Gravion volume 1

Broke down and bought Gravion on a whim. Watched the first DVD's worth of episodes and its kinda boring the crap out of me. Does it get any better? Is it worth watching the rest or even renting the rest?

So far to me it lookes like a voltron clone. Big castle, Mysterous pilots, Big goofy looking aliens (think Rahxephon) vs bright shiny gundam looking core fighters to joining with a tank type thing and a gundam like robot to make a bigger gundam like robot.
