uh-oh... McKeever will be quite upset when he reads this thread since it sorta throws his whole "exclusive" marketing campaign outta whack. Interesting footage though... a series of quick cuts, canned 80's anime explosions, flapping mouths and better cel-shading. I have to say, it looks like a really well-made fanfic movie. Since this is a Tommy Yune joint, it's going to be devoid of character and be totally uninspired. But with dearth of new story content for five years, this fans will lap this junk up. As if they had a choice.
  5. The thrill comes from the fact that paid stooges of Harmony Gold are reading this thread and reacting in rather... bizarre and unprofessional ways - either online or offline... An unfortunate side effect, as EXO pointed out, is that they believe this thread represents the entire forum, which it does not. In the end, no BS-spewing spinmeister will change that fact that "inferior" cartoon properties like Thundercats, Smurfs, Voltron, Transformers, G.I. Joe and even the original Japanese Macross are (in certain degrees) flourishing while Robotech languishes with "sidequels", oft-delayed pen & paper RPGS, toys and lame soundtracks.
  6. I would agree with you, but have you heard a typical episode of Doug Bendo's show?
  7. My last question on the issue: Who is the bigger troll? Doug Bendo or McKeever?
  8. I think it's kinda awesome be built his whole "Banky" persona to settle some personal grudge with you. I would've believed that the drama involved in the anime industry and fandom would've been his new thing. Dare I say, he makes Stu Levy look... good. Wait, I take that back.
  9. McKeever recently posted this on his blog: “There’s little point in writing if you can’t annoy somebody.” I think he realized Theodore Roosevelt quote was too good for him.
  10. The point, dear Togo, is to meet familiar faces in a safe environment and have a laugh at Harmony Gold's expense. THAT'S IT. The license debate is over. "Only here for crap and giggles. This case ended back in 2005". Maybe somebody should make that disclaimer bigger before entering this thread??
  11. Well Dark, that's because you don't know the business like he does. Not now. Not even when he thought you corrected him about something in some obscure thread on Robotech.com. He knows more about the declining anime industry in the States, the continuing threat of Macross Purists, the rising gas prices, and "ailing" U.S. economy than anybody else in the industry. Thanks to his amazing communication skills, I now believe that these factors have severely hampered Harmony Gold's efforts to put out a decent product in a timely fashion. How you like them apples?! BTW, I saw that video a few pages back where the three stooges were playing the 28th anniversary Robotech soundtrack to an overly-enthusiastic crowd. It felt like that scene in 'Trekkies' when they were focusing on the Klingon camp. Except somehow even less cool if that were even possible
  12. I thought McKeever liked courting "controversy" and getting the hatorade on from the so-called "Macross Purists", his "critics" and "people in the know" (the last bit is something he keeps mentioning on his blog). His quote on Roosevelt seems a tad defensive... even for him. I guess when you lie enough times to the public and people call your BS out on boards like this, you start believing you're a victim. So sad.
  13. What I want to know is - Did everyone clap in the end?
  14. What about Robo Warriors? End of the Circle. Our boy Tommy is back where he belongs - drawing, and not running a cartoon property to the gutter.
  15. I've only seen bits and pieces of this. Sadly, the official expanded mecha roster that came out of Palladium wasn't any more interesting. I recall an old RPG site with images of Macross destroids hacked together with heads of Valkyries, Destroid Monsters without cannons, and all this other crazy s*%$. Sad. Good to know the only new real mecha is that stupid jeep that transforms into a gorilla-bot. May'n will never go to the Philippines
  16. Is there a rehab clinic for racist trolls in L.A.? Maybe McKeever still sidelines as a shuttle bus driver. Would explain his infatuation with gas prices.
  17. Alright. Who the f*** posted this on his blog? You do know he won't give you a logical answer, right? He'll just say you're a disgruntled fanboy and maybe refer you to their awesome Facebook page.
  18. I think it's tragic that for the last five years, Harmony Gold has been solely in the business of conventions, reselling old content and studying gas prices. Sorry, it's just sad.
  19. Let's see... that's 15 bucks for a Robo-tech wallet, times a thousand units, plus profits from the boring-ass 20 dollars polo-tshirt with the lazily slapped on UN Spacy logo... times another thousand units... all with around 400% markup... less taxes and shipping... plus selling off old content to Chinese distributors... plus profits from selling old stocks of toys and soundtracks. Hmm... So in the last ten years, Harmony Gold learned that the best way to make bank with a creaky old cartoon like Robotech is not to make new comics, toys, videogames or animation... but to churn out TSHIRTS AND WALLETS, and REISSUE OLD CONTENT! Amazing!!!
  20. Drip drip drip I believe there is enough new BS to fool the naive fans for the upcoming Comic Con panel!!!! 1.) "New" songwriter 2.) Robotech comics hit in China 3.) Old Macross toys sold out on Robo Tech.com 4.) Animatic of the 2011 animated "sidequel" Can't wait for the future of the Robo Tech multimedia extravaganza!!!!! "New scriptwriters" were played out two, three years ago. "New directors" was used up last year. This year we got "new songwriter"! What will they think up next year?! Wheeeee!! I love how Harmony Gold is exploiting this once great show!!!
  21. I wish someone would make a site dedicated to keeping tabs with the Harmony Gold hype machine. The goal would be to record every hyperbole and predictions that comes out of the horses' mouth (whether it be on a podcast, forum or convention panel). Would be good for a laugh or two.
